South Park: The Fractured but Whole

Definitely the best South Park games that have been made. The ones made in the 2000's were cringe worthy.

This one's not being developed by Obsidian. I wonder how that will effect it.

The fact that they don't have Obsidian working on this and have some internal Ubisoft studio has me hesistant.

I mean after all of the failed South Park games, they FINALLY find a studio that does a great one and then at the first chance they dump them for a new studio, sigh.

Not to mention at how they took a jab at the game with it's "Terrible" combat in the trailer, I mean wtf? Hwo else are you going to make the combat as wacky/out there? Because the other south park games with real time combat worked SOOOO well.

The Fractured Butt Hole....

I actually enjoyed The Stick of Truth quite a bit, but this one worries me.

Who says Ubisoft dumped them? Obsidian has two others games in the works. Maybe they just weren't interested in doing another South Park.

Ubisoft has a habit of doing everything with their own studios. When the bought the rights to South PArk: The Stick of Truth Obsidian was the developer with THQ, so they really had no choice but to finish it with them (unless they wanted to scrap it all and waste a ton of money).

I doubt Obsidian would turn down the chance to make another one, they aren't exactly crawling in dough and aside from Pillars and the tank game they are making they don't really have a huge lineup of games to work on.

Clearly Matt and Trey are still very much involved. They're really the key component. Plus, after all of the BS with the last one, I don't think they'd release a total turd of a game. It might not be as good, but I bet it's still a decent game. At least Towelie is in this one.

Stick of Truth was one of the best games of 2014. For me, it was the most polished and bug free release I have seen in years. I hope The Fractured but Whole provides the same experience.

I was impressed with the stick of truth.. this shouldn't be too far off, hopefully.. will buy

I suspect this is the kind of game that would have been an expansion pack 20 years ago.

"That was barely even an RPG, Kyle. The combat sucked!"

Oh man, so much want. Even if they can just improve on the combat over Stick of Truth and otherwise keep the game mostly the same, I'll be very happy.

Prepare yourselves for some kind of "always on" DRM that makes the game better by letting you know that your internet connection is functional while you play!

This is what gave me hope. The combat was boring as heck. There was very little variation you just use the same skills that work best in the same order pretty much every fight. Combat felt the same as costume quest. Just really simple turn based combat. After a few hours of playing the game I rather would have just watched a movie made out of the cut scenes.

Look at classics like final fantasy. Turn based standing in a line waking each other can work great, but you need a lot more variation to make it entertaining.

I'm fine with them altering combat as long as they keep it turn based. I really appreciated that about SoT.

I have not finished SoT yet but enjoy what I have played, this looks fun as well even though not much was shown.

Yes it needed omre variation but really for combat in a south park game it was imo the best because it gave you abilities/powers that was both fitting of the show but also something you can't really do in real-time combat.

I mean can you imagine how real time would be?

Most likely ubi will try that, go with some kind of AC/Batman combat (since it's super hero themed now instead of the rpg trope like Stick of Truth).

And both AC/Batman is tihe definition of "boring and repetitive" combat, so mind numblingly boring, counter counter counter, oh look there's a "big" enemy, can't block his attacks like every other big enemy we saw before. Zero depth to them.

I just finished the Stick Of Truth, it was god damn hilarious.....Obsidian did a top notch job in recreating the aesthetic and atmosphere of an actual South Park episode. I didn't realize that Obsidian weren't doing the sequel, so of course I now have real reservations about Ubi not some how fucking it up (as they seem to do on a regular basis these days).

I don't even enjoy South Park, but I picked up SOT during a sale. I was extremely impressed, and other than missing a few references to the show, I loved it.

I'd fully expect Ubisoft to introduce freerunning/parkour, 3rd person, and open-world mechanics if left to their own decisions. Hopefully SouthPark Studios maintains creative control.

I never played the first one as I just didn't play my 360 after the one came out and my windows notebook had intel graphics that wouldn't run it right.

Looking froward to this one. Now if they would only release the FPS game from the late 90's with this. The multiplayer was great.

Wow. I totally forgot about this game, too. I thought the last game was a blast. It had next to no replay value, but I enjoyed that first playthough as much as any other game from the last few years.

Well the good news is that the creators are again taking a direct, controlling, hand in the game and they are pretty fanatical about quality. So it is likely that this one will also be good. The reason early South Park games sucked was they handed off the license to a studio and said "go nuts" and the studio fucked it up. Because of that they said they wouldn't do it again, so when they did the Stick of Truth they were involved in the entire production.

Of course UBI could still fuck it up since, well, UBI but I think there is a goo chance it'll be a good game.

Pre-Load is up on Steam. I did the pre-buy because I'm a sucker for Towelie.
From what I've seen of the game, it seems like more of the same. Trey and Matt are involved in so much of this game I don't think they'd let it suck. It might not be great (or even as good as SoT) but I'll be shocked if it's genuinely bad.

The moment everyone has been waiting for, the system requirements:
http://blog.ubi.com/south-park-fractured-whole-pc-specs-system-requirements-revealed/

Looks like it'll run 60FPS since there are requirements for 1080p @ 60FPS.

I was surprised that I enjoyed the last game, so this will definitely sit on my wishlist until I finish all the junk I bought during the summer sale.
Not really what we waiting for. You could tell this game wasn't going to be demanding just like the first one was. Still looks great.

Early reviews say the game is okay, but not great. Combat is better than SoT and the gags are just as good. However there are apparently lots of tedious fetch quests and the game's pacing is slow.

I love South Park, hate Ubisoft. So, I'm waiting for a price drop. I cannot support a full price release with Uplay and money grab DLC attached to it.

Had this pre-loaded over the weekend. I just started up UPlay and see that I'm actually able to play the game right now. Thought the release was 10/17 exact? (I'm in PDT).

EDIT: Haven't gone off too far yet, but I do like the way they segued from Stick of Truth. Really hoping a lot of those buildings in the background will be accessible!

I really enjoyed the stick of truth and I'm positive this game will be just as good if not better. I can't wait to hear all the uncensored comments and see all the hilarious fight moves

Fired it up after pre-loading. I got a blank screen and audio for the first couple tries, but UPlay downloaded a patch and it seems to be fine now. I only played for a couple minutes, but 4K/60 seems to be no sweat.
