Would really like the $180 K70 but that is just simply too much money for me to spend on a KB.

Was wondering if you all knew of any good deals or if places like Amazon ever slash the prices on any good mechanical KB?

Get a filco majestouch for like $120-$150. Whatever keyboard you do get - look for the cheapest priced one with cherry switches... kind of the standard in mech switches. I've had my mech for 7 years now too.. so think of it more as a 10+ year keyboard as opposed to a 2 year dome covered piece of shit throwaway garbage plastic rectangular monkey slapping stick.

HAHAHA :eek::D

Well there is a K70 for $120, its non RGB. Just a base model with Blue or Red LED and cherry red or blue swithces.

Other than the RGB I could not tell you any other differences because I am a noob but is that worth the money and are there any other differences between that and the $180 one besides RGB?

$120 model

massdrop has their own section for mechanical keyboards

and there are tons of options these days if you open your mindset to something that isn't a Cherry switch

Not even going to bother opening that can of worms (so don't bother replying angry nerds), just saying - if you do, there are a lot of well prices options

Newegg usually has some pretty good prices (under $100) on mechanical keyboards from Rosewill, Razer, CoolerMaster.

www.massdrop.com - is a great place to find deals on mechanical keyboards and their accoutrements, as well as many other items. They are a group-buy site where users vote on the items they wish to purchase and the site coordinates the "drop", so not every item is on sale all the time.

For instance, they just recently had a drop for the Corsair K70/K95 RGB , so it is not currently available, but you can vote to have it brought back - over 200 people have already done so, so it will probably be back soon! https://www.massdrop.com/buy/corsair-rgb-gaming-keyboard-and-mouse-mat/talk

With regard to the Corsair "Non-RGB" models, I'd advise against purchasing them. The non-RGB versions had a different sort of connection to the PCB, leading to a defect that led to a lot of the backlights going out. Searching will reveal more details on the issue, but I would not buy one of the non-RGB K65, K70, or K95 versions.

When it comes to mechanical keyboards, there is a wide range of offerings as others have said. Deciding what features and prices you find most important are the first step and then you can work from there.

Massdrop gets you some decent deals, especially on boards not readily available in the states.

NCIX has deals pretty frequently, usually on their Ducky boards and sometimes clearance of old models when the new ones roll out.

I haven't seen any deals on the Corsair boards besides the minor savings from Massdrop, but they usually charge shipping on top of everything so the wait isn't worth the small savings IMO. I use Massdrop for all my keycaps though.

Overall Corsair has been real shady on their RGB boards, I wouldn't recommend supporting them. First one million colors = 512 colors in their mind, and then when they updated the palette it turned the color shift into a slideshow instead of smooth color shifting.

massdrop is likely the op's best bet they get some pretty good stuff on there (and some garbage..imho) but whatever...

the thing is you are going to not want to be in a rush if you end up buying on massdrop because it is more like a group buy than ordering from amazon... going to want to figure on a month plus for delivery probably...

if i was the op I'd give the KUL ES-87 a look (not sure what is in stock currently ) but frequently avail w/ prime @130~ish

I have a Filco MT2 TKL I'm using now (and a WASD V1 and a Rosewill RK-9000RE) I love the Filco it is well built and worth the money I think.

but there is also the quickfire rapid for about $90 (w/ reds at least) on amazon.. not the same quality as a filco but much less monies

If you're alright buying something that is a returned product, I've had luck following a keyboard on Amazon and checking the "used" listing frequently waiting for an Amazon Warehouse listing to turn up. I was able to pick up a Filco Minila Air that way for $134 shipped Prime rather than doing the whole importing form Japan hassle.

I recommend just making a wishlist for the keyboards you want to follow on there, then pulling it up every day or so to see if there are more used entries. If there are, click through and hope it's a Warehouse listing. I've bought many tech items this way and have never been disappointed. They are show up looking as described or better.

You can check reddit.com/r/mechmarket if you're not dead set on buying new. Pokers and Corsair QFRs appear regularly, but lots of other stuff shows up too. Make a post with what you're looking for and you're bound to get at least a few offers.

Logitech or Razer via Staples.

Price match staples to amazon and then use their $10 off or $25 off coupons.

Makes the 710+ either $75 or $60.

I just committed to the Keycool Hero 104 RGB on Massdrop. That thing looks awesome. A little wary about the Kailh switches, but most people don't seem to have a problem with them. Ya'll should commit so this happens :p

I recently joined a drop on a mech., but for the Varmilo VA87MR myself.

Anxiously awaiting for it to finish tomorrow (then waiting for production and shipping...); picked up the grey case option with Gateron Blacks and white backlighting, so coming out the the factory that also makes Leopolds I would hope they use decent LEDs (like Ducky).

I'm excited to get it at 21% off, but wish I had the money to order the aluminum case that just went up as well...

I saw that one, too, but after using a Steelseries Zboard keyset that didn't have a numpad for forever, I know that not having a numpad would drive me nuts.
