Warframe Coop MMO

I like this game a lot. Very addictive. I've been taking a break for the last several weeks or so. I feel like I've hit the brick wall on my character.

Been having more fun with this than Diablo lately. The different mission types keep the game varied and the weapons and mods are interesting. Fighting off hundreds of infested while defending a point never gets old. Diablo could really learn a few things about different game modes. It's just fun being able to turn off my brain for a while and kill tons of stuff.

I also suggest against spending money on weapons / frames, and never rush something. However I have considered buying formas / potatoes since apparently they reduced the drop rate of them in void missions, and weapons are pretty terrible without them.

The weapons really are great. The Hek is the best shotgun I've used in a game ever (it actually has range), as are the bows with their penetration effect.

Honestly though I'm not even sure what I'm trying to do in the game, it's just fun building different weapons and warframes. I've got quite a few maxed weapons / frames but don't have any prime gear yet. Currently rank 8.

Im very new to this game, only a few hours in. What does ranking do? Im still on 0, never even tried to go for 1.

BTW having fun playing this game. Can see myself spending some money on this, not cause i need anything but just to show my support.

Getting a higher rank allows you to:

Use certain weapons as they are locked until you hit the proper rank. Many of the clan guns and some of the Cash Shop guns are locked this way even if you buy them instead of craft them. The Warframe Wiki has more information on which gun is locked in this manner. I'm sure that the game tells you, but I have everything unlocked so I can't tell you where it is.

Place probes on planets to collect resources even after you have logged out for the day. If you look at the star chart in the navigation screen, you will notice that each planet drops different resources. This tells you where to farm for certain resources. Creating a probe allows you to do this while you are offline. Nothing like logging in and receiving 6x Orokin Cells. That's probably like 20 boss runs right there.

Achievements / E-Peen status.

Some Warframe models require a certain rank. Off the top of my head, I know that Rhino requires a certain rank before you can equip him. Even if you buy him from the Cash Shop, you can't use him until you reach that rank.

Can't think of more off the top of my head. I'm getting old / midlife crisis time. Shoot me please!

To rank up you just play the game and leveling Warframes and weapons. Every level that you get, gives you points towards your next rank. When your rank bar starts flashing, then you have to pass the "Rank Up Test". When you pass that particular rank test then you get to work on the next level. All progress points from leveling weapons, frames, whatever is carried over. So you don't lose your points if you keep leveling weapons without taking the test.

If you fail the rank up test, then you can take it again in 24 hours. After you fail a test 2 times I think, you automatically get credit for it and your rank. So sucking at a particular test doesn't doom you. :)

Hope this helps. Enjoy the game!

Words of advice. If your going to spend a little cash (which is awesome), spend it wisely. Purchasing weapons and Warframes is basically pointless as you can earn all of them in game.

Use platinum (real $ = in game platinum) to purchase inventory slots, warframe slots and weapon slots. This will go a long ways, and is your wisest investment.

I just started playing this past weekend. It's been pretty enjoyable although I've only done missions solo so far and am at Excalibur lvl 10 and rank 1. Exterminate and Sabotage are pretty easy solo but the other gametypes I've played have been mostly impossible so I might need to start grouping so I can get some more missions unlocked.

So far all I've bought in the market is the Braton and the Dual Ether schematic. Vor dropped a Cronus schematic which I had the materials for though it doesn't really seem any better than the starting Skana (Whereas the Braton is noticeably better than the MX1-Braton). I also have a Grakata schematic but like the Dual Ether I don't have the materials to craft it yet.

Did you buy the Braton with credits or Plat?

Braton is a good second weapon to move to. Talking about this makes me want to play again...

Make sure that you finish leveling your old weapon for the rank up points. After it has hit level 30 then delete it or keep it for nostalgia. Those MK-1 weapons suck compared to everything else. :)

Credits. Everyone says to save plat for slots so I still have the initial 50 plat waiting to spend on the slots I need first.

...

I think this is a recent thing they added with the latest patch, but you also gain extra loadout slots from ranking up. I got one at 8 and an additional one at 9 for a total of 4. These let you create an entirely different combination of warframe / weapons and store it for later use.

Update 15 is looking to be really interesting. They're adding Noah's Birdlifters (Archwing ;) ) which will enable large-scale space combat with entirely new weapons and abilities.

U15 is live. Let the crashing and bug fixes begin!

Seems pretty stable so far. Knock on wood!

What size is the update? Would like to know what is waiting for me when i get home.

1 GB I believe. Honestly I fired up the launcher to play and saw an update. So I just left it running and went to make breakfast.

What are the benefits of mastering a weapon? I take it mastering means reaching lvl 30 with said weapon. Reason for asking is I read that, that is what you should do before selling your weapon but couldn’t find what the reason is for doing that.

Thanks man, that really helped!

BTW i am working on my first Warframe, the Rhino. Is it any good?

Rhino is the best Warframe for soloing missions due to Iron Skin, so yes Rhino is very good. :)

If you're never going to use it again, just sell it. You won't lose any mods or affinity/XP and you'll free yourself up an inventory slot.

Every level that you get on a weapon adds to your mastery rank. And since you quoted my earlier post I'm sure that you know what leveling mastery rank gets you. :) If you really like a weapon then you want to consider installing a forma aka "potato" when it hits max level. This resets the level on the weapon to 0 and installs an extra polarity slot. So now you have to level it again, but you don't receive rank up points for doing so.

And I agree with Plague_Injected. Rhino is one of the best frames for solo and group play.

Haha, just had to google "forma"
Thanks for the help guys, feels like i have a lot to learn.

To clarify, Formas are NOT potatoes. Potatoes are Orokin reactors and catalysts. See:

http://warframe.wikia.com/wiki/Orokin_Reactor
http://warframe.wikia.com/wiki/Orokin_Catalyst
http://warframe.wikia.com/wiki/Forma

Called potatoes because that's what they look like. They double the amount of capacity gained per level (so 60 cap at level 30, instead of 30). Typically you potato a weapon you like, and then Forma it multiple times if you really intend to keep using it. Forma don't provide nearly the amount of cap boost compared to a catalyst/reactor, but can be applied multiple times whereas you can only use a potato once (called 'supercharging'). Supercharging also doesn't have the max level restriction or penalty like Formas do, so you can use it at rank 0 and gain the benefit all the way up.

In terms of rarity, Forma are actually farmable in Void missions whereas reactors/catalysts are only available from alerts / login reward / platinum.

I just installed the game this weekend, very fun game so far. I've got excalibur to lv18 over the weekend.

Are any of you guys in a clan or want to start one?

Steam name is K2rn2g3 if you want to add

I'm Ochadd in Steam and Warframe if anyone wants to add me.

The new movement is pretty cool. It is much better than I could imagine. If anyone hasn't tried the game in awhile, they should give it another go. Going to try some of the slower melee weapons tomorrow. Before if you couldn't copter with a melee weapon then it was trash. Since they removed coptering and made the base movement so epic, I'm hopeful that weapons like the Scindo Prime are viable again.

And yes, Rebecca is a hottie. :)

I just discovered Warframe last week. The game is ridiculously fun. I cannot believe it is not more popular. I have played an embarrassingly amount over the past week and feel like I have barely scratched the surface.

It's great until it turns into Warfarm. The grind gets insane.

Update 18, cool stuff. Don't forget the game codes at the Warframe Second Dream site still 2 left - https://warframe.com/seconddream/

U18 going live.

Yes its a grinding game but you can have fun in it too, if you don't focus on the grind too much.

Exactly play it for fun and you'll have plenty of frames and weapons to mess around with.

If you're grinding to build certain weapons/frames or trying to max out your mods you're not going to have a good time. It is essentially a casual coop game anyways 99% of the content can be still beaten with the worst weapons and frames.

I took a couple of months off because after 2510 hours my Steam backlog was getting ridiculous.

Link to video from today.

Rebecca who does the interviews and is the voice of the Lotus has great legs.

We're getting a Necro Warframe in update 10.

They showed off a new infested boss that a Tenno's head comes to the boss's knees.

Rebecca's dress was really short.

They are working on adding in more diverse things to do to appease players with 500+ hours logged.

They are going to rework the way armor works so that all guns work well on mobs level 50+. No more junk weapons!

Mods that were rewards from the last event will be available soon in Nightmare mode. They apologized for not letting people know that the events end when it hits 100%.

Showed more art styles for new areas that are coming in Update 10.

Getting new graphics effects. Threaded graphics are being added to the game. Might work around and add PhysX effects to AMD card users.

Found out that Steve plays Path of Exile.

New Corpus super bad guy akin to the same level as Vor.

Rebecca really has great legs. Skip to 1:11:00 to see.

Bunch more like reworking older melee weapons from alerts to match the new ones.

:)

Your fucking creepy dude. get a girlfriend.
