Everspace

HOTAS controls are a stretch goal?\

EDIT: "You unlock more of the story when you die" - hope this isn't incentivizing people to ram into asteroids.

Actually looks pretty cool, graphics and destruction physics are impressive for an indie title.

That's still not much. They must have some sort of real funding, because that looks like it's more than a million bucks (to my eyes).

my guess is it's a market demand check kickstarter.. if they prove enough people want it, they'll get green lit for more funding by who ever is backing them.

The page directly says that they'll get private investment if they reach their funding goal.

I loved the Galaxy on Fire mobile games. Backed.

PS: Star Citizen should have used the UE4 engine. Everspace looks absolutely gorgeous.

Yikes. That's a loooong way out. Me thinks I must forget this title for now and get "surprised" when it pops out next year. :D

I got my beta key in the inbox today and so far the beta is fantastic. The game play is like FPS version of Space, Pirates and Zombies or if you can go far back into the past there was a game on the Mac called Escape Velocity. It plays choppy on my PC (specs in sig) when the action starts going, but I hope this can be optimized on release. I am glad I backed this project!

When I originally saw this thread, I couldn't stop smirking.

Before Elite: Dangerous and Star Citizen were announced ( well known ), I told Fish Labs ( via Youtube I think it was ) that they should make a game for PC, similar to Galaxy on Fire 2. They said that there was no market. I told them that they were wrong; developers just did not want to take a risk funding anything other than < insert generic shit # 12 >. Several months later, Star Citizen funding went bananas and Elite: Dangerous became known. I posted a comment that looked like Nelson from the Simpsons:

"Galaxy on Fire 2" is free to play

I just got this from steam (Early Access) and It reminds me of the old X-wing vs Tie Fighter "feel". lovely graphics, currently supports 3440x1440 and a Nvidia 1060.

have some issues with audio popping but man, some of those weapons under AI control are deadly (read enemies with Shock rifle X 2 will mean your death for sure).

Overall, I am in the full game. My son is in line for it to.

I'm enjoying the game quite a bit. It's fairly simplistic right now, but they've really nailed the core gameplay loop which is the most important thing. From here they can just keep adding on more things to make the game even better.

My quick description of the gameplay is that you basically try to make it system to system surviving as long as you can. Each time you die you use the money you collected during the prior run to upgrade your ship. You have to make the choice though during game to use your money to essentially buy resources to stay alive longer, or save your money and use it to upgrade.

It's basically like any number of other endless survival rogue-likes but in space.

For $30 i'd say it's an easy purchase. I particularly like the game because you can quick jump in and play a little and always be left feeling satisfied. The difficulty curve seems to ramp up quite nice as well so a decent challenge is always presented.

adding to McHart port

either survive longer and collect more money along with blueprints for the GREAT weapons (anyone got the ARC900?) or the coil rifle II, Flak CannonII and the thermo gun (VII of all).
you can use the "credits" to purchase items with traders also (like $ => dark energy) to make MKII weapons.

the catch,
usually won't see those MKII blue prints until sector 3 and then that is when the elite fighters start to really stack up against you. And I hate the corvettes but the war ships are the worse!

Figured i'd bump this. Been about a year and the game is considered released at this point.

They really did a good job with this game and it's fairly solid. They've added in more of a story since early access, more ships (Basically 3 different classes), and far more different types of environments that are generated.

Well worth the $30 price tag in my opinion.

Looks cool. But considering I just heard of it 10 seconds ago, I'm not ready to throw $30 at it yet. I have been burned time and time again by space games that look cool, I buy them, and then they suck. I'm looking at crappy games like you, Strike Suit Zero, No Man's Sky, Starpoint Gemini, etc etc

If they had a demo I'd try it. Until then... I'll wait for it to show up on Humble monthly or such.

It doesn't try to be an open world space game. It's a fairly simple concept executed well. It's like Rogue Legacy or any number of rogue-like games where when you die you start over again, but use the cash you collected towards permanent upgrades.
