is there a self contained water cooler for the 290x? I'm not wanting to get into a full on water cooler setup, but more of a self contained (Similar to the H60 for my CPU) that just has a block, and a rad/pump integrated all into one system.

Get a NZXT Kraken G10 and you can fit several different self contained water kits to it.

I don't know of any other solutions for the 290x

I havent seen a full aftermarket kit, but power color sells a 390x with a closed loop system attached from the factory.

if you are in a single GPU configuration as the above poster said, Arctic offer the Accelero Hybrid series. (preferably the Accelero Hybrid III-140 with active VRM cooling)

If you have a reference 290x card then i recommend the Corsair HG10 A1 bracket it is specifically made for the 290/290x, you can use it with any of the Corsair AIO units. I've used them for a while and had no issues.

The Arctic one posted above looks cool too but a bit costly. You can get the HG10 bracket and a H55 for about 90 bux, instead of 120 for the Arctic setup.

Active VRM cooling is well worth the extra cost

I saw the corsair unit but it doesn't support my power color turbo duo. :-(

Is there a better aftermarket cooler? I'm finding it hits 90c and 100% fan speed

Even repasted and same thing

I went with a Prolimatech MK-26 paired with 2x140mm Cougar HDB fans to cool down my 290x. So far I have been really stoked with the results - with ambient temps around 20C, at full load the core doesn't exceed 60-62C. In most games the core sits in the low 50s. VRM temps are also really good, staying in the 50-60C range most of the time and never exceeding 70-72C. Note that I left the stock VRM/VRAM sinks on my card instead of installing the kit provided by Prolimatech. Very happy with the performance - it does take up quite a bit of space though. It is now a 4 slot card.

Damn, big fans, must be pretty quiet too? Love this sort of design, always a fan (pardon the pun) of the big fans and fin spacing approach to air cooling.

My AX7970 coolers from Arctic are dead siliet. I'm jusT not impressed with the VRM cooling.

I have a pair of 290x and have the same dilemma as the OP. With regards to using a Kraken G10 with your choice of cooler, where is typically the best place for the radiator? Best spot if using two in crossfire? And should you replace the 92mm fans with something else?

That's weird. You may wanna pull the cooler off and check the thermal paste.

Yup, those fans are basically silent at 1200rpm, but they're pushing ~70cfm each. I'm very happy with the setup overall.
