NCASE M1: a crowdfunded Mini-ITX case (updates in first post)

anyone that ordered just the fan bracket get tracking or receive it yet? i havent heard anything since the email that said tracking should be in by the 24th

Yep, but the tracking numer was "MAIL", most likely meaning it's untrackable air or surface mail.

Is anyone still looking for an M1 V4 (silver)? I ordered one and it has passed customs already but I won't be able to complete the build I had in mind due to some money issues.. I'm in Vancouver, Canada.

Btw, I apologize if this is against the rules!

Finished my build just now. The only issue I had was with the internal power cable that comes with the case and my PSU; I have a Corsair RM650i (the new one) and the plug is not facing (what appears to be) the proper direction. It also is a bit jiggly in the power connector on the PSU, and I had to orient it just right in order to get my machine to power on. Not sure if this is actually the cable or the PSU power connector.

If the current status of my order is "inbound out of customs" does that mean it is still in customs? If so, it has been there for five days now. :(

Got my v4, and put two AIO coolers in it.

Impressive build, evera. I'm considering doing something quite similar, but have a few questions. Any chance you could comment?

1) How is the noise? I'd also like to fit an overclocked 5XXX processor and a powerful card in mine, but I was afraid that two AIOs might be quite loud. This is my primary concern, and the only one really holding me back from pulling the trigger. I'm much less concerned about the load noise than idle / startup.

2) How difficult was it to squeeze everything in and route the tubes? At least from your photos, it looks like you were able to fit everything in rather neatly. No problems with the two rads side by side on the bracket?

3) How are you doing airflow? Do you have both of the rads doing intake, and if so, are your temps okay?

Any comments you could provide would be greatly appreciated. Congrats!

So how much clearance is there with a Silverstone 500 Sfx-l and a full length card? Especially one with a backplate?

Are there any replacement cables with a smaller profile?

2-3mm of clearance without a backplate, give or take a few mm depending on how much gpu sag and wire stripping you are comfortable with (the latter is not recommended)

Which GTX 970 should i purchase for the ncase v3?

To my understanding the Asus Strix won't fit inside without a "mod"
to the fans frame, (the plastic part). So, I was thinking perhaps
the 4GB MSI Version, (Gaming 4G Version) or perhaps EVGA SSO or FTW?

Or Perhaps just take the gigabyte mini itx?

Also, can i run the card with 450w PSU (silverstone).
My box is an i4770k, (no OC)' with 240GB Samsung Pro ssd and 16gb or ram.

Thanks.

If I was in the market for a 970, I would probably go with the iChill from Inno3D, atleast if you have a spot to mount the 120mm rad. A card as cool as the 970 should really thrive in a tight space with watercooling.

Thanks for the Advice, the card looks like a beast, however the inno3D card is not
available for purchase where i live... any idea regarding the models above?

Got my v4, and put two AIO coolers in it.

The dust filter on the fan bracket is nice, but my radiator screws make it bulge a little bit. Are there dust filters for the other case holes? Do these fit the v4? http://www.demcifilter.com/c220/NCASE-M1.aspx

nice build! what sort of temps do you get on the i7 (clockspeed/volts etc) with a slim 120mm rad and single fan? i have a an i7 3820 im planning to OC (via BLCK) and the old h100 that came attached to it is getting pretty worn. wondering how viable a 120mm rad is for a high tdp cpu.

Nice build. Weren't these filters intended for intake rather than exhaust though?

My fans are set for intake (they're set to pull)

I haven't tried to OC my 5960x but it goes to 55-60C under 30min of prime64 (20-25C ambient)

I'm actually waiting on a new 980 ti hybrid because the one i got has a loud buzzing noise from the pump :S

Build my PC in a midtower and planning to sell my all new M1V3. too bad the For Sale thread does not allow newbies to post any new threads. Any idea where I can sell this case to the enthusiasts in HForum. I am avoiding Ebay as I don't think most of them appreciate the case as much as the community inside here. I am currently in Germany.

Is it a really bad idea to use an open fan (after market) 980 ti with the M1, like an EVGA 980ti with ACX 2.0?

Wow... Taiwan Post really does suck. They are just now "preparing shipment from origin post." Sat there at "processed through sort facility" since early last week until now.

ne1?

Have you tried outtake? Are there any temp differences?

I would rather have them push warm air outside, instead of pushing it inside the case

I haven't - those are my only two fans (beside the one in the PSU) and I don't want to use a negative pressure build - my place is quite dusty.

It's pulling cool air directly from the side of the case (outside) so it should be fine.

I hate to be a nag but i'm very frustrated with this shipping. I know it is not NCASE fault for shipping to take forever, but dam....I was really upset knowing that I ordered my V3 just one month before the V4 was announced (missed out on some filters) and I am finding out now that people are receiving the V4 before my V3 even leaves Taiwan? My packaged was shipped on May 21st. The most updated status on June 5th says "Processed Through Sort Facility, location Keelung, Taiwan.". I contacted support and they instructed to wait till the end of the month to ask again. I just need to vent a little. I've had my PC sitting on my desk with no home for a month already :(

I bet its those darn Somalia pirates holding my case hostage.

And I was getting frustrated over my delay, I couldn't imagine yours. What shipping method did you do? I've been tracking quite a few of the V4 owners and most of them all shipped out on the 15-16th and arrived at people's locations (even the one that says they used TW Surface when they are located in the eastern US; that is suppose to be a 4+ week delivery). Mine has been stuck at "processed through sort facility" in Taiwan since the morning of the 22nd (I paid for TW Air). This morning it finally hit "preparing for shipment" but that was at like 2AM EST. I can almost guarantee it'll be "preparing for shipment" for another 2 days with how inept TW Post has been so far. I've ordered multiple items from Japan, S. Korea, and it seems their postal offices are ontop of things. Taiwan Post? Not so much...

It could be me lack of patience too (and most definitely is)... :D

I got my case a few days ago, and I didn't even choose the most expensive shipping option. Sorry for those that are still waiting.

It sounds like you chose surface shipping? That does take a long time - up to 10 weeks from the ship date, not including customs processing in your country. You're at about 9 and a half weeks now, so it hopefully won't be too much longer.

It's not possible for surface shipped v4s to have arrived in the US yet. Either there was a mistake in the spreadsheet entries (e.g., choosing surface instead of SAL), or it was shipped by SAL or air for some other reason.

When did you order? W360 started submitting orders placed earlier (i.e., in June) to TWPS a few days before the 15th so they could get started. So if you ordered closer to the 15th, your order would be shipped a bit later.

I got mine today! I chose TW AIR and I'm located in Vancouver, Canada. The best part is that I didn't even have to pay any duty! :D

I decided that I'm going to bite the financial bullet and go through with my build.. this case is just too nice to part with. Here are the parts I ordered right after receiving the case:

PSU: EVGA SuperNOVA 550 GS ATX
Motherboard: ASUS Z97I-PLUS
CPU: Intel 4690K
Cooler: Noctua NH-U9S
RAM: Kingston HyperX Fury 16GB
GPU: ASUS GTX 970 DC Mini
SSD: Samsung EVO 500GB

Yeah so I decided the right way to go for me was an ATX PSU with an ITX GPU. Silence is my top priority and I absolutely had to have a GTX 970. I also wanted to go pure air as I plan to take this with me on flights as my carry on. I wasn't willing to take any chances with the SX500-LG and getting a noisy one. Maybe once SFX PSUs are more established I'll switch it out and upgrade to a new GPU, although that may be years down the road. The only thing I'm not 100% sure of is the GPU.. I'm not sure exactly how quiet it is but reviews say it is very quiet. Does anyone have one?

I'm also planning to orient the NH-U9S in a vertical position, so that it is intaking air from the GPU area and exhausting it out the top. Just wondering if it's okay to use a pull configuration (so that the fan is closest to the roof of the case)? I think it would just be easier to clean the heatsink of dust this way. It seems like most people use a push configuration though..

This is my third build and I'm by far the most excited for this one! Can't wait to see how it's going to turn out.

Oops sorry, I didn't see this message.

3) How are you doing airflow? Do you have both of the rads doing intake, and if so, are your temps okay?

Any comments you could provide would be greatly appreciated. Congrats!

1) The noise is mostly the noisy pump in my 980 ti hybrid right now - I'm asking EVGA for a replacement that should show up sometime this week or next. Besides that, I can't hear much because I only have the two noctua fans on intake (plus the PSU and GPU vrm fans). I'll get back to you on this when I get my new GPU. Right now it's quite annoying to keep next to me on the desk because of the 980 ti pump buzzing.

2) The rads have to be mounted with the tubes on the bottom. I couldn't get any other configuration to work - if the tubes were on the top, it would hit parts of the case, and if they were mounted sideways, they would prevent the other rad from being able to be screwed in. The tubes were tricky to fit - I have it so that my CPU tubes are going in a sort of circle, and my GPU tubes go along the GPU backplate and below the CPU tubes. Probably the hardest part of the build was figuring out a way to get these to fit

3) I haven't stress tested it yet, but temps seem OK so far: GPU climbs to about 50-55C after 20 min of FurMark and CPU climbs to 55-60C after 30min of prime64. This is all with stock speeds. I'll update more once I replace my GPU.
I have both rads doing intake, yes.

Yeah, i chose TW Ground thinking that it would take 4 weeks max. Now im sitting here goin nearly on 2 months. Keep in mind that i placed the order in early May also so I'm super eager to start building :( Hope you guys get your cases soon too!

You all are perfectly fine! If anything, you guys are doing exceptional work with the limited resources with the amount of orders processed. I completely understand the aspect of having the orders placed early makes it so the shipping occurs earlier too.

It moreso comes down to the snail pace of TW Post itself (even with expedited shipping), absolutely nothing in your control. I don't think I have ever seen a "processed through sort facility" take almost a week until now. I ordered a few things from S. Korea a few weeks back and that sort facility process took maybe 1 day tops. It is just a head-scratcher as to why the TW Post seems to take 5x more time than others, lol.

The noise is mostly the noisy pump in my 980 ti hybrid right now... I'll get back to you on this when I get my new GPU.

I haven't stress tested it yet, but temps seem OK so far... I'll update more once I replace my GPU.

Many thanks for the reply! This is all very helpful information. If EVGA can get you a quieter pump, this will be an amazing setup. You've got substantially lowered GPU temps, great performance, and (hopefully) fairly quiet operation. Sounds like you did some pretty ingenious acrobatics with the tubing, as well.

A full custom loop on a 240 mm rad might be a tad cleaner, but for someone of my level of skill and patience (both low), two 120mm AIOs is attractive. I'd likely be running a 5820K in mine, too, so a mild OC might be possible. Please do let us know how things work out when your new card comes in. I've heard a few other complaints about the noise on that card, so I'm also keeping an eye on the evolving Fury X noise issue, as well as other setups. But if the hybrid 980 ti and the H75 can keep it down at idle, I'm pretty much sold. Thanks again!

If you mount an SFX-L power supply sideways and against the front wall of the case, will there be enough space for cable routing with a full length gpu?

Cable routing to where?

I mean like, freeing up the required tight 90 degree bend due to clearance between the SFX-L and GPU.

Can a work-around work using the ATX bracket and SFX->ATX adapter that's included with, say, the Silverstone SX-500LG?
