I need help: what software can over-burn a music CD?

I have a APE or FLAC file that is 1 min. over the regular 700MB capacity. I use Nero 10 to overburn and the Nero totally fails.

I then use Ashampoo 9 to burn, and it simply says exceed capacity.

I then try ImgBurn and it asking for some ?? modules.

I then try an old 2003 software call Feurio and I can't figure out how to burn or over burn

Can anyone helps?
 
I use an old version of nero v7 I think... I have over burnt many disks.. The program itself does not integerate withanything as it is so old. But it seems to work stand alone and burns stuff. The over burn does not always work, but I think that was because I was trying for 5 mins.. A min or max 2 would be fine.. I use it with on the lap top which runs XP.. I used to burn dreamcast disks which was multi tracks with audio and data on the same disk and stuff and I have to use XP for those.
 
Question. Could you use an audio editing program to speed up (thus incrementally shorten), the audio file?

Also, are you just burning the file to disk? Or are you trying to master an audio CD?
 
Have been using Clone CD for over a decade. It dows a great job overburnig and they just had an update to make it Win 10 compatible.

the main problem w/ nero is that it cut off the songs at the wrong spots. So say song 2 starts at 0:00, but it's actually playing the last few seconds of song 1.

I try it on 3 disc, same thing. But using Ashampoo, the same FLAC file does NOT have that problem

just burning a FLAC w/ CUE to a 700MB CD
 
Remember each track takes up a few minutes of disk space.. Making all the separate tracks into one single track, you could fit like 10 mins more onto the disk. Padus I think allowed you to use shorter gaps between tracks allowing you to fit more but it was a long time ago so I dont remember exactly. I do know tracks and sessions take up huge amount of disk space.. You would have to get rid of the cue to do it, You could just use mkv merge to append it to the first track to add it into a single file and then use mkv extract to read it back as a single file. But I never worked with flac itself so dont know.. OR you could just merge 2 of the tracks into a single file to get it to fit.
 
I've not burned music to a CD in a very very long time, and on top of that I haven't needed to overburn in an even longer time. That being said, there are a few things I recall that you'll both need and want to do when setting it up...

[OPTIONAL] First suggestion is to waste a disc (or 2, or 3) by performing an Overburn Test (Nero CD-Speed used to), this will determine the maximum overburn possible on the brand of media you're writing to. Should you not want to do that, there ARE sites that have compiled lists of brands and media types which indicate what a typical user has been able to achieve in overburning (keep in mind that the type of drive used can also play a large part).

- First you'll need to write with Disc-at-Once mode, this makes sure to close the session on the write.
- Next you'll want to select whatever option your software has to "Generate a short lead-out", which itself can save 10-12MB on it's own w/o overburn.
- Most importantly, you'll want to write at the lowest possible burn speed your drive can write at! Unfortunately this will increase the write time, which can be rather annoying if you're like me and choose to leave the system completely alone until it is finished in an effort to not cause any tiny hiccup that'll end up generating a shiny new coaster.

It's been easily a decade since I've overburned a CD, or even DVD for that matter, but I think the most I've ever managed to cram onto a standard 80min was like 84 or 85minutes. As for Data, same guidelines apply, but I can't quite remember what I've gotten away with on that. I want to say like 770MB. You might have more luck with a continuous rip (single file) as apposed to multiple tracks.

Again, just remember that LOW BURN SPEED CAN MAKE ALL THE DIFFERENCE! Not saying that drives aren't better or media has advanced a tiny bit, but you will still no doubt have more luck with 2x/4x/(maybe)8x vs 24x/28x/32x.

I just download and try it. It doesn't have any option to read a CUE or FLAC file and burn it to a CD-R

or does it?

okay, I just try your trick. It do the over burn, but Nero doesn't cut the song properly.

So like I said earlier, song 2 beginning = end of song 1.

See, when I use Ashampoo to burn the same size disk, it can burn with ea. song clearly cutting at the end of each song.

But Ashampoo doesn't seem to allow overburn. So I'm force to use Nero, and Nero can overburn, but it can't burn a FLAC file w/ proper separation between songs

If the CD is say 40 min, then Nero CAN properly separate the songs. With this near 80 min. CD w/ 20 songs, Nero can't do.

What I need is to get Ashampoo or equivalent that can separate a FLAC or APE file properly, so each song starts at the proper spot

but Ashampoo (ver. 15 latest) still does not support overburn. So I need another software that can read a APE or FLAC file properly and also support overburn

Update: JUst try Alcohol 120%, it can read APe and support overburn, but once I start the process, it says "Error Message: 05/260/00 invalid field in parameter list"

now, I did notice on track 20, it's say 0000 bytes on it, is there a way for me to edit the CUE file to remove track 20? Is it a matter of just text edit out track 20, or is there more to it?

I just tried Disc LUggler, it crashes during the run, so at this point, I don't know what more to do. Alcohol 120 is the best bet if I can fix that error.
 
CDBurnerXP might be able to do it but you can use it to create an image that ImgBurn which I know for a fact will overburn (I did it with my BenQ 1655 and DVD+R discs). Wherever there is a selection, the disc has to be burned DAO JFYI.
 
Not all drives support overburning and you can do about 2 minutes tops off a regular disc, there were discs however that did 90 mins officially.

I used to burn with nero, but not trust it with flac/ape. Instead I used foobar2000 to make a nero image first. I'm not sure if foobar2000 still has a nero plugin.
 
If you burn with nero is nto working, I doubt the image would make a difference.. best bet like some others have said it to do it at disk at once mode where it does a short gap and saves some space and depending on how many tracks there are might get it to fit. There are nero to iso and iso to nero image utilities. And the final option like I said would be to make 2 tracks into 1 so the gap is absent which would get it to fit but then you dont have the track seperation. Do not use ANY session stuff as it takes over 5 mins of space..

Update: CDBurnerXP works. It doesn't give any error and I finally successfully burn this 80 min. CD

Thank you very much for your suggestion.

IMgBurn doesn't work, it gives error (asking me for extra filter)

Hint: You may need to install some additional direct show filters in order to support files of this type

APE yields the same error. Clearly it's a bug, as CDBurner XP doesn't have that error
 
I don't think it's a bug, ImgBurn is made to burn images, it supports ape and flac (which are not CD images) only if your OS has a directshow filter for those :

ImgBurn supports a wide range of image file formats - including BIN, CCD, CDI, CUE, DI, DVD, GI, IMG, ISO, MDS, NRG and PDI.

It can burn Audio CD's from any file type supported via DirectShow / ACM - including AAC, APE, FLAC, M4A, MP3, MP4, MPC, OGG, PCM, WAV, WMA and WV.
 
It reminds me of FDDshow, it looks like the software is missing a filter / CODEC or whatever you want to call it

For a 80 min. CD, I find it hard to believe Nero ver. 10 can't burn it. CDBurnXP is many years old, whereas Nero 10 is a paid software only a few yr. old. How can a few yr. old software unable to burn a 80 min. CD?

We have 80 min. Cd for at least 1+ decade

the burn result from Nero is horrible. Songs becomes at the middle or at the end, and the same song repeats itself.
