Batman: Arkham Knight

Ah yes the old "I can run it so everyone else is doing some wrong" argument. The moment you make that argument I want nothing to do with the discussion.

And you're not? It runs bad for some. Therefore its a port. Don't be a hypocrite.

Little news flash for you. People who are playing the game fine don't make post about how well it runs. Don't believe all the crap you read on the internet.

Thats no better than "This game won't run for me and/or my unique configuration or does such-and-such thing I don't like, therefore it MUST be broken for everyone and is total shit".

That's the nature of PCs. Batman: AK runs fine for me yet horribly for many others. With literally millions of configurations software is never going to run the same across the board. Any combination of things could cause it to run well or run poorly. That's also why sometimes even great PC games that are generally considered free of major bugs simply don't work properly on some systems where it theoretically should.

That's pretty much what I was thinking as well. All it takes is one thing in a system to fudge up and it can affect everything. And there's lots of stuff going on in the system all the time.

During the part where you're fighting from the Jokerized Batmobile, when you get the prompt to "Use the Killing Joke", that barrage was pretty much stop motion for how many missiles went off. It was a great thing though to see them reference the comic. Other than that, I had ok FPS after that small patch. 40-45 pretty steady compared to single digits to teens before.

Also, did anyone else feel sorta bad when the Joker was getting hauled away in the cell and said "I need you" to Batman? I dont think I'd ever heard the Joker sound so desperate before. Hamill really nailed that line. I almost, almost felt bad for him..... for like 1 or 2 seconds. ;)

As someone who hasn't started playing yet (I keep missing out on the $20 codes in the FS/T forum), it's nice to see spoiler tags being widely used in this thread. Thank you. I definitely don't want my first playthrough experience with the last and best Arkham game to be ruined prematurely.

Unfortunately I already know to expect some type of awesome jump scare at some point, but I don't know when it/they will happen.

Did I say it's a port because it runs bad? If Unity wasn't shit across the board Ubisoft wouldn't have canceled the season pass, profusely apologized, gave people who bought the season pass a free game, and spent months fixing it. If AK was n'ta shit port (already confirmed that it's a port) WB wouldn't have pulled it from sale, apologized, and promised to get it fixed before it went back on sale.

There are some cases where problems get overblown but Unity and AK aren't ones.

Apart from the bugs if you have it on PC, it's awfully fun. I'm playing it on my PS4. Shame there is no naked Harley Quinn though, she looks hotter/cuter in this game compared to the previous Batman Arkham games.

ughh you don't get it.

Honestly i don't even care. People can whine and cry all they want about performance on there bad PC's. It usually leads to something free for me :p

Derangel save your breath arguing with Dion, it is common knowledge that his PC was hand crafted by the Greek gods in the depths of Mount Doom on the eve of the winter solstice when all the planets in the solar system were perfectly aligned. It is powered by fairy dust and unicorn farts, and is adorned with dragon scales enchanted by the most powerful fictional mages inhabiting the Forgotten Realms universe.Given its mythological and magical properties, his PC can run any broken ass AAA game at silky smooth frames consistently above 144fps at 8K even with Nvidia GameWorks effects cranked to maximum detail!

Post of the year nominee right here folks! :D

Dam right it is.

I guess its just funny how when someone says it runs bad it becomes instant fact.

But when someone says it runs well. They are outcast and are called a liar. But hey thats the gaming community.. Jump on the bandwagon or you are an outsider.

Game is running like a champ since I installed my 980 ti. Averaging upwards of 60 fps Max details at 1440p with all gameworks enabled.

How is it with stuttering though?

Even on my 780 Ti I was able to hit 144fps capped with Gsync on (with the GW stuff off, that is) but the stuttering was awful. Anytime you glide or haul ass in the Batmobile it would stutter like hell. And I'm running Samsung 850 Pros.

the big distinction is when the developer/publisher says the game runs bad and needs 'significant work as was the case with Arkham Knight and Assassin's Creed: Unity...do you think Ubisoft would give out free games and DLC if the game only had issues for people running older cards???...do you think WB/Steam would pull Arkham Knight from retail channels if the game ran great???...get real...I don't believe for a second that these games are running as great as you claim when first released...prove it, show me some screenshots/videos with everything maxed out and something like MSI Afterburner/ShadowPlay running...it's simple to do

but of course you won't as you'll make up some excuse why you can't do it...with your 'apparent' super powered system any performance hit would ne negligible...show us the videos and shut everyone up

I have a i5 2500k @ 4.2ghz and a 970 Ti. Who said it was super powered? I play the game at max settings and 60fps is my goal @1080p. And batman delivers there and so does Unity. And if you knew anything about PC's you would know that recording games takes a performance hit on recording. So even if posted a video you would say.. OH LOOK ITS LOWER FPS DERP DERP DERP.

I can post ss's but even then you wouldn't believe it.

I haven't had any stuttering with my Titan X (SLI disabled, becuase that caused issues). FPS isn't locked at 60 but playing 3440x1440 maxed and it doesn't ever go under 30. Since it's a 3rd person game lower FPS doesn't bother me here and there.

I'd definitely fire it up and give it a try. I was pleasantly surprised. I thought I was watching a cinematic but it was actually the game.

you say the same thing about every single game which makes people question your findings...you said Unity ran at 60fps and perfect on Day 1 meanwhile people with Titan cards were having major issues maintaining anything close to 60fps

ShadowPlay doesn't take as big of a performance hit...record some video for us noobs who don't know how to get those amazing frame rates and show us the PC settings options you have enabled...I have a GTX 970 and a 6 core Intel chip (an older one but still a very good one)...I have Arkham Knight but haven't touched it yet as I want them to 'fix' the game first...I want the 30fps capped removed (without touching the ini files), all advanced graphics options enabled, stuttering fixed, Batmobile frame rate issues fixed, GameWorks to not cause huge drops in performance etc etc...playing it now just because I can play it is not something I want to do...there's nothing like playing a game for the first time so I want the best experience

you still haven't answered why WB pulled the game or why Ubisoft gave away free swag if the game was running so good

There is only a significant hit if you use shitty software like FRAPS. In my experience Shadow Play and Open Broadcaster Software (OBS) have virtually no impact when recording, especially at 1080p. Unless your game is barely managing to average 60FPS both pieces of software should be fine.

PS: There is no such thing as a 970 Ti.

I'm going to replay Arkham Asylum while waiting for Arkham Knight to get patched...Asylum was an underrated game...even though the scope of the world was smaller, in some ways it was better then Arkham City

Asylum was amazing. I'd go so far as to say it's one of the best Metriodvania style games that came out in the last console generation.

Agreed. I really liked City but AA, despite having the smallest feeling world and fewest gadgets, was sooo good.

These games exemplify why I'm a gamer.

Asylum was so good because everything was tightly woven. I guess a smaller scope allows for that kind of attention to detail. As soon as they started opening things up was when things started going wrong. Asylum is still one of my top games of the last 10 years and quite possibly of all time.

Well I snagged a code thanks to LurkerLito. Kind of a pity really, since I wanted to support Rocksteady but I do not want to support WB when they knowingly released the game in such a flawed state. So no, you're not getting my $60 or even my $40 but maybe if you redeem yourselves I'll pick up the Season Pass at some point.

Thanks Lito!

Any info on patches? I don't really want to touch this until I can play at 60FPS.

Nothing so far. Disappointing that there has been little communication, when compared to what CDPR has done so far with Witcher 3.

Asylum is not underrated by anyone, anywhere. It sold well, was critically acclaimed all over and people reminisce about it in a very positive manner. Hell, I think it still sells quite a few copies in the steam sales.

I don't think it was overshadowed by Arkham City at all, either, as you can't talk about one without talking about the other. I love each of the games for their own particular qualities which are rather different from each other, actually.

Agreed. Maybe underrated when it first came out, but definitely not now looking back.

Asylum is probably one of the best games from the last decade. Unlike the newer games, you were a bit more confined. At the same time that allowed them to better shape and choreograph the story, battles, and exploration paths.
Subsequent games have been larger and have done certain things better - but none were as polished from beginning to end as Asylum.

I still haven't played this one. I'm waiting for some more updates from Rocksteady before I take the plunge. Luckily I'm probably only about 1/4 of the way into the Witcher 3 and am in no rush.

With no multiplayer and fixes by "the fall" according to their Steam page, it's a wise choice to wait.

The Steam page doesn't say anything about when the fixes are coming. The notice about the SteamOS, Mac, and Linux versions of the game coming in the Fall have been there for weeks (at least) prior to launch.

WB announced a few days back (when announcing the Batgirl DLC) that the game would be re-released on PC later this month...I'm not expecting everything to be fixed by then but I'm sure it'll be in much better shape...I'm going to start it up when it's re-released

Do you have a source on that? Everything I can find still says the Windows version will relaunch alongside the Linux and MacOS versions in September.

Warner Bros. released a press release for Batman: Arkham Knight advertising the first DLC...The last sentence said: “The PC version of the game will be available in the coming weeks”

godfuckingdammit...

I'm not excusing the fact that they released their product in a poor state, but I much prefer the up front and aggressive solutions provided by CDPR to this. Communicate to us, don't ignore us. Frustrating.

I think there's so much work to be done to 'fix' the PC version that Rocksteady honestly has no idea how long it'll take...it's better then giving an exact date or week and then having to delay it again...I actually prefer this method where they work on releasing a major patch versus releasing a minor patch every week or 2

Warner Brothers is a corporation with up to 17,000 employees on any given day.
CDPR has 230 employees.

That's basically the answer. One answers to investors and the other has to answer to fans.

I'm not saying I need an exact date, but communication giving a ballpark idea of when things may be resolved would be helpful. Doesn't cost them anything.

I understand what you mean, but communicating with gamers and getting the game back on sale when it's in a reasonable state is surely accretive to investors. Just seems short sighted to ignore people.

I'm probably overreacting, I'm just cranky about not being able to play the game. I was so damn excited...
