390X coming soon few weeks

End of June??? Does that mean midnight, June 15th? Or, does it mean June 30th? If June 16th rolls around, can we blame a missed deadline on HBM? ;)

Uhm...

When I heard "end of June" I kind of assume they mean the "end" of June. Somewhere between the 26th and 30th.

Fudzilla, so take it with a grain of salt but the rumor du jour is:

1.) Board to be MUCH shorter than 290x and other enthusiast video cards, in large part due to HBM allowing it to be more compact.

2.) June Launch (as Kyle said) but not Computex. Announcement possibly coming at E3 instead.

A high-profile announcement at E3 would make sense. Their primary market is gamers, so why announce it at some obscure Computex thing, that a lot of gamers don't even know exist? Good idea to announce/launch it at E3, when the entire gaming world is paying attention.

Man AMD is great at one thing. Generating hype, speculation and disagreements.

lol this thread title "soon few weeks"

...5 months later.

This is why I hate AMD's rumor mill so much. That along with their horrible codenames for everything. Now there are some reports claiming everything we've been hearing in the past 6 months could be entirely wrong. Not just slightly, but entirely. It never ends.

Not sure if it is AMD to blame for the "rumour" mill seen plenty of threads started by others that lists things that are nowhere near what to expect on certain areas. People on the internet echoing stuff no matter how wrong or false that information is.

Unless the rumor mill was right, the cards were intended to be released "in a few weeks" and then subsequently delayed.

That's 3 things.

Well looks like AMD did it again :D

Ehh but then you can observe forum posts and make estimates of how much meltdowns or crow eating will happen after release :D

Man what's with all the crow eating hate? Crow meat boosts sexual potency so there :D

I'm being cynical here, but it wouldn't surprise me one bit if all these leaks and (baseless) rumors can all be traced back to Roy Taylor.

my sources confirm this true about the short PCB... except that the triple fan cooler on it is bigger than the longest card ever made! and in fact, it won't even fit in some ATX cases. on the other hand the watercooled version has no issues fitting, if you have the 120mm radiator space to spare.

It's always Roy's fault.

Everything is Roy's fault. :D

So does this mean there will be a reference, air-cooled edition in addition to the WCE? This cooler can't be worse than Gigabyte's WindForce cooler on the 900 series that spans a good 12" in length right, RIGHT? Oh well as long as it keeps the card cool'n'quiet, it'll still be a major improvement over that abomination known as the 290X reference blower. Seriously, dafuq was the entire engineering team thinking, they all deaf or something?

Meh, whatever. IMHO, anything more than 6 months out of a video card is pure bonus.

Get a390x now and a 490x later :p

I'm just disappointed as I stretched my current set up for as long as I could waiting for this so I could get my hands on HBM :( I will still probably get it but if I do I probably won't be getting the 490X.

If this releases and is only a 290X with HBM I won't be buying it.

I have a massive upgrade itch! Either wait for the 390X, get a FreeSync monitor or join the other side and splurge on a GTX 980, but I don't think it's a big enough jump from a OC'd 290X :(

290X to 980 would be a sidegrade at best. If you really want to switch at least wait for 980 Ti to show up.

yup, bigger than Gigabyte's WindForce cooler... but at least with the short PCB, with the 3rd fan at the end of the card the air will pass through the heat pipes out up the other side (into the case) instead of being stopped by a PCB. the WCE on the other hand uses what looks like a cheap All-in-one kit similar to Corsair Hydro H40, with the same fragile plastic pipes, so may want to go with aircool one.

AMD and PC Gamer bring the PC Gaming Show to E3

http://www.pcgamer.com/amd-and-pc-gamer-bring-the-pc-gaming-show-to-e3/
"The PC Gaming Show embodies the spirit of innovation, openness and community that's part of our DNA—delivered by gamers, for gamers," AMD Corporate Vice President and General Manager of Computing and Graphics Matt Skynner said. "The time is right for a PC-focused event in the week of E3 and we're honored to be part of bringing the industry together."

Link to official source?

Well other than the fact that it is pretty freaking obvious if you use any common sense...

Except, it doesn't...
And "plastic pipes?" Have you done any research on watercooling?

It isn't.

Nudge, Nudge, say no more, say no more. The hints are fun and all, and appreciate you bringing info over from the larger forum universe (and spreading the info here elsewhere), but I think what we need some substantiation at this point.

There's only room for one vague hint-dropper here, and that's Kyle (and co.) ;)

So you only want people that are get NDAs to post "hints?" That makes little to no sense...

imgur, very official.

So again official sources, not made up slides that don't even really show anything other than the 390X being a 290X on a larger die.

You can't go around demanding everybody else link official sources when they make logical leaps about something you see as talking negative about your favorite corporation, then pull good assumptions out of your own ass and not get called out on your rabid fanboi-ism.

You're not Kyle. He can say things because we all know he knows things, you're just some guy with an AMD boner.

Shame on that guy for posting AMD rumors in the AMD rumor thread.
Not like we've been doing that for 129 pages.

Ooh, I don't even know if I can wait much longer for AMD, we even got this coming out:

http://videocardz.com/55419/nvidia-geforce-gtx-980-ti-confirmed-to-feature-6gb-memory

It says, a few weeks.

"...the next installment in GeForce 900 series is codenamed GTX 980 Ti".

Heh, worst codename ever, although I really don't think nV cared to hide it. It's as if Operation Overlord was codenamed "Operation attack Nazis on Normandy and Nearby Beaches"

At this point my hankering to get a new card that runs well at 4k has reached fever pitch. If 980 ti comes out before 390x and is around $600, I might just have to get it.
