Hatred (postal clone) out monday

thank you Mortuus.... finally a game I understand :) will take me back to my good old military days... Just wish it wasnt top down... but I do see the reason for it.. out monday... and monday just happens to be pay day oh yea..

Are you really excited or is that sarcasm? I seriously can't tell.

I'm not too interested in the game, but I do wonder how well it'll sell.

Looking at the destruction effects, I might actually give this a play. People saying this game isn't "that violent" though are out of their minds. Still, I think if they wanted to go full edgelord they should've went first-person (like Postal 2). Also, can't wait for the next psycho to take up this game as his goal in life. ;)

I think it's retarded, but.... somehow... necessary... in a Milton Friedman kind of way. We need these types of games, so the market knows whether or not it needs these types of games. My guess is they will burn like matches. Popularity surge from the controversy, and then a quick drop off.

Wow...this actually looks pretty badass. In a fucked up way of course. I'm getting it.

My guess is that if they did become mainstream they wouldn't stay popular for long. The "serial killer" and "killing innocents" theme would get played out pretty fast.

I don't quite understand the objective of the game myself, but I have no doubt that this will appeal to the "edgy", teenage-angst crowd. I know I would have been interested in this game when I was younger.

The main character looks like he belongs in Slipknot, take away his knife and give him a mic. LOL!

these run and gun 'zombie type' shooters have zero appeal to me. Back when I was on a zombie kick I was browsing though steam looking for a fix. But everything I seen was all just mindless waste of time shit. Seeing shit like Nation Red and the handful of other similarities led me to Trapped Dead, and I was fulfilled.

Slipknot? Nah, that band is the epitome of angry angsty teenage metal whining about his shitty life. The main character is almost mirror image of Pat O'Brien, guitarist from Cannibal Corpse. It kinda fits too, the over-the-top tongue in the cheek violent horror movie lyrics and the looks fit the game perfectly.

Well, James Holmes's notebook was released: PDF link on page.

I wonder if Hatred will have "easter eggs" referencing famous spree killers/mass murderers. Right now Anders Breivik still tops the leaderboard. Certainly he deserves a mention. After all, it's just a game, right?

Such a pointless waste of talent and gore. I'm all about some ultra violence but without context this is just soggy cereal. One of my favorites film series is Rampage, but the main character in that least has some sort of purpose and scheme. This is just an alien breed clone. Go play Postal 2 if you want to murder people. Its actually more violent and actually pretty amusing.

This looks like Postal without any of the comic absurdity

Yeah this game looks more satirical then postal 1.

I find the main character's delivery is quite funny tbh.

Looks boring. Being a Postal 1 clone means 5 minutes of weird fun and instant buyers remorse. Pass.

Glad I'm not the only one. It seems like an "ultra hardcore" guy trying to take out the world under the guise of the World is horrible mantra.

I just watched the WTF is... of Hatred. When the game started, the main character spouted some corny dialogue, I noticed some satirical billboards and signs and I immediately thought of Postal. Did anyone else get that vibe?

Anyway, like TB said in the video, I am shocked that this game is receiving so much controversy and earned an AO rating. GTAV is way more graphic than this and the context of GTAV's violence is just as disturbing if not more disturbing.

Much ado about nothing in my opinion. I cannot believe this game has caused so much moral posturing from gaming bloggers.

Probably most of the bloggers are jaded by the fact that the development team supports Neo-Nazi organizations. Yes, when the game was announced I didn't believe it until I actually did a little background searching myself. Sure enough it was true.

If it wasn't for that, I would have given the game a look see. I loved Manhunt because I can kill all the KKK lookalikes when I want to and how I want to. So the subject matter didn't shock me. I listened to Cannibal Corpse and Napalm Death in college. The music in the game is kinda tame from what I've heard so far.

I just can't send people that want me exterminated money. Goes against my moral compass and desire for survival. Buying this game would be the equivalent of me writing the KKK a check. :)

Everyone has an opinion on things. That's just mine. I have a Jewish buddy that wants to get the game bad. He doesn't care that the development team supports Nazi organizations as in his immortal words, "Hitler was a thing a long time ago. Get over it!"

Different strokes for different folks. ;)

I also didn't buy his cars when he was alive to make him richer. :) And right in the Polygon interview which you linked the developer skirted all around the subject. Either you support something or you don't. There is no lukewarm.

In another words, if you put on a KKK T-Shirt and pose for pictures, then like them on Facebook; I make the correlation that you support them. Sorry. Not buying that lame excuse that he likes reading their literature for better news reporting. That's why I parade around taking selfies with their logo emblazoned on my shirt.

Did you think they'd be SJWs? This game is a labor of love, buddy. I'm looking for /pol/ references on Monday. :D

$5 Steam Sale, here I come! Should be at that price by the Winter Sale! Lol. These games that try to stir up controversy, but have very little meat to them, always go this route (aka DNF).

The accusations of being Nazis were unfounded and not based in any sort of historic reality.

According to Polygon, the evidence supporting the accusations consisted of a Tumblr blogger posting a screenshot of a developer's Facebook like of a right-wing group, a photo of a developer wearing an anti-communist T shirt and the fact that another developer created tattoo flash art with right-wing symbols. The rest of this Tumblr blogger's accusations consisted of saying "Person X is a fascist", and then linking to a Wikipedia article.

It seems as though this particular blogger found evidence of the devs having right-wing political beliefs and made the leap to Nazism. Which is ridiculous. Anyone with a basic understanding of Polish history would point and laugh at someone trying to equate Polish nationalism with pro-Nazi sentiment. A Polish nationalist is by definition opposed to Nazism.

What I believe happened here is the quite common tendency to jump to hyperbole when discussing one's political opponents. For example, the American right describing Obama as a "socialist" or even a straight-up communist, and the American left stereotyping the Tea Party as the 21st century KKK.

Basically, a Tumblr blogger was incensed at the anti-illegal immigration, anti-communist and nationalist beliefs of the devs and began shouting "Nazis!". Then Polygon ran with it for one of their clickbait articles. While some of the devs' ideologies may align with the right, (or arguably, the far right) making the jump from that to Nazism is tenuous.

Cool post the proof. Everything i've read makes the accusations seem like total bullshit. Also fuck polygon.

Dude has had his last RROD... I think tons of people can relate.

pfff whats all this crap? call the germans back and say you fucked it all up for all i care, say you had no idea and everything was just a nice thing to say at that moment and youre sorry. also, seriously, kkk is funny! :D

Can't really be a Postal clone when the game isn't even in the same genre.

Either way, I'd buy it for a couple bucks on a sale but doesn't seem worth $15-20 or whatever it's going to be.

I don't really care about the controversy, though the subject matter doesn't really appeal to me. The real problem is that the gameplay looks pretty boring once you get past the neat aesthetic.

Watched total biscuits video(seems the only useful video he's put out in the past few weeks) and it looks really boring. The bs controversy surrounding this game is way overinflated. You can do the same thing in GTAV and it looks even more realistic since it's not top down.
