Plush Penguin Mirror Mimics Your Moves

The more technology in our lives the more free time people dont know how to fill and madness sets in.

Me wanting my two minutes back seems petty compared to that guy who set that up wasting so much time on so little.

i've seen similar theramin art projects.. its his time to do what he wants with it, but that is not for them to decide. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given us.

Yea, looks like a Kinect for sure. That's a shame as it's very distracting. If it were me I would've placed within the group a bigger penguin equipped with a hidden camera. Better yet replace all penguins with cabbage patch kids with blood shot eyes. That'd at least be a funny Halloween gag.

Looks like a giant waste of time, unless he makes money from this.

Not sure how to respond to this.

Pointless? Maybe in some ways. However, does everything have to make one money in order for it to be worthwhile? How about just because he felt like it, and it brought him a little joy?

Just purely based on the fact that he did this in the first place, and your response to it, I would wager that he's a lot happier human being than you are.

agreed, Why people have to be so negative, I won't ever know. If sitting in a bed of fireants naked makes him happy, then I'm fucking ecstatic for him. I think it's a pretty cool accomplishment, one that most people can't do, and I'm sure he felt good having achieved his goal, and that he didn't do it for you/them/whoever.

what some people call art these days... now it would be cool if he did this with 500 little Chuckey dolls... now that would be art!

They basically pivot looking for light or white (or dark or black) which is why he chose penguins, all things being equal they will eventually all face the same way. the shape he gets standing in front of them is probably from eclipsing a light source or (white/black) patch off camera. I guess you can have a sensor in back looking for white or a sensor in front looking for dark. Seemingly complex behavior from a simple circuit.

I just saw his PomPom mirror somewhere the other day, which is the same principle and perhaps a little more effective for being more abstract, but I still like this. Personally I would have also made their wings flap randomly, but that's just me.

But it's funny when people call it a waste of time, as if moaning about things on an internet forum is a much more valuable contribution to society.

:D

Or makes money in some way as was another "concern" brought up.

Also, each penguin should have an RGB LED on its head (or maybe replace the eyes with them) with independent control over each color channel per penguin. Penguin plasma effects!
