Dear Comcast Employees;

Even though we lost our chance to become a huge monopoly, the good news is that we now have $45 billion left over for other evil empire aspirations. By the way, don't talk to the media or we'll fire you.

-Thanks

While we and TWC believed our combination was a great next step for our companies, we knew from the beginning there would be regulatory hurdles to approval. And even though we were hoping for a different outcome, we have elected to terminate this transaction. There will be a lot of press coverage over the next couple of days. Just as we’ve done over the past year, the best thing we can all do is stay focused on our customers and our business.

I caught a little bit of the interview with Comcast's CEO on TV, the person interviewing setup a question by referencing what the FCC/government said about the cancellation of this deal being best for consumers, when asking Comcast's CEO if he thought it was best for consumers that the deal didn't go through, he danced around that question.

Comcast knows it's not best for consumers and the CEO wouldn't honestly answer the question. That was the height of my TV entertainment for the day.

Dear Comcast Employees,

While we lost our change to become an evil mega-corporation, please continue to treat our customers like the knuckles dragging dumb asses that they are. BTW, Billing.....you are to continue renaming customers to offensive names or you will be terminated.

P.S. Sales is expected to continue the bait and switch tactics.

Bashing Comcast has become the trendy thing to do but truth is there are a lot of companies out there that are a lot worse. From what I've heard of TWC, becoming part of Comcast would have been a significant improvement.

"the best thing we can all do is stay focused on our customers and our business"

I'm sorry but HAHAHAHHAHAHA

That line is so much bullshit from comcast. It's so contrary to their business attitude to their customers that I have to just laugh and wish I didn't have comcast right now.

Well at least one of you read the actual email. Pretty typical for a situation like this communicating downward from management. Nothing to see here. Still a terrible company, but no different than any other company would handle this.

Although in the email they did talk about the Twin Cities "monopoly." CentruyLink is such horse shit only a fool would go with them. The only other competitor is US Internet who are still small and growing, they basically only serve the cities of St. Paul and Minneapolis. I wish USI would get their act together and get fiber laid across the entire metro. Comcast would fail here. The company is fantastic - my brother lives in an upscale area of Minneapolis and was on USI's lowest cost broadband... USI laid fiber and grandfathered him in from ~3mb/756kb to 50/50 (it might be 100/100 from what I've read; he's technologically ignorant and didn't know) for $29.99/month. I use them for my VOIP at work and they are great with support and reasonably priced. Hurry the F up USI and get to the first tier 'burbs!

What have you heard of TWC? I have 300mbps downstream and I get every bit of that speed. Hardly any downtimes (once last year). NO DATA CAPS. I have abused it numerous times and often. TWC has a large presence in SoCal. All my friends in my area love it. No issues.

No way would I want TWC to be part of Comcast. At least TWC treats their customers with a semblance of respect unlike Comcast.

Comcast ended the merger with TWC?!?!?!?

TWC are no angels themselves, but Comcast is worse than the devil.

In Kansas City, the 4 main providers are Google, TWC, Comcast (in some parts of town), and ATT. As awesome as Google Fiber is, you can't get it in most apartment complexes since Landlords wouldn't front the cost to install in every unit they own. For renters like me, that resulted in getting 2 choices, slow ATT with data caps, or TWC with 100mb high speed and no data caps.

I'm so happy right now I think I'm going to download 250 GB of HD porn to celebrate never having to deal with a shitty bandwidth cap.

TWC support has been one of the best I have experienced. Every time I have a promo period expire I ask which others are available and I always get another good deal for a year. If there is an outage I make sure they are aware and it is fixed promptly. The techs are always quick to solve issues if you need them at the house, which I only had to do once.

I understand their are extremes both ways, just sharing my experience.

I don't like Comcast. Overpriced monopoly in my area and historically bad support. But I've had 0 downtime in 4 years and haven't had to call since we moved to Directv for TV service 2 years ago...

I always laugh when any company makes such statements because we all know that all they care about is the shareholders and their profits, not their customers and not their employees.

So you live in one of the two small areas in the US where TWC offers their 300Mb MAXX service . In the state I live in TWC only offers 50Mb maxximum. :D

I know everyone likes to dogpile onto Comcast.. but honestly I can't complain about them too much. Everyone throws out "data caps" but they have had them disabled in my area for over a year... and I've been averaging about 400GB of traffic each month without an issue. I can't remember the last time I had an internet outage. As for service... I've learned that calling them is worthless.. but my local office is really easy to deal with and helpful for that one time a year that I have to go in and negotiate prices. $65 a month for 60/6 (which I get pretty much consistently) and local TV (who needs all those crap channels and sports... besides, that's what internet access is for ;) ).

Comcast will bounce pretty well from this (probably better than TWC) ... I have seen articles indicating they are looking at purchasing foreign companies now (where there is no Anti-trust considerations) so they can expand their reach to foreign markets ... they also have their rapidly expanding hotspot network they could use to compete in several segments ... they could open their own streaming service or purchase one, like Hulu (Anti trust scrutiny would be unlikely in that purchase but they could also start from scratch as well where there is no jurisdiction of Anti-trust) ... lots of opportunities for them to grow and keep their shareholders happy

It will come to yours eventually. I know, that is not an excuse. This is more reason why this merger is bad for consumers. TWC was forced to upgrade due to Google and in my case, the Los Angeles city council threatened to do something about it. I went from 50mb like you to 300mb. Competition is good. Monopoly is bad.

TWC in the area I used to live in was worse than Comcast. It was so bad people had to sign a petition to allow for a potential monopoly to happen so that Comcast could take over TWC's business in Philly. SO YMMV, I guess.

"Stay focused on our customers".

It's the kind of focus I'm interested in.......and it's usually not the one I'm looking for.

Yeah, about the data caps, they just probably feel they they have not clamped down your balls tight enough yet.
Do you have other internet options? ATT?, other cable company maybe?

Well.. I have AT&T Uverse as an option... I guess. I would have to be in really dire need to switch though as their service sucks balls here. If anyone thinks Comcast's picture quality is bad.. UVerse here makes it looks like a gift from the angels. And then there is their horrible Internet service.. which you are lucky to get 2 Mbps upload which probably requires a sacrifice to the unholy gods. I don't know if it is just my area for some reason, but I know others in the neighborhood that have nothing but complaints for AT&T... but for some reason will take up the pitchforks against Comcast at the drop of a hat.

Agree with other posts...just what kind of "focus" on its customers to they propose?

Continuing to fleece them, provide little in the way of customer service and restrict access like an overbearing parent(No Mommy! Noooooo!)? Or actually working toward improving the customer experience from both an interpersonal and technical level that grows the beast a new heart before they lose the lifeblood they call their customer to the fast evolving cord cutting rebel faction:)
