LSI 9341-8i vs HP4320

I have an aging Highpoint 4320 with the HP SAS expander hooked up.

I won the LSI 9341-8i at LAN. I can't find RAM amount on the LSI, but I am guessing on throughput alone the LSI can easily outperform the aging Highpoint.

However, I can find no listing of tested expanders, nor verify if the expander will limit throughput.

Thoughts or advise?

I can take down each existing HighPoint array, remove the expander, then go Highpoint with 8 drives (none of my arrays are more than 8 physical drives) over to LSI with drives in groups.

I almost want to say it has no memory, thus no cache, thus performance wont be super high...but it has a decent processor on it..

The 9341 is not outfitted with cache, but it comes with the option of either 4 or 8 internal ports.

I found the same: the 9361 model lists 1GB memory, but my 9341 lists only the proc and no RAM spec.

I suppose I can fire up the HP4320 in one slot, and the LSI in another and see what I think.

then on to testing the expander. I will post my results...

probably the best way to do it.
