Wolfenstein: The New Order

Seems like 100 GB games are right around the corner.

Every other install is 50 or 60 GBs nowadays.

That sure puts a strain on my 6MB DSL. I had to let it run 15 hours to pre-load The Old Blood. Problem is, with my rural location I can't even upgrade to U-Verse as I'm too far from the closest VRAD. Unless some miraculous new techonology becomes available in the next couple of years, it looks like I'll have to move just to get "real" broadband. :(

great to know, I haven't started it yet but I hope to be able to play some hours in the weekend :D

This is a title that surprised me how good it actually was as I wasn't expecting something from it, but came away impressed. Certainly glad I played it.

Definitely looking forward to giving the expansion a romp.

I just finished The New Order last night. Looking forward to playing The Old Blood soon. Good stuff so far! Looking forward to a hopeful sequel for The New Order.

The graphics settings in this game are not sticking. Any fix for that? I am stuck with medium settings.

@KickAssCop I was stumped by this as well. There is an "Apply Setting" bar at the top of the advanced menu that you have to select. Odd UI choice for sure.

Yes, I finally found it. This game is a hog at 1440P and 4xMSAA.

I'm encountering the same thing at 1080. I thought with a 970 I'd be able to run it maxxed out, but the frame rate bottoms out at 30 FPS quite often and feels choppy. Any recommendations for improving the frame rate without sacrificing too much visual quality?

are you using the insane 32x MSSA?
With ultra settings (8X MSAA) my GTX980 can max it out at 60FPS without using the second cards.

I havent played this game in a while so maybe its been fixed but I had all kinds of bugs graphically on this game. Sometimes after a cut scene or something it wouldnt go over 5 fps for some reason. Id have to restart it several times to get it to work right. I sometimes had luck going in and switching a bunch of settings and it would be back to normal too. It was fucking weird and aggravating as hell. Almost rage quit the whole damn game over it but glad I stuck to it because it really is an excellent game.

Mine was set at 8X MSAA so I dropped it to 2X like others suggested and now it stays pegged at 60 FPS.

Here's a nice trick I found to skip the intro videos: Navigate to SteamApps\common\Wolfenstein The Old Blood\base\bink and rename loadvideo_pc_xboxone.bik to something else.

Been quite a while since I bought a computer game. (Nothing has interested me at all on the computer.) Now, however, Wolfenstein: Old Blood has me very much interested. I purchased it for $15.59 from Greenman Gaming and I am looking forward to it. (My favorite was Return to Castle Wolfenstein.) This is a time when having a auto download and install like my XBox One on my PC would be a great addition. Then I could start it now and it would be ready when I got home.

Steam has had this for like 5 years.

Proof? I am talking about the game installing on my home computer well I am at work automatically, without any user intervention at all. I would get home, turn on the xbox and play, no downloading or configuring required.

Yep, there's definitely a remote install option in Steam. When you buy a game on steampowered.com, you have a few options: download & install the Steam client on that computer, "yes I already have Steam" to have it open the Steam client and install locally, or Remote Install where you select the computer Steam is running on and have it install there.

I'm not sure how to tell it to install a game you purchased earlier, but there's probably a way to do that too.

Oh, lol, for a second there I forgot I wasn't in the Witcher3 thread. Well anyhow, I'm going to go try and have it pre-load TW3 on my home machine now from my cell phone... will update in a few if I figure it out...

Edit - yeah, you can remote-install from the mobile site too. Sadly doesn't look like I can pre-load TW3 from there yet. On the mobile site, top-right corner, log into your profile, click again & select View Profile. Will see the list of Recently Played games, and below that a Remote Downloads section with the list of all the games you own. Start remote download with the buttons on the right.

So, basically, there is an option on the website to add a game to your account without the client being installed? The reason I ask is that you can only be logged into one client at a time with the same account. I suppose I could set up my computer at home for remote access to bring it out of sleep and start it that way.

Seriously though, the question I have is a straight up one.

The answer is yes. Thought I just answered that, lol. You remote install from the web-site not the client. Yeah, you can only be logged into one instance of the client, so your home machine (or wherever client and games are installed) has to be on and logged into the Steam client for it to work. Then you you can use any machine or your phone to log into steampowered.com, go to your profile, and have it start installing on your home machine from wherever.

Just got back from vacation, and had completely forgotten this was getting released while I was away. Definitely picking it up this week when I get caught up. Can't wait to play it.

When I finished Old Blood it made me want to replay New Order which I did with the timeline I hadn't used on my first playthrough.,

I really hope a sequel comes out before too long. I really think these games hit a lot of high points the right way on a quality single player FPS.

That makes me want to pick it up even more, which also makes me want to finish it, then go back to New Order to do the other timeline. :D

It's cool because Old Blood basically ends seamlessly where New Order begins. If you play them back to back it's almost like playing one huge game. Very well done.

I really liked the game. I just about played it right through on my day off. Its just plain fun just shooting the shit outta Nazi's. And I love the alternate WW2 storyline as I'm a big fan of WW2 and Europe during that time. The villains/bosses are believable as sick twisted SS Officers.

I finally got this on steam sale and really enjoy it. It's actually one of the few recent shooters that is giving me trouble on hard. I have to remember how to play shooters before auto health re-gen and cover lol.

I finally beat TNO last night, and _wow_. Easily one of my top-5 shooters of all time.

It starts off common enough. Killing some nazis, boom boom, sort of mindlessly fun. Pretty much the same feel as Old Blood. But then the story kicks in and holy shit, suddenly its better than Half Life 2. Very impressive.

I felt the same way. It was already good in the beginning, but like you say, in a more common sort of way. I had no idea what I was in for later on, and was pretty well blown away by it. One level in particular was one of the coolest levels of any game I've played recently. (couldn't get the spoiler tags to work so I won't say what it is since people are still playing this for the first time) It's probably pretty obvious what that area is though. :D It's pretty apparent that the Machine Games guys were formerly Starbreeze too. There are definite hints of the Riddick games in this (as far as good writing, cool locations, interesting play bits, etc.) In fact I would absolutely love to see them collaborate on more games with id (or just develop id's properties further.) I think they'd be the PERFECT people to handle the next Quake game actually.

I have a problem with the game. suddenly all textures turned blurry as hell. Like everything has 32x32 textures, most objects are not even recognizable.

Has this occurred to anyone before? I've googled around and haven't seen mention of anything similar.

One minute it was OK, then bam level change and everything is a blurry mess. This started on the sewers level, chapter 10 I think. Tried re-starting the game to no avail. Graphics settings are maxed out, so I have no idea what to do, but I can't continue playing like this.

Odd.

Try lowering graphics settings, I think - it's almost like a texture streaming issue, which is maybe memory related? Or if you're OC'd try lowering your clocks first.

Do they still put LOD Bias settings in their configs? (haven't had to manually configure an id game since around D3/Q4, but that seems like it could have that effect. I have absolutely no clue how it could change out of nowhere in the first place, but maybe setting it, then setting it back to default could clear the condition. Just a guess though.
