AMD Fury Series is here. Discussion thread.

For those who need DVI-D, mine came with an adapter in the box, Sapphire brand.

Also, runs like a champ and freesync is nice.

AMD Radeon R9 Fury X took the lead in the top class of single-processor accelerator (400-800 dollars), confidently beating the recently released single processor flagship NVIDIA - GeForce GTX 980 Ti. Moreover, in a number of tests R9 Fury X is at a much more expensive product from the premium segment - GTX Titan X. A 2-3 Fury X test performance even reached the level of Radeon R9 295X2 (of course, we are not talking about a low-resolution, where speed can be limited by the graphics card environment).

Because for the same price, NV has a competitor that is objectively and subjectively faster, according to all the reviews available. Some sites have it faster than NV's offerings at 4k, but they all agree that no single card runs 4k at any worthwhile settings/FPS so that becomes irrelevant.

Further, AMD made statements to the effect that not only was this going to be a beast of a card but that it was going to overclock like mad. Sure, it has horsepower, but it isnt the biggest or baddest out there, and it apparently SUCKS at overclocking. In short, not only was it not what AMD hyped it up to be, but it cant even top NV's competition for the same price.

Ahem Digital storm would like to have a word with you.
Single card benches all are neck and neck: www.digitalstorm.com/unlocked/amd-fury-x-performance-benchmarks-idnum360/
in crossfire fury x starts pulling ahead a bit.
www.digitalstorm.com/unlocked/amd-fury-x-crossfire-gaming-benchmarks-vs-sli-titan-x-idnum361/
Kyle was bottlenecking the mighty fury x with the 3770k system.

Those digital storm benches are useless, don't even mention settings or anything.

Amd is not dead. If they drop gury x to 600 and fury to 500 then they are pretty safe for now. They have a competitive card nothing worse and nothing more. I have nvidia right now and I hate people making dumb comments like amd is dead bla bla. They have a competitive card. I am sure they will squeeze little more performance out of it overtime but no one should make their purchase based on that. I think 600 and 500 will be better prices for the two and majority of the buyers actually don't spend that much money on cards. AMD is better off dropping the 390x and 390 to 375 and 300 respectively. Those will sell a lot more than fury cards and that's where the profit is. And I bet amd has a huge profit margin on those cards vs the fury x

Whether AMD is dead or not only time will tell. However, they need to turn a profit with these cards or they will be in a dire position in the CPU and GPU market. The fact that they have less than 1/5 the value of NVidia alone is very troubling.

They have not given me one reason to upgrade from my R9 290 Reference Edition. However, neither has NVidia. That said, I am only one person and they need to make money, period!

I cannot find Digital storm's specs, at all, whatsoever, so I have no idea what kind of benchmarks they represent.

Assuming that 3770k was indeed the bottleneck, test with 4770K by TPU reached the same conclusion.

If 4770k was indeed bottlenecking the Fury X, OC3D was using 4960X and that still didn't help Fury X lagging behind 980ti

I give up on all of this mess.
I'm riding my 280X to 16nm. Unless there's a delay and we get another arch in-between.

We were supposed to be on 20nm right now. I did say, a year ago, my next GPU would be 20nm or lower ONLY.

I have the same and completely agree with your statement.

blue1512: It seems that the HBMs on FuryX are only locked by driver. It DID be overclocked to 600 MHz.

so their firestrike score increased by 20% with a mem + gpu oc?

not too shabby. I wonder what it will translate to in game.

I've rarely seen much gains from overclocking mem in actual games so it's hard to see why there would be much benefit - especially since HBM has so much more bandwidth to begin with. Synthetic benchmarks are a different story.

well, one person on that thread brought up the point that FuryX's shader / Bandwidth number isn't far from Hawaii/290x.

Even though it has nearly 50% more bandwidht, it has around 40% more shaders as well. Not sure how that translates, or if it does, just a note.

Some more benches for ya.

What happened to the minimum frame rate in Alien Isolation?

It's just a benchmark anomaly so nothing to worry about at all. If you look at other results in the bench thread you'll see it's fairly common. You'll never see minimum fps that low whilst playing the actual game.

More to come.

What voltage for 5960x at 4.9? Looks like awesome scaling up to 3 cards. 4 adds a bit too.

Looks like solid scaling up to 3, and then that 4th isn't pulling its weight.

Does make the Fury X2--or whatever it'll be called--sound more interesting.

they weren't there initially.

I obviously wrote that while you were still editing.

No they were there even before the edit because it was a cut and past with the commands sticking out at the beginning and end of each picture from the other forum which was no problem on the other 2 forums i posted them on, its only this forum that they were not directly compatible and i had to reformat them.

like i said, there were not hidden when i read through them initially.

The point was I trying to use tags already if you had looked for more than one second you would of noticed that, so you were telling me to do something that i was already attempting to do, i even pointed that out to you with saying what do you think the [/spoilers] are but if you had looked you could of told me how its done on this forum but instead i had to work it out for myself.

Almost everything has been said about this card and guess what, I still bought it

Reason for doing that is PLP-Eyefinity monitor support, which you can't get from the other side even if you sucked JHH's balls dry.

Gonna slap EK block on it and hope that they actually unlock the core voltage at some point.

PLP? Dinosaurs are roaming your desktop.

I think it's time for you to upgrade to higher resolution monitors.

I've probably missed it somewhere, but when is Fiji Pro coming? The supposedly slightly cut down air cooled version? I'm really interested in that to replace my GTX 970 and move to a 1440p Freesync screen.

Mid July, either the 14th or 18th.

I did the same, sold 780 Ti's to go to freesync. It's really good!

ugh, again, we dont know if its fiji pro.

Only thats its Fury (non-X)
