Nexus 6 32GB $350 64GB $400 From Amazon

Trying to decide if I want to get this or use my contract to upgrade to the iPhone 6s Plus 64GB...if I don't use my contract then it would be available for the iPhone 7 next year...

Clearly you're an Apple person, so why go for an android phone?

Im using on verizon also. I put a ROM on and only issue I have is it disables the internet while on a phone call. Still working on figuring out how to fix it...

I want an upgrade from my Samsung Galaxy S4 (Verizon). This seems a bit too large, though. :( I'm leaning toward an LG G4 instead.

I just can't seem to pull the trigger. My Note 3 works fine.

Totally fighting the urge to buy. My LG G2 has been great, but I think I would appreciate the extra screen real estate since my daughter hijacked my tablet and I just about exclusively use my phone now days.

You guys on the fence might as well buy. If anything comes out on the 29th that's a better value, you can always return to Amazon easy peasy :)

Have you tried to dial the advanced phone settings number and toggle the VoLTE flag to on?

Open up the dialer and punch in *#*#4636#*#* then toggle that VoLTE flag on! It should be in one of the settings menu where you can turn the radio off and switch modes etc.

KillaGorilla,

Yes I already had that activated. I didnt think to toggle it off then on but it was already on. Advanced calling was also enabled. I flashed to a different EOS rom today and it seems to be working fine now. Seems to be a bug with the Chroma rom I was trying out. Battery life seems to suck though. Any tips? Already running greenify and amplify. Down to 65% after 2 hours

I used to hack every phone I had and was deep into android exploits and bypassing security measures... these days I run stock encrypted. Android doesn't need to be hacked anymore to run well. I can't think of a reason I would need to run a ROM or have root. The mystery of what could be broken in the build I crackflashed no longer has an appeal. The option of having an unlockable bootloader is nice though. =)

Still on the fence about this one. have it in my cart and ready to order but the new line of nexus coming out has me on pause. I'm going to guess the new line will cost alot more than this anyways and that is out of my price range.

Nexus 5X is what you are talking about? That phone is speculated to be $350. They are announcing on the 29th of this month.

Turn off both of those. I'm getting 1+ days on the PureNexus ROM with LeanKernel with no power management apps installed. Bluetooth always on, constant music listening, frequent youtube, and messaging constantly throughout the day.

Give me a little smaller screen size but a better rear camera and I'd be all in. Like a G4 without the LG bloatware.

But the 2015 Nexus 6 is supposed to be BEASTMODE:
http://bgr.com/2015/09/15/nexus-6-2015-specs-benchmark/

Yeah, another overpriced phone with a non-removable battery and no sdcard slot.

All I want is a manufacturer to build a phone that fits in my pocket, includes the latest chip, an IP67 enclosure, removable battery, sdcard slot, IR blaster, wireless charging, and vanilla Android with an unlocked boot loader. I don't care what it looks like or what they make it out of. Sadly, I don't think it will ever happen. :(

Edit: wifi calling is tits too

Why? This phone works on Verizon and every other US carrier.

From the product page:
Unlocked cell phones will not work with CDMA Carriers like Sprint, Verizon, Boost or Virgin.

So apparently this will work. Sorry, it appears to be a grey issue, but it does work.

Sorry

The unlocked Nexus 6 does work on CDMA carriers. I picked mine up from BBuy and they have the same disclaimer, but it worked just fine on VZW. I'm not sure why they all say it's GSM only. Moto made the Nexus 6 non region/carrier specific as far as I know, it's one phone for all.

It's been a great phone for the price. at the original price I think it was crap, but for $350 32GB it's a no brainer buy. Unlocked and loaded with Pure Nexus rom on XDA and it's been great. I'm coming from a Note 4 so the camera isn't quite as nice, but doable for now till something better comes out that catches my eye.

Secret Google Project Fi Codes for Nexus 6

Using the stock phone dialer WITHOUT pressing call, enter these codes:

Force jump to Sprint: *#*#34777#*#*

Force jump to T-Mobile: *#*#346398#*#*

Re-enable automatic carrier switching: *#*#342886#*#*

These codes will help you navigate T-Mobile / Sprint when you are stuck on 3G / H / E with a carrier when you know LTE is available. Project Fi's criteria for switching is weighted more toward signal strength than network speed it's believed.

Also, when you have LTE and your speeds are slower, you're most likely on the Sprint Network. Switch to T-Mobile as they are 10x faster than Sprint.

It is also possible to jump off 3G / H / E to LTE using signal booster code and / or switch carrier code

Hope this helps.

I also have many other codes to increase radio power ( signal strength ) Network status, etc etc but because those codes can be problematic and dangerous ( for your phone ) to use I won't post those.

On 2nd thought here are a few more codes that are safe to use

Attempt to perform an automated "repair": *#*#34963#*#*

Get information about the current network: *#*#344636#*#*

Using a scene coded APK, there are a few apps out there that will do this for you ( some of you may know where to look ) newest update at ************.ru

Sold out now. Looks like they only had 480 available.

I had one in my cart but just couldn't pull the trigger with the new Nexus coming soon. I had the Nexus 6 last year for a few months but the width does take some time to get used to if ever and battery life for my use was not good. Loved the phone and am still struggling with the Moto X Pure as I would love to pick one up but don't see any benefit for me over the 6 Plus I have been using.

ended up biting the bullet. My wife is going to kill me but my daughter really needs a phone. My s4 will go to her and daddy gets this beast.

The Z5 or z5 premium is the closest thing you will get. Latest snapdragon, ip68, microsd, close to vanilla android but doesn't have removable battery, ir blaster and wireless charging but does do magnetic dock charging. The wifi calling will depend on if a carrier officially carries the phone. But for me I don't use ir and I don't need removable battery as long as it gets near 2 day battery life like my z2 did.

It sounds like you would like the new Moto X Pure. It's basically a Nexus like experience with a few Moto features added on that are pretty nice. Really similar to the Nexus 6 but its 5.7inches with small bezel and is comparable to a G4 in the hand. It has the improved 21MP sensor that seems to be better in every area than their previous 16MP one they were using. SD slot is also a nice change for the Moto X family.

Nexus 6 for $350 is really tempting, I've been wanting to try out Google Fi. I'm still waiting to see if the Moto X Pure can work with Google Fi without any issues, there's some people showing it working good.

Seems like the Moto X pure is the phone I am thinking of now.
Can't think if any real cons to it. Price is great, size is perfect, what can go wrong?

Thanks for the recommendation, I'll check out the Moto X Pure the next time I'm at a Verizon store.

I assume it's easily rootable? I rooted my current phone (Samsung Galaxy S4) within the first couple days I had it. I heard rooting is a little bit of a PITA for the LG G4 (Verizon version).

I believe so, you can get a code to unlock the bootloader from Motorola but I believe it voids the warranty since it's not a "Developer Edition" phone. There's a pretty active motox subreddit that has good information from actual users. I'm still rocking the Moto X 2013 so I've been getting the upgrade itch pretty bad.

Also sorry if I derailed the thread a bit, thought I would mention the Moto X Pure given the Motorola pedigree and similar price.

Thanks and no prob. about offering an alternative phone that's sort of similar to the Nexus 6.

I found a review of the Moto X Pure:

I'll read up some other reviews as well and of course try it out at a local store that I mentioned. I'll bring my Otterbox waterproof container to make sure the phone can still fit in there.

Here are some pretty good reviews that go in depth, then a straight comparison to a Nexus 6 article.
