Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Siege

Yeah, I don't see anything "tactical"-looking about this game...just run 'n' gun BS.

watched about 30 minutes of a streamer that got access, it's nothing like the rehearsed E3 gameplay. but who knows maybe by release it improves. It just plays like yet another hide and seek shooter

looks brilliant

If you are really serious I'd be interested to know more specifically what you find brilliant about this because I haven't seen it so far and I've been looking for it, trying to give this as much benefit of the doubt as I can.

To be fair this is just alpha footage.

I'm not anti multiplayer but I am disappointed that the next Rainbow Six game forthcoming is something like this vs something more along the lines of a Raven Shield type game.

I'm realistic, though: Sadly, I suspect those kinds of games are relics of a bygone era and that's a damned shame.

I hope this ends up being a good MP game.

Whatever happened to that Ground Branch game..

Free Technical Preview this month. Option for backers to pay for a version which gets updates to. Later this year, Steam Early Access which will be frequent builds. Will patch into the final game. Really the only hope for the genre; too bad it is moving at a slow pace.

Nice, but MP only. And they announced they are going the battlefield route anyways. Realistic infantry with arcade vehicles. And I am not a fan of their "artistic" vision. They add unrealistic features to supposedly make the game more realistic or tactical. For example, the obscenely slow reloads, and constant chamber checking.

Beta is live now. First impressions are...not amazing. Looks alright graphically (not great, but decent) and performance seems good, but the game just doesn't feel very tactical. A lot of running and gunning seems to be what works most effectively, making most of the "gadgets" seem kind of pointless. You die in like 1-2 hits so the most effective method is to just spray and pray. Kind of meh overall.

No surprise. Any kind of word or feedback on the SP campaign? That's what I always cared about from this series even though I'm under NO illusions that this game will have even a passing resemblance to those games.

I have no intentions of paying $60 for just the SP, either. Just curious.

Didn't see any SP option in the beta.

How do you access the beta?

There seems to be conflicting information about whether or not there will even be an SP campaign although I suspect the beta is probably...and logically...just for the MP component.

I signed up awhile back and got a uPlay key emailed last night. Activate, download, boom.

Heading out of town for the weekend so I won't get to play more until Sunday evening.

Just google the following -

"nvidia siege beta"
and
"siege beta"

If you've already signed up apparently it is being sent out in waves.

There is a coop terrorist hunt mode current in the beta.

I don't think there is any SP. MP looks to be more or less CS with destruction. I got a beta key. Will probably try it just to validate how much I won't like it.:p

I watched a few streamers play it last night. It's not my type of game, but they really did nail the sounds.

What the hell did I just watch? Host meaning server host? If that's the case then why was the other player able to move and shoot?

I have been told the chat services are hosted by players, there is one per team hosting the chat. If your team's chat host leaves your team receives the host migration screen while the host is migrated.

Ditto - no sale. I had high hopes...

I reinstalled SWAT 4 + other RB6 games last month to finally complete 'em on my bad-ass new box.

So this means there is probably no new rendition of the Rainbow Six theme. Garbage.

I have to revisit these old friends at least once a year. I guess I can truly give up ever getting any other games like these ever again.

Yup. RIP.

I really need to get ahold of Swat 4 again. I owned it, and the expansion, but both are long since lost. I wish they would get released on steam. Anyone know somewhere I can buy a digital copy?

I wasn't going to get it because its Ubishit made.

But not including SP is a step in the right direction.

Tho if they only did that to reduce the budget then it is bad, if they kept the budget the same as if they were including SP but decided to focus that entire budget on MP then it would be a step in the right direction.

But this is Ubisoft so we know it was likely just a cost cutting decision and leaving out SP likely did not improve the MP in the slightest.

I have not had a chance to try the beta because apparently when i signed up for it 6months+ ago it is not as important as someone who goes through nvidia to get a code, and since i already signed up months ago it does not let me put in an nvidia code on my account so i have to either make a new account or wait on them to give me access. and you know its just not worth it for an ubisoft game.

But not including SP is a step in the right.

That is like saying StAr Citizen should not have space ships. R6 is supposed to be a tactical shooter, not a crappy CS clone. But we all knew Ubisoft dropped out of that market a decade ago, so it's no surprise it's a cookie cutter CS/CoD clone.
