The Military is Building A Hoverbike

I don't care what it takes but I can't wait for there to be flying vehicles for us regular people. Just don't know how we're going to protect the roofs of our houses from the assholes that ruin it for everyone.

Still greater benefit than possible negatives.

I can imagine this useful for soldiers as a way to bring supplies that you might not be able to with a helo or evac wounded soldiers. I can see this as a positive benefit, however just like anything with the military, they will probably put weapons on this thing.

I think I saw a video that said it will be able to climb to 9,000 feet. Hate to see the wind catch you wrong and...

Really don't think it would make a good gun platform, but if they do, even cooler

almost there...

I will just leave this brilliant comment from a youtuber here.

Have you tried integrating Dyson fan principles in to your bikes? Will that give any improvement?

Complete with 5 minute flying time for a fully loaded adult model, right?

The battery time is what prevents all the model quadcopters from becoming hovercars/bikes. You'd need a Tesla battery to get any time/range out of the thing. But add that and an adult rider and some gear and suddenly the thing is too heavy to go anywhere.

When the next gen battery tech comes around, we might finally get some hover cars. Of course that might take another 20 years.

We definitely do NOT need this type of stuff for civilians. People can't drive cars well as it is. Too much could go wrong if everyone is now a pilot lol.

I'm thinking the dual motor one will be gas. Electric motors and battery tech aren't where they need to be for this to be practical.

That, or it'll use a gas to electricity hybrid like some military long-endurance drones.

I wonder how these would perform on the forest moon of Endor?

The Ewoks will set up some traps out of twigs and bring you down.

Ewoks are proof Lucas turned the franchise to a joke before he even finished the first trilogy.

At 25 second mark, it show what to me looks like a BMW R1200 Flat Twin Motor and a fuel tank (unknown capacity).

So I am guessing maybe more like 1-2hrs flight time might be more the fully loaded adult model times.

I am going to need to see someone on top of it before I get impressed. Just saying. At this point they have succeeded in building a multicopter. Grats....Put someone on it or at least an equivalent payload and shape to show off its ability more.

if people cant drive 2d, how are going to even drive 3d?
Just require them to get a pilots license, same as nowadays. If we can trust them with an 1800lbs Cesna, I don't see why you couldn't trust them with a 1000lbs hoverbike.
