I really need to update my mobo to a fairly decent new one. Looking to spend top end of my budget £150 so around $210-$230.

My current mobo has quite alot in it. High profile ram32GB, an ethernet card, a wifi card , two PCI GPUs , actually that is all it has!

Can anyone recommend a mobo that would support another GPU goign in making three in total that would also cater for futureproof scenarios like putting in two amd ati firepro W600s ( each have large 2gb memory ) compared to my tiny GPUs at the moment ( 512mb )

I would need support for sandy bridge CPU socket and futureproof for haswell and it would need to fit my case. ( coolermaster cm 690 2 )

I think my mobo is going or could do with a new thermopasting of the CPU. But I know deep down my current mobo is too weak for me. I need some better CPU coolers ( as silent as possible ) but mainly looking for good eco performance of CPU that has bells and whistles to manage from the desktop the performance.

My main question or anxiety about updating my first mobo is if I keep the CPU and change the mobo and everything- will my system boot on the installed operating system on the pc. That is assuming the hard drives and SSD drives need to be re-calibrated. I guess this is where you rely on on board graphics to get through that process though.

thanks if you are prepared to help me in my upgrade:D:D

it seems as though fairly decent motherboards would suffice in the region of $100 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gnpASmjWPB0
but I could do with something better

but I really need to research what is on offer on the market in terms of what came out n the last 5 years. I know there is a new chipset or something

If you are talking about an i7 2600K that platform was discontinued several years ago.

I would need support for sandy bridge CPU socket and futureproof for haswell and it would need to fit my case.

These are incompatible platforms. You can not run a sandy bridge CPU in a haswell motherboard (lga1150) or a haswell CPU in a sandy bridge motherboard (lga1155).

If you are not going to move to a newer CPU and keep your 2600k, then the best you can do is find a Z77 motherboard. Some online stores still have a few, but if you are looking for something fancier you can scour the forums or check eBay. Always a bit risky but Z77/H77 was the absolute last motherboard chip set to support your processor.

I only speak two languages: English and bad English.

Your English is too bad for even me to decipher.

My suggestion:

Save up, upgrade everything at once. It is not worth it to try to maintain backwards compatibility and upgradeability, and pretty much near impossible to do so without significant compromises.

I second this. I just tired to help a nephew move to a new smaller case and motherboard. I'm waiting to figure how many hundreds I will end up losing. I could have easily purchased new CPU/MB/Ram for the same amount and also had a warranty.
