Decent price over at GMG for this game.

Use Code : GET23P-ERCENT-OFFGMG

$15.40

Best part about this game is there is unlike regular Civ. there is practically no game slowdown no matter how big and heavily populated the game map becomes late game when using Mantle. Also first ever game to use SFR Crossfire. (though the game is so well optimized to begin with, one card should be enough)

I noticed this too, but quite honestly, even the devs admitted that this game used many assets from Civ5, and it definitely felt more like a Civ5 standalone DLC, rather than a completely new game. I guess that's my fault for hoping for an Alpha Centauri revive.

My point to the mini-review? If you can hold off, the new Rising-Tide DLC, due this fall, should completely replace the Civ5-based diplomacy system, and (hopefully) give the game the unique feel many fans were expecting with the base game. Just in time for a winter sale that may heavily discount the base game, with a slight discount for the xpac.

Just my $0.02.

This game sucks. I have longer posts written elsewhere but the long and the short of it is that I think this game sucks. It's the last time I will ever do a preorder. Almost every other time I've been tempted to preorder, I have then checked out reviews afterwards and realized that my decision to abstain was well-founded.

Pre-Orders are the idiot's opiate, never do it. You lose your power as a consumer the second you do, ECON 101.

Was on the fence with the GMG deal, but ended up not getting it. My decision was easy based on the user reviews, but I'll probably pick it up eventually when it hits $10 and closer to the expansion/next patch.
