Maybe Microsoft wasn't so crazy after all for purchasing Minecraft for $2.5 Billion last fall. Minecraft has always been a very popular video game for all ages to play and now it’s becoming a household word. Another bragging right for Microsoft’s Minecraft: YouTube has named Minecraft as the most streamed video game in their history.

YouTube's head of gaming content Ryan Wyatt noted that Minecraft's achievement on the video service is "a testament to publisher Mojang's understanding the marketing capacity and power of our content creators."

All ages my ass.

And Justin Bieber and PewDiePie have the most views ever on youtube.

No-life 12 year olds have no taste and will consume a product over and over again in mass locust swarms, and its mostly tweens consuming all that minecraft media.

How is MC not "all ages"? I don't buy into all the merchandising of the game and all that, but I do own the game (have for quite a while now), as does my wife. She owns it both on PC and on her PS3.

Has everything from simple gameplay that kids can play all the way up to electrical/computer engineering concepts with redstone. Plus the modding available to it makes it a very modular game.

The game is definitely all ages. Im 34 and have a bunch of friends that enjoy Minecraft off and on.

Why so angry bro? Couldn't figure out how to invert a redstone signal? Dug straight down? Creeper blow up your base?

This just shows how "gaming" has declined over the years. Minecraft is a disgrace to gaming.

Being the most watched game title on Youtube doesn't mean Minecraft dominates the entire gaming industry. It's just it's nature of being a sandbox game that allows it to be a great platform for content creators to create interesting and creative video.

Games like Heartstone or LoL are very popular too, but I'd imagine watching a video on youtube of someone playing LoL is rather boring.

That game is boring enough just to play. I couldn't imagine wanting to watch someone else play it.

It's a fun game if you go advanced (make a small computer using logic gates). I normally just dig holes and make an underground house. My kids make some pretty large scale things, though. I find it boring and doesn't hold my interest for long, but I don't do anything big. I can see the appeal, though. Some people just hate trendy stuff... Hipsters.

It's still weird hearing it "Microsoft's Minecraft".

And WTF is PewdiePie?

I think someone is embarrassed they play minecraft and is over compensating.

It's some guy who reviews games with his own YouTube channel. I've never seen his stuff either, but I hear he's pretty over the top. I've only ever heard he does reviews on game. Humble Bundle even had a bundle based on him

Reviews would be fine, he doesn't do reviews, he just fake screams and makes faces on camera while playing games. He isn't witty, funny, talented, or anything, but he acts as a non-threatening virtual older brother for socially retarded kids online to feel like they can 'hang out' with someone. Its so sad, but also makes me jelly/angry since I didn't think of it first and it requires literally no effort.

And yet it makes the weekend "sports" shows.

Oh wait, I thought you were talking about "golf".

Now there's a show for braindead nitwits.

I don't watch golf, but there is actually thinking involved with golf, whereas with Minecraft, having a brain actually hurts enjoyment of the "game" because it's not a game in the first place.
