Acer G257HU 25", WQHD, DVI/HDMI/DP $280

I'm a bit out of the whole "What monitor is best" thing, but I've been wanting to replace the three 23" Asus Monitors on my iRacing rig for something a bit bigger and WHQD res.

Acer are really going crazy with monitor releases recently

Acer's tend to suffer from really obvious overshoot ghosting and do not have overdrive controls. Best to wait for reviews or buy the Dell variant since newer Dells have overdrive controls.

Not sure if you're still looking for information on the monitor - but I just got one from Amazon a week ago, and it is absolutely incredible. It replaced my 23" Acer monitor as well (X233H, 1920x1080) and the difference is beyond night and day. It may not be a 1ms "gaming" monitor, but even so the response time is a huge upgrade from the old monitor. The colors are amazing (I need it as my main monitor for graphics work), the contrast is amazing, and it absolutely DOES have overdrive control options in the OSD. You can also adjust CMYK values in addition to the standard RGB, as well as the gamma level and pixel mapping. It's got DisplayPort, HDMI and DL DVI connections and has built in speakers (which are crappy as all hell, but we don't buy flat panel displays for their speakers now do we? lol).

If you're still up in the air about this monitor - come back down - get this thing, I couldn't be happier with it.

NOTE: It's an IPS panel - so while it gives amazing colors that don't shift when you change your viewing angle, you do see some "IPS glow". If you're unsure about what that is, go ahead and look it up. This was my first IPS panel, so I was a little scared at first, but now that the dust has settled, I'd take an IPS panel over a TN panel any day.

price is $249 at amazon. The U2515H is still $359.
it is not simple to decide between them:
the U2515H comes with a pivoting stand and has MST DP-out for triple monitor setup.
The acer has DVI, so for the very rare users that have video cards ONLY with DVI, it is the solution. On the other hand, it is much more complex to build triple monitors setups at this resolution whithout acess to displayport

Also, you can snag the refurbished Acer G257HU for $229 on Amazon. That $229 is the grand total, too, shipping is free and everything. I'm not one to buy refurbished items, but I decided to try my luck with the factory refurbished model - and I'm I'm extremely glad I did. It's essentially the same as brand new - visually and functionally indistinguishable. It comes packaged like a new monitor, comes with all the cables and protective materials...plus all the potential kinks are worked out

I'm just really happy with this purchase, and since I couldn't find a whole lot of info on it before I bought it, I figured I'd share for others who might be curious.
