Apparently Gearbox has done some concept development for a new Duke Nukem game but the developer may ultimately end up outsourcing it. Anyone interested in more Duke Nukem?

We’ve done some concept development [for a new game] and I think the challenges are there. Gearbox is very busy. I think the faster way is that a correct developer can become interested and we can work with them. I think it’s a challenging problem. But, I’ll tell you one thing. When it does happen, there’s no doubt that the whole industry will turn its head and look.

Duke Nukemville ... the hit new Facebook game ... build your apocalyptic city and compete with your friends and millions of other Facebook players :p

Benukemed ... match various Nukem characters for fast paced action :D

Nukem Crush Saga ... more fast paced family fun in the Duke Nukem Universe ... coming soon :cool:
 
Oh please, just let Duke Nukem die with what little dignity it has left.

The original was fun...

...when I was a teenager.

But games have come so far since, to leave it in the dust. (and its sophomoric humor didn't help)

it would have been better fondly and nostalgically remembered from the 90's than remade.

Gearbox and outsourcing? The last time that happened we got the disaster that was Aliens: Colonial Marines.

Of course it did, it made a profit for the publisher and that's what makes a success. That's why games are so bad these days, it's all about the benjamins.
 
I wish they would remake Duke Nukem 3D. Leave the game the same, just update it to the most modern graphics. That would bring back lots of old gaming memories for me.

That's even less likely than seeing a new Duke game that isn't crap. An independent mod team could pull something off in another game, but considering the scale it would likely end up as one of those things never completed. A random dev that's interested in producing a game for sale couldn't pull it off without licensing the IP, and even then how much could they really charge for the game to turn a profit for the studio. A bigger publisher wouldn't bother since the multiplayer aspect alone doesn't fit into the popular(money making) trends in gaming.

And it must still include the .INI file where you could modify a bunch of stuff including making a mini-nuke out of the rocket launcher.

Step out from behind wall, fire launcher, step back behind wall. Then watch the flash of light. Step out from behind wall and find absolutely everything on the screen dead.
 
There's a new Duke Nukem game coming? Sweet, I'll just get into my time machine, set it to 15 years in the future, and let you guys know how it is!
 
Count me out. Loved the side scroller and DN3d, but DNF was crap. I bought it for Xbox 360 for $4 or something. It was a decent game, but it was a $4 game.

It could go either way. There is a tiny, sliver of a chance it's a kick ass game. Odds are definitely against it, though.
 
just... don't ruin it.

and i might be alone here - but don't make it all about 'adult' stuff either :p
 
It's a good game I have about 350 hours on the Multiplayer I sucked at first then got better then the Russians got really good then people stopped playing the game. I made most of my current Steam Friends in Duke Nukem they turned out to be cool guys..

.97 KD ratio =P Ranked 330 though with the Ranking I would be higher but the Ranking system reset like one or twice so everyone went back to zero otherwise I would be in the top 200....

Oh people really quit in droves when the Hackers got hold of the game......the top guy you see in the pic is a Hacker for sure most of them are.
 
Duke Nukem needs to regain his dignity after what they did to him, but I am not confident that we will see a good game. DNF was almost as bad as Daikatana, both games which I could never finish.

They should call it Duke Nukem Redemption
 
cant they just remake the original with modern graphics engines and add multiplayer?

that would be way better than the DNF fiasco
 
Remakes can be really good and I hope Duke gets the remake he really deserves. Look at Wolfenstein, that's a proper remake.

Guys, that was already attempted:

The short version: Gearbox gave permission to make the mod, but then later changed their mind and shut it down because they thought it would destroy DNF sales because it looked and played better.
 
Watch them outsource the game and it will turn into another Aliens: Colonial Marines debacle. :p
 
I rather see Quake, on the lines of the first one, of course with all updated graphics though. There's just something about the first one's architecture and atmosphere. And the mods too, especially Threewave CTF. I still mess with it every so often.
 
DNF i really disliekd cause of the maps desings. everything was small shooting teents. you go in here and it looks behind you and in forn of you and you can leave when everthings is dead and you move to the next little shooting tent.

DN3d you was more maze liek and you neede to back track and find secret parts of the actual map no just stupid joke secrets

i love the exploration parts of the old shooters today is just stand and deliver then move to next tiny area. same with max payne 3. same with Serious sam 2.

Duke Nukem's Back.

He can be standing atop a pile of alien corpses staring off at the horizon looking into a mushroom cloud. There, I already put more thought into it than DNF.

Omg CTF ftw! That was one of the first "competitive" modes i played in fps.
