GRIP - Kickstarter

It looks cool but I can't see it being funded with that goal

1/2 a million for a game with at most a niche appeal?

That isn't happening

Has my attention. Not enough to back this, but will keep an eye on it over the next year and a half.

Reminded me a little of this... would love to play these again...

Would be cooler if they were Pod Racers, to be honest those cars look no fun at all. They are also asking WAYYYYY too much.

I have been wanting a racing + weapons game since Road Redemption was mentioned. It looks fun. Not a fan of D & B though.

This looks like it would be really fun. I don't really understand the decision to Kickstart it though.

For one, as has been said by many, why do they need $500k? Especially when the game already appears to have a pretty functional prototype. It seems like an awfully loft goal, I don't see them making it. This seems to me like it would make a better candidate for Early Access. Get their prototype into a playable enough state to release, and then use the EA sales to fund development of a full games worth of content and multiplayer.

It's definitely moving forward, 95k is a pretty solid chunk of change - but it's almost certainly not fast enough. Seems like a lot of Kickstarter projects doom themselves with bonkers goals. Of course, they then walk away with zilch.

These guys are already Greenlit on steam, look to have pretty solid progress on the actual game already made and are a tiny team. They honestly need $500,000 at that point?

95k is not bad, I agree. But nearly a week into it means the honeymoon is over. Many of the people who would have gotten really excited over this have already paid up. Many KSes I keep tabs on need to get the bulk of their funding the first week to be successful. There's always the final 24 hour bump, but that's usually most successful when a game is really close and just needs a little bit of TLC to cross the line.

If this tapers off, which I suspect it will, there won't be enough backers at the end to toss them an extra couple bucks to make it.
