Samsung's latest FreeSync monitors wirelessly charge your phone.

The full-HD 24-inch S24E370DL and 27-inch S27E370DS displays come with AMD's anti-flicker gaming tech as well as 178-degree viewing angles. Packs wireless charging for mobile phones (and other Qi-compatible gadgets. (Yes, functionality you'd actually want in your office monitor... if you have a wirelessly charging phone.)

no VRR ranges listed?

i assume the 1ms models are TN, and the 4ms are AHVA (Samsung's IPS)?

It'll be interesting to see what these retail for.

Honestly I would be surprised if Sammy did not charge a premium for Freesync. The 28 inch UD590D is floating around $500 and I'm expecting this freesync UE590 version to cost at least $100 more. Kinda defeats the purpose of calling it FREE sync if vendors are just gonna slap on a price premium for having it just like g sync

That does not make any sense at all why would they charge on top of other comparable models. Freesync is just the same as any other adaptive sync monitor just that they got verified by AMD.

I'm also baffled why the range for the monitors was not posted. if you want to specify key features on Freesync monitors then that would be it ;) .

the point of free was directed at the manufacturers against Nvidias proprietary costs, a play on words. It was never intended as a cost-to-consumer.

Sweet. It's Samsung, so surely there's an OLED option for a premium price.

Wait, what? It still feels like 2004.

As long as they are putting it on expensive monitors it will make no sense. Most people are not going for 4K crap their computers can't even use properly but these companies completely ignore that fact.

4K is the perfect candidate for FreeSync/Gsync, as you won't need crazy amounts of graphics card power to game at 35-45fps, and have it look good and play smooth.

There is supposed to be a UE850 that is 31.5" in the future according to some of the links above.

I want free-sync but I fear the investment on its early stages would be poor. What's everyone think about this?

nixeus just announced a 30hz freesync monitor, id wait till thats more common.

IMO freesync is pretty pointless if you are getting 60fps anyway. The whole pont is to get smooth gameplay at otherwise lousy FPS.

4k at 35-45? yes you would.

1080p and 1440p monitors would be better for most gamers to benefit from it.

The retail is $600 for both versions. BB is the only one hawking the UD590D @ $500. Newegg is $600 for example.

I'm sure when it's first released it will be full retail, just like any product. We'll see after that. There is no apparent Freesync tax though to the chagrin of the nVidia fanbois.

23.5" 4K monitor? Does it come with magnifying eye glasses?

Most games have scaling UI. I play with VSR 1800p. In games on a 23" when they don't scale it is too tiny but you can just reduce resolution. Only a few Games of my >100 have that issue. Windows would definitely be too small. Again reduce the resolution for just it.

Again reduce the resolution for just it.

Then what's the point of 4K at 23.5" if you have to scale back every. single. progam? I don't care about more pixels, I can't see individual pixels on my old 23" 1080P monitor.

Updated the OP to add in 24" and 27" monitors and the fact that some will have the ability to wirelessly charge your phone. There is a video that explains the new features also.

I'm looking forward to the 32in UE850

The Samsung u32e850r Freesync monitor isn't any good. It likely has the same panel as the 10-bit panel released earlier which is reported to have subpar contrast ratios and uniformity.

Samsung has a 600:1 minimum contrast ratio guarantee which is pitiful.

I have the 28 in version of this panel and it is pretty sweet. Was kind of scared about TN panels, but this is actually pretty decent. You won't notice any color shifting when gaming or watching movies or whatever, and if you have someone over watching, they'll get a solid view of what's going on. The big thing to do was to change the contrast settings from default to "standard" which calms down the brightness and results in much better image quality. 4K sharpness is quite impressive (and overall UI isn't bad on Windows 10 so far). Panel was a steal at the current price.

that UE590 model is intriguing.

One of the better TN (10bit) panels I've had the pleasure of using, though ran a bit on the blue side and brightness was a bit lacking if you want to run in a bright environment.. Really bummed I missed the WOOT sale where could pick up the UE590 for $369.99 with free shipping !
