Its the new troll mantle, since it shares the same base as mjolnir and is extremely common.
I've found the best common new unique has got to be Kingsguard (chest). Gain 100hp when endurance charges are consumed/expire plus it has good all around stats.
There are a ton of new lowbie uniques, I've sitting at 7 tabs full of them along with the usual crap.
---

I changed my links up again and now using
Static Strike + Weapon Ele + Leech + Multistrike + Melee Phys

Previously my hits just weren't hard enough with my old maul to use the multi but now its pretty nice. The occasional animation lock from multi is annoying but whole packs of mobs and most bosses just melt, along with enough stuns in between to keep hits off me.

---

Crafting really has made getting to mid 70's maps much easier but it really feels like the wall is even higher beyond that, and again I'm hitting that feeling that I don't want to grind for the small gains I need. Plus some bosses are just too rapey, unless you're one of a few cookie cutter specs.

Speaking of stuns...are you finding you stun a "lot"?

My 77 Scion is a generic build, not really specialized in any one area, but I was trying out a Vigilant Strike setup for a while and, for the most part, it was working but I just wasn't able to stun "enough" to make the build viable. I think I may roll one specifically for that.

My EA hits pretty good on Merciless, but I have a couple problems with my build:

1 - I get over-confident and get myself dead. This happened once yesterday and it was solely due to my ego, rather than a deficiency in my build. Dumb, dumb, dumb.

2 - I miss a fair share of arrow shots because, with a large 4K monitor (think physical dimension rather than resolution), I can sometimes lose track of where my mouse cursor is.

3 - My current (corrupted) 5L Quill Rain is not colored the way it needs to be so I am putting out way less DPS than I should be. (though the Item Rarity gem helps out for Unique Items. I get 4-5 unique items per day, usually, though most are craptastic)

I'm 2 points from getting EE, which I believe will really help my build and mitigate the corrupted bow issue somewhat. I also got a 5S Quill Rain drop so I will just save up 150 Fuses and get the 5L from crafting. I'm thinking:

EA + FasterAttacks + Conc. Effct + Fire Penetration + Inc Burning -or- Added Fire

Currently, I'm running these defensives because I was out of Chromatics and had to come up with "something" that worked with these colors

Chest - CoDT + MoltShell + LGoH + Inc Dur
Boots - CoDT + Enfeeble + Immortal Call + Firestorm
Gloves - CoDT + Temp Chains + Inc Dur + Rallying Cry (not tied to CoDT)
Helm - is just utility spells like Portal, Leap Slam, Summon flame golem, Minion Life (16k life for my golem rocks, no pun intended)

There are some changes I need to make to those once I get enough chromatics to be sure I can get the colors I need.

Is there a reason you aren't you running inc duration with immortal call? Though the snapshotting of damage (if they're midswing when your IC procs you still get raped) has gotten me killed many times, its still significantly more powerful with ~1-1.5s longer duration at depending on how many charges you have. I don't really see a use in inc duration on curses, not enough stuff survives long enough for it to matter.

i haven't played a bow char before, though i have enough gear stored to start one, so I can't really speak on how to gem/gear them.

Stun wise it seems like i get a bunch of tiny stuns, just enough to interrupt a hit, or slow them (whites and blues) from getting to me. I have all the possible +aoe radius i can get from the mara area of the tree, plus using a coronal maul, (and will use inc radius when i get a 6L), it gives me a nice radius of protection.

I need to upload one of my gameplay vids to show how it behaves, but i'm sure there are others out there.

---

Take a look at the new dev notes. They'er increasing drop rates of all T1 and T2 uniques by 4x, as well as increasing div card drop rates. Wish it would have happened a month ago (or not nerfed the cards in the first place). Interesting its right at the same time a new D3 season starts.

I don't have any chromatics to re-color the sockets. I've never had much luck with Chromatics. It always seems to take me 3x as many tries as others to get the desired colors on a piece of gear, so I frequently run out of them.

Better to use Elreon to get the sockets you want. Remember that the base stat is going to drive the colors when using Chromatics, so you're not going to get a lot of red sockets on a piece of Intelligence gear for example.

Yeah. I know. ;)

You running Blood Dance boots on that setup for the Frenzy charges on kill?

I'm considering swapping my Blood Dance boots in favor of using Windscream boots.

My Reasoning:

I can use 2 Curses, stacking the effect of Elemental Weakness on top of Flammibility, itself being used in conjunction with Fire Penetration, and Elemental Equilibrium Keystone (soon...soon), to bring mobs' Fire Resists down to negative resists, making it far easier to kill mobs.

I considered it, but there's not a big reason to, as i'm armor based, and i just wreck aoe-wise with ice crash and, well with blood rage.. it grants frenzy charges on kill.. so i run into a pack, bam, instant charges and blood rage is renewed.. it's constantly up. great boost to dps and some mv speed. loving it, so far.

The idea behind the change was almost every build was using blood rage due to the massive DPS increase it would give (even caster builds). Now it requires a bit of investment either with increased duration nodes or another item / skill such as frenzy to keep the stacks up instead of it being a completely passive thing. Frenzy charges were also changed to give 4% more damage in addition to attack/cast speed so they're even stronger than before.

This is true.. I keep it up with decent armor and high health regen on my marauder. It's a perm thing, so i run into a pack, generally hit abyssal cry, and bam.. packs gone, herald of ash hits other things around it.. blood rage renewed, and here's frenzy charges. easy peasy.

So I saw Ziggy's video on Riposte, Reckoning, and Vengeance this morning and it goes along with what I tried out over the weekend.

I threw on some block gear (namely the shield and amulet) and went out to see how they worked with rebuke of the vaal.

I think I was at 48% block chance and the gems were firing pretty regularly. I'm totally -not- specc'd for this type of build but it seemed to work okay.

Considering how out of spec I am for this type of build, fighting Voll went pretty smoothly even with the adds he spawns and the other mobs that came to join in on the fun. Granted, I didn't try it with a higher level mob, but that's because I'm not specc'd for this type of fighting style.

I never really had to hit my panic flasks or anything, but it sure was "slow" going, both in movement and in fighting.

Hm. I have some high block specs, but assumed that would be sorta boring. I'll check his vid.

What level were you guys when you first fought Malachai on Merc?

My first try at him was with my 89 Scion EA build. I don't really count that run since I was already 89 and had a full respec available from the last free respec. I'm just saying that to convey the fact I was familiar with the Malachai run so I decided to try it on my kind of off-the-wall level 80 Scion build. It has the following stats:

Level 80
5200+ HP
458 Mana
6842 AR (9842 with AR Flask)
~3375 EV (~6750 EV with the above AR Flask because it has 100% EV on it as well.)
~8K DPS
All elemental resists well above cap (Still working on my Chaos resists)

None of the gems on this build have quality, and none are lvl 20, but I haven't really had a lot of problems clearing zones with this build. It's slower clearing with it than my EA build, but it's just as tanky even though it's a full 10 levels lower. I thought I was really onto something with this build because I've been doing mid-to-high 70's maps (75-76) just fine, even with mods like EE + EW + Double-Uniques + Bloodlines + turbo mode mobs and I've been owning the mobs.

So...I thought I was ready to do Malachai. Turns out, He was ready to do me, instead. Hard.

I got ROFL Stomped several severals of times before I finally found a way to cope and then beat him down...and I'm just not sure why it was so much more difficult with this character than with my EA build.

I've got a 30% reduction of physical damage being soaked up by MoM and Mind Spiral so that an additional 9% of the damage I take is given to me in the form of Mana. Resists are maxed out (135% on Normal = 75% on Merc and I'm in the 160s on all 3 elements)

Yet, I was getting 1-shotted at the very start by even his lesser hits, even with my AR/EV flask active.

I know I need to change my flasks somewhat because I've only been running 1 Mana flask, and it's a relatively slow refill one at that.

I'll be adding a second, insta-fill flask to get my mana back up to absorb hits that come in quickly, but I can't see how I can improve my Mana regen all that much without gutting my build.

Maybe I'm just hitting the wall with this build and I should park it until the next respec so I can do something else with it...Although I can get it to 255 IIR so it may make for a decent Piety/Dominus farmer...

Most people do not fight Malachai on Merciless, especially on Hardcore leagues.

What level were you guys when you first fought Malachai on Merc?
SNIP

Armenius is right about this. Most people don't do it in merc, let alone hardcore.. There's no actual reward beyond doing the quest to free Deshret's spirit.. I ended up trying to kill that bastard on my marauder and he got me 6 deaths.. this is level 90, melee, and not running fortify. This was post 2.0 and after he got 'tuned down'... I can only dread having to fight that asshole on a ranged EV char. But back on topic.. killing merc malachai is more of a prestige thing, as in.. i did this.. blahblah.. in HC, it's more like a free trip to standard.

PS. You should have no problem running dom with some iir/iiq. Getting facerolled by malachai is just one of those things that happens.. go farm dom and make some profit.. if you can go hit 75+ maps, merc dom is cake.. map dom. if you feel confident, do it up. good luck.

I haven't been playing a ton, maybe 1-2hrs 3-4 times a week. I've hit done 60%-90% on my 87 mara about a dozen times now. My closest was last night on a Necropolis (76) map at 96%. Two(3?) big skellies melee'd me at the same time after having a completely comfortable time with the majority of the map before that. Skipped the boss (rape-mode Merviel) even after, got my guy back up to 89% then promptly died to something else stupid/insta and logged for the night.

Just want to hit 90 on this dude before the league ends.

Also got one of the warbands only uniques. Its the trash shield from redblades. Its a lvl 30 unique. There are too many <40 uniques. So much junk that is worthless for anyone but racers.

Like I said, it shouldn't be a big problem.. and league gear is well.. limited.. the unique thing i get.. i have a stash full of them.. alot of that junk gets vendor'd for alc shards.. as far as the necropolis map.. well, crits will be crits.. getting popped happens.. rng is rng. don't give up and keep pushing for 90.. masters are the safest way to level and scrape by.. i would generally hit about 75% or so to a higher level then go full ham on maps to get the next level. good luck, man.

any one getting tired of the leagues and thinking about just staying on the the basic one?

every time i start getting good stuff and in to the upper 80s they end and i restart that was fun the first 4 times or so now not so much......god help me if i go back to the basic league i have at least 30 tabs of read only stuff lolf

Truer words were never spoken. Ever.

I am so tired of getting useless uniques like Briskwrap (got 7 since Monday) and that rusty sword. I think I got 5 of those as well. Five of those Thousand Ribbon robes since last Sunday. All I want from sub 30 is a damn Tabula Rasa and I've never gotten one in all the time I've played

The one month league coming up soon is going to be a rotating schedule of multiple leagues at the same time, which should be pretty amazing. It'll mean you have to level a character again (blah) but the league itself should be pretty amazing if you have the time.

I also got a bunch of characters stuck at lvl87-89 since map progression is so damn tedious after 77s, can't bring myself to regrind the 74-75s just to build a base again, good thing they might test a new system in the one month league.

Just cause maps font drop enough and you run out?

I dunno of that's the case for him but I had to grind my ass off to replenish my 75 and up cache.

I sold nearly a whole tab of 66-69s to the vendor and just kept re-selling the higher maps

I started with about 120 maps and ended with with 13-ish. I can't remember the exact number but it was just barely into double-digits.

It does get frustrating after a while...

Yeah you start to get SERIOUSLY diminished XP at around 12-13 levels above the map and the new system basically requires a big playgroup to sustain maps above 75 which I dislike

I was running the graveyard map Friday night on my little scion and accidentally zoned into Merveill's lair

For those who have read the thread, you may have read my old posts where I describe why can't fight her on this map or on Maelstrom of Chaos. The reason is because of a glitch where as soon as I zone in, my character is stuck.

I can't move, jump, teleport, blink arrow, cyclone, flickerstrike, or anything else other than Alt-F4, or die. Yes. I know the difference between being "stuck" and being "frozen". There is a very specific graphic layer when your character is frozen. It looks like your character is covered in ice, and this is not that. I've gone so far as to equip Icetomb and Wanderlust (can't be Frozen or chilled) but I just could. not. move. an. inch.

For the last 6 months I played the game, I would run just the topside part and zone back home because I could not do the boss.

So I accidentally zoned into her lair Friday night and had to Alt-F4 to save my 99% on my younger Scion. This time, I got ticked off and decided I would delete the game and reinstall it from scratch. I deleted it and removed any reference to it in the registry and then rebooted and re-downloaded it and reinstalled it.

Once I fired it up and it patched itself, I logged in and now it's working just fine. Popped in a graveyard map and ran straight to merveille and had zero issue this time. Not sure why it always passed its "Hey the code checks out and there's no corrupted bytes anywhere!" checks in the past, yet glitched in that zone, but it works now just dandy.

In fact, my first run through I got Doomsower and Malicious Intent from her, as well as a really nice set of rare boots +73 Life + Tri Res >20 + 487AR (no runspeed, but I don't mind that.)

Yea I hit a wall at about 87 I can run 20 low 70s-maps and get a few bars of xp and il be lucky to get 5 75 maps and il run the 75+ ones and get more low lvl ones. What they need to do is any map that drops should same lvl or higher then current map.

I enjoy poe up till about 80then by 85 its time to make a new guy thiers just so litle motivation to play much higher then 80 as the xp sucks and the item upgrades cost so much

for fyrawolf..

https://www.pathofexile.com/passive...ZfNrB42rkUeoY7w7vfPAf8kHz3fZI9zL46_rS_gr-VP6P

a fairly optimized facecrash build, with great life, good regen, and a few damage nodes that will scale with hatred and flat-damage.. if anyone could help out..

Man I regret that name! I thought I was supposed to be the name of my character, not the name on the account lol.

Anyways this is my current tree. Still not entirely what I want just yet but I'm really mana dependent so many points go toward mana just to sustain my main attack. I'm also using several unique items which requires me to take the 15% all resists point. Eventually, if I'm able to, I want respec out some of the mana, the resist, and all of the elemental points in the templar area. But for now everything is working pretty good and sustainable. Still need a bit more life as well, I'm just over 5100. Sorry for not posting sooner.

The best way to directly influence map return is by increasing the amount of monsters you encounter per map, this was achievable in the past league through rolling high pack size, extra magic monsters, then double Beyond if applicable; with 2.0 those mods had been reduced and/or merged with others, players would have to look to having high Quantity bonus for more chances to find drops...but not as simple as it sounds.

According to data people have accumulated over the new leagues, while there is a noticeable difference in drops going from 0% quant to 80%, but not so much going from 80% to 120+%; having high quantity also means you'd have to deal with multiple dangerous(-max, extra damage, monster crit..) and annoying(temp chain, enfeeble, chilled ground...)mods stacked on top of each other, creating a situation where players felt they had to invest a lot currency to roll risky maps just to get nothing back.

So the "correct way" to run maps this leauge is to build a large base - if you have 12 75s, run those maybe get 5 76s and some more 75s(plus other low level shits), now you can't just go ahead and do those 76s, because they won't produce enough or if at all 77s; you have to do more 75s or even go back down to 74s until you have at least a dozen of 76s in order to progress again. Thus people find themselves grinding the same tilesets with the same shitty mods over and over just to stock up, while I'll admit we were spoiled by past leagues & players shouldn't have easy exp handed to them, but this is not exactly "fun".

On the other hand, dedicated map groups do not have these issues because they can pool their resources together, grab a proper support guy with beefed up auras & curses and blow through maps five times as fast while getting the same shared exp, Zana mod 80-82s then become lvl100 in less than 100 hours. GGG cannot simply buff the map drop rates because it'll create even bigger disparity between the top tier min-maxers and average solo casuals.

Tree looks good.. Don't forget to grab the other beginning node at the marauder start.. 16 flat life will go a few hundred hp. seeya in game.

Note to Self:

When swapping Life Flasks and Quartz Flasks make sure you put your bottles back in the same order on your toolbar. It can save you a whopping 10% XP.

I'm Sandi_Vagina and I approve this message.

^lol last year When I was playing my Shadow Trapper and I finally took Chaos Innoc for the first few maps I ran I forgot to swap out my life flasks, still hitting them as I took damage, until I realized....herp :p

What's better is when you have caustic mana flasks and forget to un-equip them after going CI. Instantly kills you on use. Seen people die to that a few times.

On a related note, EQ2 had the "follow" option so one person could lead the other 5 people in their group around.

Like most raiding guilds we'd raid until 12am-1am most nights and some people in my group would "right-click, follow" my character then go AFK since I had a runspeed buff that got us home faster.

The Tank and Healers had to pay extra repair costs whenever I caught them autofollowing me because whenever I noticed them auto-following, I'd run off the nearest, tallest cliff. (I was running a fairy who floated slowly down. They didn't float so much as plummet.)

I FINALLY found a white 76(or is it level 78?) arid lake map, which I assume is the higher level version of the dry lake map and decidced I would load that thing up and run it. I put 4 chisels on it then alch'd it and thought to myself, I need to throw a vaal orb at this time too so it will be a great map!

Damn thing turned into a Plateau map, of which I have like 14...

I've still never run the Arid Lake map

Damn you, Vaal!

Built up some currency, decided to give another go at getting my mace 6L'd.

Long story short I have a 3L now and no currency that i can directly convert to fuse. Sooooo... I'm done with warbands (and that char) now.

See ya friday in the 1month!
