The review crew at Overclockers Club took the XFX Radeon R9 390X out for a spin. If you are GPU shopping you'll definitely want to read this review.

The XFX R9 390X does what a next generation card should do. It outperforms the previous generation when it comes to the FPS performance delivered in each of the tests run for this review. Thanks to the improvement in core clock and memory speed over last year's R9 290X, you get a boost in performance that in several cases delivers stock performance between the GTX 970 and GTX 980.

For nearly the price of a 980ti...

Where I live the 390x cost between $550 and $670 Canadian.

Prices off shopbot.ca just now.

XFX 390X - $530-540
970 - $410
980 - $640
980Ti - $840

How is $530 "nearly the price" of a 980Ti?

Sure some stores are out to lunch selling the 390X at over $700 but all of their cards are equally overpriced.

Even Amazon.ca sell them for a higher price than that and so does Newegg.ca. In any case I don't buy online having been fleeced too many time. Microbytes sells the 390x in the $600 range. So my point stand, the 390x is an overpriced underperforming video card. Its only redeeming attribute is the 8gig of ram which is nice for 3D rendering but that is it. The 970 is a better deal for way less money.

I'm not saying furener prices don't count but, they don't count. Seriously, take a drive to Seattle or some other US city and buy a 390 or x.
