If you were planning on buying some Red Bull to get the promotional Destiny DLC, you should probably hold off on that for a bit.

Somehow, people figured out how these codes work—and now others can compose their very own Red Bull Destiny codes without actually having to buy anything. Alarmingly, it’s as simple as putting together certain letters and numbers together in specific patterns, and it actually works.

There is a thread on this on a very popular gaming forum that explains how to do it (don't want to direct anyone to it, as I don't want to promote this). There are hundreds if not thousands of people doing this. Someone is going to get fired.

Why not? Its not like Bungie has turned into a completely money grubbing company now and doesn't deserve it.

Someone link for the lazy. What does the code do anyway?

Red bull site down, but here. I support screwing those money grub bing bastards:

1: Go to http://quest.redbull.com
2: Make up a code, using only the numbers 3, 4 and 7, and incorporate TWO letters into it, using only the letters X C, and K

Example: X37377C4 or 437C3K43 (These work BTW, someone use them)

3: Check the agreement box, and hit enter
4: You now have the exclusive mission for Destiny plus a 50% XP boost.

Good, fuck bungie for this. Seriously.

I used this same type of crap when Ubisoft made you 'buy' shaving cream for AC:Unity gear. All I did was goto the store and take a pic of the code off the can.

Too late Bungie, I'm still not buying this stupid DLC. Fuck you.

Apparently I'm annoyed enough that I can't compose my thoughts on this. I'm not even going to bother cheating this because that would require me to buy the $40.00 DLC from Bungie anyway, that is probably only about 4 hours of game play anyway.Realistically Destiny should have launched with all this content for the first $60. Their "special edition" re-release is a slap in the face to everyone currently playing.

Why would you even want a 50% xp boost? Wouldn't that throw off gameplay balance?

Well I want the boost because I am mad at bungie and want them to have to pay the cost for creating it. I mean they have to pay to make it right, that's what the RIAA and MPAA have taught me that lost digital goods are expensive.

No, experience is basically for maxing out stats on gear and weapons which all have a hard cap anyhow. Getting to level 20 which is the level cap only takes a day if that and the rest of the levels are gear based which hard cap at 34.

I still enjoy destiny..But I will not be buying TTK and as such don't give a flying rats ass about the red bull crap. At this point unless they do a complete 180 on how they are handling TTK, I'm essentially done. I've done everything there is to do in HoW, all my weapons are maxed, I have everything I want and enjoyed every minute of it. But if TTK is the final stretch of Destiny, it doesn't justify it's value to me in any way. I'll keep my eyes open to see how Destiny 2 is, but I won't be holding my breath either. I have too many other games to play anyhow. Given I stream and youtube, and 99% of my viewer base is all around other games, Destiny is just a fun diversion for me that I can part with easily.

i don't get how someone could come up with such a crappy encoding. it offers way too few combinations to allow for all potential customers to redeem a code.

Looking at the way it was described above, I gather that it's effectively a base 3 number with 8 digits; when I went to a base 3 to decimal converter, 22222222 in base 3 equals 6560 in decimal, meaning there would be 6560 possible codes if you could use numbers with less than 8 digits. If the number must have 8 digits, then it would be even less, but my math sucks and some math wiz is going to have to step in and tell me the easy way to calculate that.

Bungie apparently doesn't care if multiple people use the same code; can you even turn it in more than once per account? Printing millions of unique codes would probably cost a lot more than printing, say, a few dozen.

That people are claiming that the codes they obtained by buying cans don't work suggests there are codes on cans that aren't working for anybody, either through a bug on the website or miscommunication with Red Bull about which codes to print on the cans.

Just randomly typed out something with 7s en 3s and some letters according to the instructions above, worked great.

...Don't have Destiny though :D

Yeah poor me, Bungie forced me to buy the game and all the DLC's and play it for 1400 hours so far, making it 500000000 times better value than Bloodborne.

Next they're going to put a gun to my head and force me to buy the taken king! What a travesty!

I swear Bungie has more stalking haters like you than any game ever. Like, people literally stalk the game. It's so unnatural.

It doesn't seem to be working at least not for me. First one worked fine, I got my "concentrated light" or whatever it was called from the in game postmaster that gives 50% bonus XP for 30 minutes.

I tried a couple more times sometimes it wouldn't take the code. A couple times it said the code was redeemed successfully, but nothing appeared in the game. Dunno if they're just shutting it down because of abuse or what.

TBH it's no big deal, increased XP only applies to weapons, armor, and subclass, it's really not that important, even if this exploit was working perfectly doubt I'd be arsed to re-do it every 30 minutes, that should tell you how important it is. It would just basically get that next piece of armor or gun leveled 50% faster, but that's really not a huge deal.

Then the mission is probably short and well, I dont really care much either, and it's not available until Sep 15. But I should have it on my first succesful redeem (the one that unquestionably worked) anyway.

I guess Bungie can go back to killing people's dogs and stealing their babies again. Those poor, poor message board people :)
