6700K in stock (US)

Meh, no tax here but it's still $13 for shipping atop the $30 gouging, nothx.

And you know, I think I can wait another couple of days rather than give them the satisfaction of paying that.

Stay classy Tiger.

Should we expect widespread availability on August 14th?

I see the i5 in stock at both tiger and the egg.

Unless you have some need in the z170 platform, i'm not sure it'll be worth the cost to upgrade your motherboard and ram as well. If you just want the i7, sell your 4670k and make the jump to a 4790k. It'll cost you less than $100 and you'll have pretty similar performance.

Good opinion, I´ll take it and make that change to i7 4790k.

Sure hope so...got a Maximus VIII Hero and some DDR3000 on the way...

I'm sure if Tiger Direct had it then newegg isn't too far behind.

Same here. Asus Deluxe should be here in a few hours and i've been sitting on DDR4 3000 for over a week. :(

Ditto. ASUS Z170-A, 256GB Samsung SM951, and 32GB of Corsair LPX DDR4 2666 here since Monday... Just waiting on the darn 6700K.

Still not sure whether I'll keep all the RAM or sell two of the four 8GB sticks, but I really wanted very low profile DIMMs in blue and that kit seemed like the best way to get it. Can't test anything until Intel gets their ducks in a row tho.

Tiger says "Out of stock, expected on or around 08/25/2015" now

Still better than NCIX whose pre order notice reads:

This item is not yet available but you can pre-order this now. We will ship this product shortly after its estimated arrival date of 10/02/2015. The final price is subject to change. You will be charged for this item once the ETA is confirmed by the manufacturer.

Paper launch like it's 2005...

My local Microcenter lists the 6600k in stock, but not the 6700k. They also have they 6600k for $269. Who in the world would buy it at that price when the 5820k costs $299? With some of their mobo sales recently, you'd be talking about something like a $50 difference to move up to X99.

Same :(
I'm praying that somebody gets the 6700k in stock before the RMA period on the mobo/RAM run out. I would cry if I couldn't exchange a $250 DOA board...

For anyone wondering about the biz.tigerdirect.com orders, everyone who ordered a 6700k from them on 8/11 was sent an email last night that they will not be receiving them until late August/ early September (date ranges were given but varied from person to person).

That was enough motivation for me to be content with a 6600k for now.

Interesting. I'm really considering just returning my board and going 5820k/X99 as I really can't wait another 2-3 weeks to maybe get a 6700k.

I debated back and forth on 5820k vs 66/6700k. At the end of the day I decided to stick with skylake because I already have the mobo, and the x99 system really wouldn't be noticeably better for my workload. On the oher hand, Skylake chipset features might provide a noticeable benefit in the future. Not sure if there is a wrong answer for 90%* of buyers.

* Statistic precisely measured with a micrometer once pulled out of my ass.

I debated this, in fact I continue to debate it in my head every day I cant buy the 6700k, but what keeps me away from the x99 is the fact that I do not feel the motherboards are as well thought out as the Z170.

I am confident I will get it to work, but many of my friends had odd issues at least 2 had to RMA boards. I also noticed many of the reviews having issues with memory getting to the speeds it should and some overclocking numbers were really poor.

So far it seems like the Z170 is a much smoother experience with less issues. I know it is really too early to say that, but impressions are everything and I have a negative one for the x99.

So I notice newegg now has this "generic mobo + 6700k" combo that is somehow available to order (unless I was just missing it before)?

Maybe a sign that the 6700k will be available to order real soon??

You got a link? I can't find it.

That is weird as hell! Why am I tempted to order?

Don't sweat it, you can't. I would've placed a combo order if they had one with the ASUS Z170-A (even if it meant returning the one I already have to Amazon), but when you try to add that linked item to cart you get:

We’re sorry, the item you selected is a promotional item that is not available for individual sale.
You can have this item by purchasing one of the following bundles:

And the only bundle that shows up is a Cyberpower desktop. :p I dunno how many desktops Cyberpower sells but should they really take priority over hardcore DIY enthusiasts?

I hope Newegg doesn't pull some kinda dick move and limits stock to bundles only, I mean, the 6700K page has been up... (and I keep compulsively refreshing it)

Is there any solid consensus on the best mobo for the 6700k?

Dunno about that... Pretty personal choice, some people like lots of built in extras on their mobo, others don't, some people think a top of the line model might help them achieve a bleeding edge OC, others want something basic or more affordable.

I went with the ASUS Z170-A, had two or three ASUS boards in the past but went with MSI for my 2500K, no major complaints but ASUS' software and UEFI is definitely more polished overall so I wanted to try them again.

For a basic mobo the only fault I could find with the Z170-A was the paltry 6 USB ports on the back (one being Type C, so more like 5), but that's all I need and if I need more I can grab a hub. The Gaming Pro or whatever is similarly priced and has more rear ports but only one internal 3.0 header, I prefer two and prefer the looks of the Z170-A.

The Z97-A and X99-A were also pretty well reviewed, as was the Z170 Deluxe today by Dan, so I don't expect any surprises with the Z170-A. There's a bunch of reviews out for it, tho I trust Hard's the most.

was really hoping to see it in stock today. :(

I'm really starting to think late August/early September probably sounds about right. :(

Honestly I may just go with a 5820k by middle of next week if things stay this way.

I'm so glad bought my z170 board already. I get impatient and probably would have already jumped on a 5820k.
