The Mojo Story - Yes it's true

The holidays are in full force and many parties are all ready happing or planed. So every one have a safe and happy holiday season and rember to never waste the MOJO! :D

And remeber it's all relic's fault!

Come back relic, we miss you!

Ok. I'm back. :D

Edit: For those who weren't here a decade and a half ago...read the OP...it's salvaged from a forum rebuild and 100% true. You can't make this stuff up. ;)

And, for the record, I RMA'ed several of the parts, after telling the complete truth as written here. The support tech's were gasping for breath from laughing. That pink AMD Thunderbird CPU OC'ed like crazy and DCed for many years. The pink phone is gone now, lost somewhere in a move. But the mojo recipe lives on..as does [H]ard DC.

I read the OP for the very first time just a couple of months ago and nearly spit out my drink from laughing so hard. Sorry to take pleasure in your misery, but I figured that's why you shared it in the first place - can't fix it, so may as well laugh at it. Thanks for sharing it!

Still funny after all these years! Pray tell, you never let this particular bit of history repeat itself, right? ;)

Repeat? Well...someday ask me about what happened last October.
That story is not quite as funny, but it did cause me to end up taking a shower with two pretty, young, girls, half my age. With Mrs. relic's approval I might add.

I'd like to hear that story.

I don't want to admit how excited I was to see activity on this thread. Pray tell the new story Relic?

Come on relic, you can't just leave that as a teaser. LOL

This came up yesterday, when I was talking to some friends about painting over difficult-to-cover stains.
So, I thought I'd stop by the DC forum and say "Hi" to the team.

A side note about the last time I told this story; BillR, (you'll see his posts in this thread and around the [H]) has since passed away, I drove to Eastern Pennsylvania from Cincinnati to spend his last day on Earth joking around, and he laughed like a mad man as I told the mojo story in person. It was something he said he'd always wanted to hear, face to face.

As far as the story from October of a few years ago...
Well, I blew my face off, lit my kitchen on fire, and found myself in the burn unit ICU, all because I was boiling water for pasta and the phone rang. Apparently I have a penchant for mayhem...or I'm just a magnet for it....or karma.

Not sure you guys want to hear all the details, but the shower with the two nurses was a highlight.

Hi guys, good to see ya. I don't have much horsepower available, these days. Pretty much a one horse (box) town ... a far cry from the dozens I ran over a decade ago. Last I checked (admittedly, a year or two ago) I still had a borged boxen or two out there, still DCing for [H] but no access to them anymore. Maybe I'll see what passes for a decent DC box these days and put one together.

Well... every little bit counts. Start now and get a good feel for things. The project selection can really make a difference on the hardware specs to shoot for. Either way, glad to see you here.

It seems like every couple of years I find my way back to this thread. It's a great story, but more than that it reminds me of the peak of my computer hardware enthusiast days; working in a Mom & Pop computer store, building boxen, obsessively checking my Folding stats and gaming to my heart's content with the latest 3DFx graphics card.

Every time I find myself back here, I'm always a little disappointed that I don't see any new posts by relic. Very glad to see you back relic (y)

Sorry to hear about BillR; RIP.

The mojo story raises a good laugh each and every time it pops up.

Just checking back in, my friends.
For those who are new and have never read this story, check out the OP, for a good laugh.

Hi relic. Like you nowhere near the firepower of the old days, but running some instances again for the COVID (and others as they get sent instead) 👍

lol, every time this gets pulled to the top, I read the full story again. It should be an (at least) yearly ritual.

Same, it never fails to bring out an honest laugh. Everyone has done something silly/stupid (why not both?), but his story is the best.

I feel like we might need to translate a few things for the younguns.

"tbird" means AMD Athlon Thunderbird. A beast of a ~1GHz single core CPU. These were the best back in the day when the Intel Pentium 3 was hotter and slower.

"Northbridge" refers to a separate chip on the motherboard that served as the memory controller back before the MCH was integrated onto the CPU.

Man, those were the good old (bad) days. We thought computers were fast.

I think some people already tried that, with a similar (and expected) result lol

hello all of you relics....

and of course relic.

Way back in the day I bought two boxes from a fellow [H] DC'er and tried to get them folding. The boxes came with a case, PSU, and all the goodies inside. Both caught on fire. I was sad.

A lot of names in this thread I haven't seen in years.

It's still all Relic's fault.

Always nice to see you guys, again.
I'll take the blame, it's always been my fault, anyway.
