Batman: Arkham Knight

I never played any of the Batman games, but I got this one free after purchasing a 980 last week. So I went ahead and bought all the other Batman games so I can start from the beginning. Guess I can take my time playing through the other ones until they solve this, eh?

Arkham Asylum and Arkham City were great, Arkham Origins was good, not as good as the first two imo, but was pretty good overrall nonetheless. Definitely play all three!

Any news on possible upcoming patches/fixes?

On the weekend? No.

Last we all saw/heard is sales have been suspended and shitstorm has escalated imperative. There will be something forthcoming but no one knows how long it will take.

GMG, Steam... possibly other outlets I'm not aware of... taking refunds now without any conditions.

They released the game, then cancelled it because it sucked and then re-released it as an awesome game... 5 years later.

Some of the guys over at the Steam forums are boasting about smooth gameplay, and high frame rates, but when you ask them to post a video on YouTube they refuse to do it. So for me, I really am going to have to walk away for the time being. Hard to do though.

Count me as one who gets very good FPS and zero stuttering. I would love to capture a video for you. But I only have software for that so the games FPS will drop when I start recording. Then you just wouldn't believe it :(

This is all I have in my config

[SystemSettings]
MaxAnisotropy=16
MaxFPS=72.000000

Launch Options
-nologo -disablepagefilecheck

Any word on the 67mb patch I just downloaded?

edit:

Rocksteady is leading our team of developers and partners as we work on the PC performance issues that players have been encountering. The work is significant and while we are making good progress on improving performance, it will take some time to ensure that we get the right fixes in place.

Below is the list of the key areas where we are dedicating our resources to improve the experience for our loyal fans:
  • Support for frame rates above 30FPS in the graphics settings menu
  • Fix for low resolution texture bug
  • Improve overall performance and framerate hitches
  • Add more options to the graphics settings menu
  • Improvements to hard drive streaming and hitches
  • Address full screen rendering bug on gaming laptops
  • Improvements to system memory and VRAM usage
  • NVIDIA SLI bug fixes
  • Enabling AMD Crossfire
  • NVIDIA and AMD updated drivers

While we work on improving performance, we will also continue to make interim patches available to address issues for those still playing the game on PC. The first patch is being released now and the updates include:
  • Fixed a crash that was happening for some users when exiting the game
  • Fixed a bug which disabled rain effects and ambient occlusion. We are actively looking into fixing other bugs to improve this further
  • Corrected an issue that was causing Steam to re-download the game when verifying the integrity of the game cache through the Steam client
  • Fixed a bug that caused the game to crash when turning off Motion Blur in BmSystemSettings.ini. A future patch will enable this in the graphics settings menu
We would like to thank our fans for their patience and invaluable feedback. We will continue to monitor and listen for any additional issues.

Nice little patch to start off with. At least now it won't look worse than the PS4 version of the game. I'll have to try disabling motion blur and see if it still crashes.

oh snap.. turning off blur asap.

edit: Yes it works.. Thank god.. I hated that stuff.

good to see them working on these issues...those are pretty much all the major ones...and the patch that enabled AO and rain effects is a nice start

Well just beat the main story. I quite like how that went. Still need to finish the side quests to get the real ending. They actually give a bit of a story reason for why you need to do all of them before the game is over too, I like that.

For anyone wondering: It took me 20 hours to do it. I didn't just beeline through the story I did a lot of the side quests along the way. Now let's see how long it takes to finish them up. A few will be annoying since the game doesn't tell you where to go for the next step all the time but that's why I've got a guide.

why do people love buying these official Prima game guides for?...you can find extensive walkthroughs online or on YouTube that tell you the same thing no?

And those online walkthroughs are well done hardcover books?

to each his own but this is not Lord of the Rings or Song of Ice and Fire...is a hardcover game guide really that special?...you'll only use it once and then put it away forever...but to each his own

To me they're collectibles. I have a shelf full of Skylanders, Amiibo, and Disney Infinity stuff as well. I'll rarely, if ever, use them but I like owning them and collecting them. Same with hardcover guides. There is some real effort put into some of them and they look nice. I own most of the hardcover Zelda guides as well.

Turning off Depth of Field gets rid of the film grain effect. However, it take away my map and prevents bad guys from being highlighted in Detective Mode.

Turning off Depth of Field makes the game look twice as good.

WTF, Derangel, you finished already! Fuck me. I barely even started before I decided to quit and wait for the patch... or rather, patches.

Nice post.

Not entirely sure what the underlying motive here was, but thanks I guess.

Do I wish the game had a better launch? Sure. Do I wish both my cards ran like they should with this game? Hey, yeah, of course. I don't have time on a daily basis to deal with a lot of shit when it comes to my gaming hobby, so if the game works fine on my end, I plan on playing it, if not, in the trash pile it goes.

Love Witcher 3 too by the way.

How many gameplay hours did it take you to do this?

around 40 hours ,,, i did cheat though by looking up most of the locations after i completed the story... story run took me only 19 hours on normal but i was trying to complete as much of the other missions as i could... the secret ending is just a continuation of the regular ending... you get to see a little bit more... but not much... if anyone else plans on doing it.... i dont recommend it and just save yourself some time and just youtube the complete ending after you finish the main story line :p

I am a little sad that I rushed through the game... oh well....

The site needs spoiler tags so I can talk about stuff in detail. Apologizes if something even this vague is a spoiler to folks but just don't read further if you haven't beaten the game:

I don't need to see the second ending to know what it is. As with Arkham Knight years of reading Batman comics make it blindingly obvious. With that said, it seems more as if the second ending is just a teaser and set up for future games if Rocksteady or another studio wants to take on that task.

The site has spoiler tags... but no one seems to know how to use them. ;)

spoiler text here

Then again it would help if it were in the quick menu too.

[ spoiler=comment]spoiler text here[/spoiler]

Just take out that space I added after the first bracket.

That explains why I couldn't figure it out. Pretty much ever other forum it's just spoiler not spoiler=comment. Thanks though, that's really helpful to know.

Yup its a little different here which throws a lot of folks.

Happy to help though. Now you can post spoilers all you want! :D

yup

one of the things that annoyed me is... rocksteady said that they were creating a completely brand new character/villan for batman to face.... when i first encountered him... the things he was saying and the amount of knowledge he knew.... it was pretty obvious it had to be jason... and then the scene with joker's torture at the midpoint in the game pretty much nipped it in the bud... basically im pissed even though i should know better about jason being the arkham knight.... rocksteady misled a lot of people including myself to believe that a brand new villan would be joining the plethora of villans for batman but instead they partially created a new look for the red hood.... meh whatever its jason todd

So last night I had something happen to me that I haven't had in years: It was 11pm and I was playing Arkham Knight. I thought, OK, I'll play for a little bit more (midnight, maybe) then get to bed. Then I checked the clock and it was 3am. I couldn't believe that much time had passed.

Always a sign of a good game!

I looked up my Arkham City play-time on Steam and it's 96 hours...so if it took most people 20-40 hours for Arkham Knight it'll probably take me double that :D...I love exploring and doing most if not all of the side missions in games

more people need to use spoiler tags in the gaming forum in general...the slightly different spoiler code on [H] probably gets people thinking that there is no spoiler code...they really should add it to the quick menu

ive been playing this game for 3 hours and had only some very minor hiccups.

so far so good to be honest , i dont know what all the fuss is about , maybe my rig is out of normal.

It all depends on what resolution you're running and if you're enabling all the Nvidia Gamework options. I doubt you'll be able to run the game at anything above 1080p with all the options enabled and keep a solid 60fps.

Yeah, that hasn't happened to me in a while. I love it when that happens. I'm actually going through a weird spell right now in which no game seems to hold my attention for more than a half an hour or forty-five minutes.

I have about a dozen triple-A titles I'm jumping back and forth between. It's an embarrassment of riches, yet not one of these titles (all of which I dreamt about pre-release) can completely hold my attention.

GTA V, for example, is just a stunning port. Just a very rich game. Yet I can't seem to get into it.

Every new game I buy, I think, this is going to be the one, yet no matter how good the game is I just can't get locked into it. I don't know what the hell's going on with me right now. I need something to hit me on the head.
