After years of making console games, and then quitting the business altogether, it looks like CliffyB is back on the PC bandwagon. :)

"I wanted to get back to first person—Gears is third person—it's one of those things, that seeing down the barrel of a gun, it's a very powerful thing," said Bleszinski. And while he has, in the past, said that consoles are where the action is, he insisted that he's always had love for the PC. "I love my console shooters," he said, "but keyboard and mouse for first-person shooters, it's the only way to go."

Sorry but to me this translates as:

I abandoned PC gamers long ago and never looked back, but I am working on a new game for PC so I need suck up to PC gamers, and hope they support me and my new game.

Lol, it would read better if he spoke of himself in the third person.

"CliffyB enjoyed developing for consoles, but now CliffyB sees that once again PC's are where the action is!"

I liked his enthusiasm and support for up and coming "mappers" for Unreal Tournament, so I balance that against his self promotion. Lol, wherever he is, that's where it's at, in his view. So, grain of salt to his pronouncements.

I think you've nailed it!

Oh, and this:
On July 29, 2013, Bleszinski published a post on his blog, pleading for Phil Fish to continue as a video game developer. He ended his post with the remark, "Come back, Phil. We miss you already. Maybe I’ll be right behind you, returning with Adamantium skin."
Facepalm!

I want to like Cliff, but his opinions make a 180 every year or two.

Nothing to see here. He's just trying to claw his way back to relevance.

Not necessarily.

Could be more like:

I've always loved PC gaming. It's where I cut my teeth, and to me provides the best experience.

For many years the studios I worked for were unwilling to spend the kind of money the projects I wanted to work on would take, on PC titles, as they didn't think the market was large enough. In order to get the creative freedom (and paycheck) I wanted I sucked it up and developed for consoles.

yes, I sold out. No I don't regret it, but now that I am independent, and independently wealthy I can do my own thing, and damn it, I'm going back to PC's.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not defending CliffyB. He's kind of a douchenozzle. it's just that having known a few developers over the years, most of them I have run into fall into the category above.

I don't care what that little midget said now or in the past. Get in there and make us a fucking PC game, and if it's great it doesn't matter.

I think he just follows the money, and he sees the PC market resurgence and the stagnation in the console market.

If he makes interesting games again I'll try them, but I hold no loyalty to him for his Unreal work 15+ years ago.

I just want to see what how his next project turns out. I will not fault him for the decisions he made in the past. For one, I am not as talented as his is in the field he specializes in so I won't be that type to criticized on something I know nothing about. On top of that, many people like him jumped on the console bandwagon for the money. Just make sense where PC is every man for themselves combined with a high level of piracy. Less money was made on it.

I understand that, and if that were the case and he came clean and stated what you posted I could understand it, and respect him for admitting it and would be willing to give him the benifit of the doubt going forward, but instead he spewed what appears to be disingenuous crap so I can't.

Well firstly, I don't think there is a resurgence, I think it's simply a case of sales from digital sources finally starting to be counted.

Second I don't have a problem with him following the money, but don't come back years later and blow smoke up my ass telling me what a big PC supporter you are.

And for those wondering, yes I am in a very bad mood today. lol!

One week until our ISO recertification audit and now after 3 yearts of ignoring everything I've said (I'm the ISO auditor for our site) everyone expects me to step up and fix everything, and do everything they didn't, in the next 7 days.

Lol, been there, done that. Which ISO standard?

Only ISO 9001:2008, but at this same time I'm also training to become our SQF Practitioner so I can get us SQF certified by this time next year..... if I don't kill myself before then.

Ahh, I recently went through a recertification to ISO 13485, and had an FDA inspection, which was no fun.

Life in QA... :p

So Steve, are you guys going back out now or what?

Sounds like he a successfully rejuvenating brush with depression and suicidal attempts.

Well that's the kicker, I am not now, nor have I ever been, in Quality.

I was hired here as an operator when they first opened, my employee number is 00001, and I progressed into a production supervisor roll and then only to my current position, which it titles "Project Analyst" but basically I am the project person here and I handle all on site IT (or company has hundred of techs, but all at corporate and regional HQs.

Just title is simply but my job description, which they just had me rewrite last year, is over 3 pages. lol!

Ah, I empathize.

This shit is never fun, but I sort of knew what I was getting myself into. (been a Quality Engineer since I graduated college)

Wasn't this the same guy who wanted people to just 'deal with it' when it came to XBone 1.0's DRM, and the same guy who popped a vein when Gears-o-War 3 scored an 8.0 on review sites... And the same guy who has accused PC gamers as pirates on multiple occasions?

Yeah, seems like a great guy.

What's going on with his cheeks, he looks like he's been stung in the face by a bee.

Fuck this traitor asshole. He bailed on the PC a long time ago because he thought all of the money was in making shitty console games. Now Steam is a runaway success and the PC is a platform that prints money and he wants to act like he never turned his back on us. Gears of War sucks anyway.

No matter the disagreements or even name calling, I wish you luck on this one Dark.

But remember this;

Once you start performing miracles, then miracles become a best practice :D

Doesn't really matter what he said in the past about PCs. The only thing that matters is if he can make a good game for the PC or not.

Thanks!

Yeah, it also gets worked into your job description.

Honestly I would absolutely love my job, as opposed to me having to run around all day putting out fires caused by other people's stupidity (and I'm not talking minor brain farts, but major continual WTF moments.)

Icpiper, don't take me too serious in politically threads, most of my posts and when I'm taking a sanity break at work so I'm already wound up when I load the forum, hope I haven't been to hard on you, it's nothing personal, I don't mean to be but sometimes I'm an asshole. :D

Even the article bit Steve quoted make it perfectly clear he is bullshitting people again.

He's like Randy Pitchfork and Chevat Yerli in a lot of ways.
