If you think people are upset now that India is clamping down on porn, wait until next week when an entire country has gone seven days without porn.

India has blocked hundreds of adult websites to prevent pornography becoming a social nuisance, a government official said on Monday, sparking a debate about censorship and freedom in the world's largest democracy. In India's first big crackdown on Internet porn, service providers have been directed to block 857 websites.

It's good thing that India has no other problems than internet porn.

i say that because countries without porn have lots of terrorists.

But as long as there is still a regular production of indian pron, then I will be fine. I will gladly provide vpn services to indians in trade for pron!

This is an amazing market opportunity for any company that will mirror the major blocked sites dynamically, and faster than the new blocks will come

"Last month, the Supreme Court refused to impose an outright ban after hearing a petition that said Internet porn fueled sex crime."

The petition is a lie because studies have shown the opposite is true.

I personally know a woman that was in Red Cross or Job Corp, I'm not exactly sure what capacity she was in to be over there that was sexually assaulted, basically had her clothes pulled on, ripped and her breasts and ass grouped at when she was over there in 2001 or 2002.

There have also been some high profile sexual attacks on Americans in the last handful of years. I think the US may have even issues travel warnings to this effect.

It's very very dangerous for women to travel alone and especially for foreigners in India. I think there are more men than women in India and also they have the cast system / family honor / dowry and all that shit over there. In short, It's hard for these guys to get laid over there. It's also very common for prostitutes to hide their STD status from customers out of fear of losing them. I saw a big thing on that on PBS.

Porn is a way to vent.

This is only going to put more pressure on all these testosterone fueled guys over there without their porn.

Just torrent it? Or just take care of business the old fashioned way? a handy and your imagination! We call it an old fashioned.

857? Good thing they don't know about the other 9 billion sites.

Why don't they work on cleaning up the Ganges River? That thing is disgusting.

Cost? Its free to block internet pages but not so much for cleaning up a river. Millions of dollars there.

India is a democracy (the world's largest, as a matter of fact), and they also tend to be more conservative on average than many places in the US. Wealthier people (wealthy enough to care about the internet at least) are much more likely to vote. Therefor, talking about "clamping down" on internet porn is nothing more than bullshit aimed at easy votes - the same sort of thing we see all the time here in the US.

It's free to block internet pages?

This is not true at all. Your parents didn't teach you, nothing is free in this world :p
