40% of Capcom's digital sales are for PC games

Did capcom complain about PC piracy? Only one I know of that made a public complaint (or at least remember at this moment) is Ubisoft. But that was one of the biggest ones that happened.

I never suggested that Capcom did, my barb is directed at all the nobs who claim that publishers neglect the PC platform because of piracy and fewer sales. You know who you are! Btw most publishers have whined about piracy at one time or another.

Err, well, this is only digital sales. I don't think it's news that console gamers are more likely to buy physical copies of games and PC gamers are more likely to buy digital. Does Capcom even release their full gamut of AAA games on Xbox Live Arcade?

I'm reasonably confident once you include the physical copies, big budget PC game revenue would be well below the consoles..

Oh, I see. Thought I missed something.

Capcom's PC games all require Steam or GFWL; they're actively preventing piracy. PC did get fewer sales than consoles (still 60% console).

that's kind of a really good statistic considering all the different kinds of consoles.

from the article

As Capcom pointed out, the share of sales – for full games – is about 40% for PC, 30% for the PlayStation Network, 20% for Xbox Live Arcade and 10% for Nintendo platforms

shows me that as far as digital sales PC is their most promising system and would encourage them to focus on that more than the consoles.

What are you smoking, steam and GFWL have never effectively prevented piracy....games that use them are cracked and distributed within hours of release.

PC did get fewer sales than consoles (still 60% console).

And you had to add 5 different consoles together to get that cumulative figure, not to mention that nintendo most of the time stands almost as a complete separate platform that doesn't share releases with the other consoles.

This should be a hint to Bandai-Namco, Koei-Tecmo, and the rest of the Japanese game industry to do better PC ports for the west. Squeenix for the most part does a decent job at porting while adding extras (with the notable exception of FFXIII which was based on the 360 port, 1024x576 fixed framebuffer, no AF and all)

I didn't say they were effective. I said they were actively trying to prevent their games from being pirated.

GWFL certainly failed in that regard, as I felt it was trying to stop those who actually bought the game from playing the game (my own experiences with FO3).

So they are releasing Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen on steam next year. I would get that. Hell, I would get a lot of stuff that is console only. You gotta ask, is being tied to one console worth losing half your sales? Understandable that developing 3 versions is a bit much but the tools are becoming better.
