The crew at Overclockers Club have a review of the PowerColor PCS+ R9 390 8GB posted today that is certainly worth checking out.

As a performance piece, the PowerColor PCS+ R9 390 offers a lot under the hood for its $329 price tag. To start, we get a core that is factory clocked to 1010MHz and 8GB of GDDR5 memory that is again pumped up to 1500MHz right out of the box. This gives it the tools to compete with the R9 290X and make a run at the GTX 970.

I really hope they've sorted out the issue with the 290 fan rattle. I had two of them which both had the same problem, and I certainly don't think I was the only one with the issue.

It's a shame, because it seemed a good card apart from that.

Waiting on the 9xx series to tumble in price and pick one up under $300.

Is it just me, or does the extra 4gb on the 390x seem to be overkill or under utilized?
The 290x 4gb is only a few fps behind in most cases.

The 780ti has 3gb, with 384bit path and it beats the 390x when overclocked?
Drivers?... Would be interesting to see some mantle/vulcan/DX12 test if we had the games that is.

plus, i cannot find a 390x under $429.99. not sure where they are getting $329?

8 gig can be nice for 3D modelling and rendering of complex scene on a budget.
