Browsing through your post it seems you've already found replacements for literally everything. Realistically, the only real area you seem to be struggling with is the areas of PC cleaning software, malware software, antivirus software and internet security software - What you need to understand is that under Linux, you don't need any of this, these are all solutions to issues that only plague Windows and to some degree iOS operating systems.

I have been using Linux for many years now after switching from Windows and I haven't experienced one form of malware, spyware or a virus.

My advice, if possible, is to set up a spare machine, doesn't need to be overly powerful (core 2 will do beautifully) and install a distro and see how you go adapting from Windows to Linux. Work out what is included in the distro (and you'll be surprised at how fully featured they are) and work out, from there, what else is needed to achieve what you want to do.

If this isn't possible look at dual booting or setting up a VM, but overall, with a bit of perseverance, I cannot see why you cannot transition fully to Linux with no reliance on Windows ever again based on your prior post.

I recommend Linux Mint 17.2 Cinnamon.

Look here for a link to DVD ripping software:

Bear in mind that many of the packages you're describing should work fine under Wine.

DVD ISO burning software, Personally I like Brasero, although I'm more into HD rips these days so it's been years since I've burnt a DVD ISO.

Soundconverter will convert Flac to mp3.

GIMP will resize Avatar's, in fact I now prefer GIMP to Photoshop.

Here is an audio extraction package, although while it has a trial period I don't think it's free (I'm certain a free package is available if you search hard enough).

As for Kodak easyshare software, you could try Wine or you could just do what almost everyone else does and drag and drop using a file explorer.

Hope this helps.

I will 2nd that malware/virus/clean shit is not needed. Been running Linux since the early 2000s, not a single issue.

DVD ripping - MakeMKV
DVD Burning - k3b
Audio Organizers - Amarok or Clementine
Do you really need Flash? Google Chrome is native under Linux and has built in flash player called pepperflash, works fine.
Media Player - VLC can play pretty much any format

Yep I consider all those cleaners and AV software malware in themselves. You need to forget them when you switch to linux.

What about the programs with multiple replacements?

Are they all good choices, or is one better than the others?

What is the feeling on Debian 8 (Cinnamon)?

+1 on using Linux Mint, its very "windows" like and is easy to get used to. Been running a dual boot on my office PC for years.

Has anyone tried to dual boot Windows 10 and Mint? Guess I need to google some and see what I find.

Are there any really good Linux programs I should check? What about any I should avoid like the plague?

Can any of the Linux programs replace multiple Windows programs?

*** One big obstacle that needs to be addressed is "Netflix" . How do I get Netflix to reliably play in Linux?

lol at winamp on the list

it is a windows port of a program called...wait for it...amp

What Linux distro has Chrome already installed? The ones I've tried have Firefox or SeaWeasel. I thought one had Chrome, but I forgot which distro.

I don't know which distros have Chrome pre-installed (since it changes so frequently), but probably all of them have it available in the software center. E.g., in Ubuntu you can just open the Software Center and install it if it's not already installed. I suppose Linux Mint is similar.

I like Lubuntu.
Mine didn't come with Chrome but there was a package for it.
Idk how or when but it's on there now.

Firefox is already ported to Linux.

Heck, Linux Mint comes with it pre-installed.
