Welp, my 980ti doesnt fit in my case, what mATX cases will?

Apparently a 980ti classified doesn't fit in a corsair Air 240. Not even close. What mATX cases can fit an evga 980ti classified in them? Anyone care to chime in?

I've had good luck with my Ncase M1 - with the SFX power supply any video card will fit - as long as the power draw numbers works out.

11 inch x 5.94 inch double slot listed.

Rosewill Line-M mATX case lists 12.5 inch video card.
Fractal Core 1000 should
Corsair Graphite Series 230t
many more, what price/features?

I'm primarily (and I should have mentioned this earlier) looking for a cube form factor case.

Here is the hardware I'm installing:

  • Intel i7-6700k
  • H100i GTX cooler
  • Asus Maximus VIII Gene mATX
  • (2) 8gb Corsair Vengeance DDR4
  • (2) eVGA 980Ti Classified
  • (2) 2.5" SSD's
  • Samsung SM951 NVMe SSD (board mounted, irrelevant for all intents and purposes

So really I just need to make sure I can fit my cooler and two 980Ti classifieds (why the heck are these cards so huge?!), and a pair of SSD's.

I'm disappointed I can't use the Corsair Air 240, honestly. It's a very nice and impressive case. Looking at just how incredibly shallow the case is, I can't imagine any of my last three video cards fitting in this thing. I had checked pcpartslist and it listed the two pieces of hardware as compatible (nope!). I guess it was my time to serve as a warning to others. The next step up on Corsair's line I believe is the Air 540, which is way too big for what I need.

I'm looking for the most compact case I can get two 980Ti's into. I don't want to go much above a $120 price tag unless I'm really getting something for my money.

I keep ending up looking at the Thermaltake V21, much to my chagrin. My past experiences with Thermaltake have been cheap flimsy cases that break easily. I have a similar feeling towards Rosewill, but not as extreme. How are their cases now?

Unfortunately I'm doing SLI on a mATX board, and I believe the M1 is a Mini-ITX, isn't it?

I don't believe it will fit a 980Ti Classified, it's not deep enough, which is the problem I ram into with the Air240.

By deep do you mean the width of the card? It can fit an 11" long card with room to spare.

I have the case at home. I am going to put a 980 Ti Strix in mine (for a day :)) which is the same width as the 980 Ti Classified. I made measurements of the extra depth past the PCI slot and wrote them down; I can give them to you when I get home. I think it was ~2" of space between the PCI bracket and the door but don't quote me on it yet.

Also something to keep in mind is the Air 240 only has 80mm fans on the back, and the hyperion allows for a 120mm fan. That alone is 1.57" extra depth assuming they both butt directly next to the I/O backplate.

Depth as in the width of the card (how far it stands off the motherboard), not the length. From what I was reading it has 160mm of depth for the GPU. My 980Ti Classified is 158mm deep, meaning I wouldn't be able to attach any power cables to it (I presume I would need 20mm additional, minimum). Please, feel free to correct me if I'm wrong. I do not know if all the 980TI's use the same depth PCB as the classified. I know my 970 was much more shallow.

That's a good point. It's hard finding good solid GPU fitment information.

Yeah, agreed. Card width/depth is always sorely lacking when case specs are mentioned or reviewed.

You have a good point on the card connectors and I overlooked that. The 980 Ti Strix has them recessed behind the heatsink so that isn't an issue for me. With the Classified not doing that you could have fitment issues.

Not to create new topic, i'd like to ask about matx case too.
I already had Corsaie Air 240, Fractal Design Define mini. Now i want something smaller, like Rosewill Legacy U3, but with any chance to fit nonreference 980ti, h100i, and not to get boiled :). Maybe i missed some great case. Thanks.

Ok, i found myself good one - Raijintek Styx, i will wait a bit for some builds/reviews and maybe get it.

So my 980 Ti Strix sticks out ~1.5" past the PCI plate. The Hyperion cases has ~2 1/8" of space between the PCI slots and the side. That gives you some working room (1/2"-5/8") if you have a 6" card. It would be pretty close though I think.

I'd show you with the card installed but I transferred back to my Solo II and am returning the case. Too much noise allowed for my taste.

There are few things you can do:
Take out window;

Make a hole :D ;

Change GPU;
Change case.

lol yeah I can tell you right now, that wont work. I cannot even get the card seated in the case, period. The problem is the shelf past the IO shield mount, it simply cannot fit. I tried installing the card and then sliding the mobo into place, but it hits the rim of the case. All of the pictures you posted seem to be much smaller cards. My card for example would literally require the entire side of the case cut out, metal and all, and the card would stick out entirely about 1" :)

I ended up buying a Thermaltake V21. It really amazingly well thought out and designed. However, the quality is pretty poor, with flimsy metal, cheap paint, and low quality wiring. But, It's literally one of two cases I think would have even worked.

If I could give anyone some advice from my experience it would be do not buy an evga GTX 980Ti Classified. The card is just stupid big for no good reason. If you buy that card and you want a small form factor case, you're going to have literally two choices.

Now I have to install my second 980Ti in this case and the fan shroud is going to contact the back plate of the other card. I don't see how in the hell the top card isn't going to burst into flames.

I looked at Thermaltake V21 too, but i'm afraid of its bad quality. Node 804 is far better choise imo.
