Sharp LC43UB30U 4k 43" $599?

my guess is it does 4:2:0 at 4k60hz and 4:2:2 at 4k30hz. i wish i spoke to the person you did slippinjimmy. the lady i spoke to had no idea about anything. this is from the supposed dedicated aquos member support line.

Well that's shitty. The employee I talked to asked someone and she did say it has 4:4:4 60hz at 4k, but maybe the person she asked was wrong. Too bad I didn't get a name.

no big deal, i just boxed it back up. too frustrated to deal with it. seems like the samsung is the only viable alternative to the philips monitor for now. it seems odd to me that they are pushing 4k displays but the best source of content for now is pc which so few support fully. the sharp features page lists "supports the latest 4kuhd specs hdmi 2.0 and hdcp 2.2!" yet their support has no idea what any of that means.

is that the same line as the UB30 series? (european?)

Only thing I could find were impressions of the 65" model. (nothing on a 70" version) http://televisions.reviewed.com/content/sharp-lc-65ub30-4k-tv-first-impressions-review (65" has local dimming)

Sorry, I didn't see your question in there. As far as I can tell, the Sharp UB series are their budget 2015 4K models, the UE series are the ones with Aquos pixels (4 pixels, RGBY), and the UD series is the top of the line Aquos pixels with THX certification.

The UB series also are only edge lit, so contrast and uniformity probably aren't as great.

EDIT: According to this thread, the aforementioned LC-70UD27U (top of the line Aquos 4k) estimated lag is around 15ms -- NOTE: this is a calculated value based off a comparison with the poster's Dell P2213 monitor.

just for fun I decided to scale down to 1080p and try overclocking. I got up to 140hz then started getting wonky at 141+

I picked this Sharp 4K TV up today at hhgregg for $550 as I don't plan to use it for gaming but I do like the Netflix as it streams 4K looking .

Picked one of these up today, it was on sale for $510 at Best Buy and I had a bunch of credit there. May or may not keep it -- I need to get my desktop working properly again before deciding, as I can't seem to get the laptop to output 4k to it.
