Corsair®, PC gaming hardware leader, today at Computex unveiled Bulldog, the first DIY PC built exclusively to bring the vivid immersion of 4K gaming to the living room. Composed of a DIY kit with a stylish gaming console-sized chassis, liquid CPU cooler, power supply, and motherboard, and designed with plenty of space for customization and upgrades, Bulldog provides the foundation for users to build the ultimate living room PC. Using its proprietary liquid CPU and GPU cooling technology, Corsair condensed the desktop PC computing performance into Bulldog’s compact form factor. An early version of Bulldog is on display at Computex 2015, with availability expected in early Q4.

Over/under $300?

I think you forgot a "0". This will be for 4K gaming. Video card alone will cost more than $300 to push a 4K display for gaming. Then we're talking about Corsair here. Custom water cooling loop for CPU/GPU, small ITX form factor and who knows what mobo/CPU/RAM would be in it. I'm guessing somewhere in the $1500 range.

I took it to mean you were getting the chassis, PSU, 2xH55 coolers, and brackets. The rest of the stuff was on you.

It looks like Thermaltake case. I would like something less leet and more elegant below my TV.

A SFF case specifically designed for watercooling which tends to be pretty compact would be nice. I'm currently using a Azza mini-ITX case, with a 240mm radiator: http://azzatek.com/csaz-103.html

Nothing fancy, but very small (13.5"x4.4"x17.3"), only $35, and fit a long ATI 7850 three-fan graphics card.

case looks very random... i would prefer something more quiet for the living room.

Hard to tell from the site as well, but it does look as if components are on you.,
There are times the Lapdog sure would be convenient.

It looks like it has a little proprietary CPU cooler though right, so I assume they would need to provide the mobo since the position would be slightly different with each.

@ducman69 - The cables look flexible, and almost all CPUs are in the same spot on an ITX board, plus or minus an inch.

If you watch the video, it says it is a DIY case.

It includes a 600w power supply, a CPU cooler, and a GPU cooler.

Looks to me like you get the following.....

1) case
2) power supply
3) CPU cooler thingy. Given the fact that the cpu cooler goes on top, there's probably a bracket or something in the top of the case.
4) a bracket to hold the H55 cooler head/pump for a GPU (the H55 is sold separately, as is the MB,CPU,RAM and GPU.)

I'm not sold on this. It's just an upgraded DIY Steam Box.

Oh ok, that makes sense then. I guess the next question would be cost, and to see what video cards fit in it. Kind of rules out AMD at present with a 600watt PSU + 4K capabilities (unless settings are turned way down). A GTX 980Ti I guess would be the way to go.

On further review.....maybe the H55 comes with the case as well....was hard for me to figure if the give you the cooler for the GPU, but the more I watch, it looks like it.

This thing is going to cost some serious bucks.

These builders really really need to deal with dust management. Can you imagine what this case will look like on the inside in 6 months from now in the living room with carpet and pets. Have fun cleaning that out when it starts overheating.

It looks HUGE. I wouldn't want that beast in my living room. Maybe they should have called it the Great Dane.

I was right about the itx case at least.

This things purpose is only to get into the niche movement started by Dell's ultra low priced alienware pc.

I like it. Think they should have done one in all black , or black and sliver. Something that would blend in with a Living room better. But I really like the case and what there trying to do. You can fill it with a x99 setup and a 980ti and have a monster of a computer in the living room. I'll probably be picking up one of those Lapdog's for my theater room to game on the projector with..

The advertising is misleading though.

The Bulldog has absolutely NOTHING to do with 4K gaming.
It's what YOU the builder puts inside the case that will make/break the gaming, or the bank....your choice.;)

We have no idea if corsair is going to offer pre builds with this.

That case looks pretty awesome and would love it in my living room. goes with the lapdog... Idk why people are ripping it apart. Its just another SFF case with just cool custom shit imho. I would totally use this thing if priced reasonably (i doubt it will be) I would only use it on a 50-55" 1080p TV i will be buying soonish

Its being advertised toward 4k because of its absurd price point it will have

Well no, I disagree on the bases that after looking at the video they are aiming to keep noise down but allow you to crank performance. Most low or no noise cases and builds I've seen all seem to crank down on performance.

Still I'd prefer to roll my own because I'm crazy and never complete.

Yup, an disappointingly lame, not-mobile in any sense, desktop computer. They should have called it brontosaurus instead since it's using a form-factor that's about as old as any other late Jurassic fossil.

Saw an MSRP of $399 for the bulldog and that keyboard lap thing was $149 w/ keyboard. This was on the computex thread at OCN so nothing official for corsair unless I misread the message.

Unless the people at Corsair have lost their minds......they have not sold anything but components in the past.

They have never dealt in CPU or GPU sales (although I wish they did sell GPUs).

So I have a pretty good feel that they are not going to be offering a complete system, so to advertise 4K is simply misleading........the GPU is what makes the 4K......and the monitor.

Neither of which Corsair sells.

Heh........I do like the "lapdog" thing......I'd buy one of those.

Corsair makes some cool stuff but I have a Panasonic plasma that is not made for gaming, that is why I have a LED monitor.

Agreed when I was watching the video that's the first thing I noticed.

That being said it's an interesting product and I'd be interested in seeing if that CPU cooler could get worked into a NCASE efficiently.

Just bought a Cooler Master Elite 371 for a home theater system. This thing is oversized easily

Sorry, I mean this thing is overpriced easily

I paid only $40 for the Elite 371 and it fits behind all the stuff in the upstairs wall unit. I see zero need for this unless its under $100

If this had been available when I built my htpc I absolutely would have bought it. It's a little on the big side but smaller than what I ended up with.

It's not really meant to be moved around, its more like a stationary media/gaming PC that goes with your living room entertainment system.

That's the correct price for the Bulldog, $399. The lapdog standalone station will have an MSRP of $89 and if you go with the combo keyboard, its $199.

I see that a couple of you guys like the the Bulldog and some didn't for good reasons, and that's fair. We'd like to see more feedback from you guys as much as possible, so feel free to share your thoughts on Bulldog :)

Looks like the lapdog is getting some attention too and good feedback for the most part.. it's nice to see those comments.

Yeah, I sorta get that from the overall design and not including a battery of any sort, but I'm forced to question the validity of any sort of newly designed system that doesn't start with mobility as a priority given the "carry-it-around" nature of modern technology. It just strikes me as a huge throwback to a decades-old idea of location constrained computing which is why I was being sorta snarky about the dinosaur comment. :) We can fit full x86 computers into a 7 inch tablet so its sort of prohibitive of moving higher performance computing into smaller devices that use less power and generate less heat to step back to sell products from the 20th century.
