Project Cars?

Since the game's release got delayed by BandaiNamco until April to dodge GTA V, Jonz decided to make a new trailer or two.

This is the Renault trailer by Jonz with a 4K option. :)

Short version of the same trailer. 4k option available again.

Why would the delay have anything to do with GTA V? Being that it's already out on every other console, and half the PC community is butthurt about all the delays, I don't think the PC sales of GTA V are going to be enough to threatening to a game of a completely different genre launching on three platforms.

The game looks incredible, BTW. I'm pretty excited for it.

Guys im Running a 2600K @ 4800 Mhz, 2 G1 980s in SLI , Asus Rog Swift and im playing the game at 2560X1440P all in game setting at Max/Ultra MSAA plus Supersampling and in full 30 car races im getting 48FPs to 60FPS while racing. It feels smooth as butter with Gsync on, if I turn it off it doesn't feel great. Im only getting about 40% GPU usage on both cards, not sure if SLI is even working. Looks great and play controls are really good.
Ok I just tried with 1 card vs 2 cards, im actually getting higher Framerates with 1 card, Come on Nvidia give us a proper profile! Im sure they will as it gets closer to release.

AMD card owners are still complaining on the forums in the graphics section. We gave up hope long ago. :) It kinda runs fine if we turn most of the settings to medium or low. The VRAM usage is so badly optimized that I get better frame rate when I VSR it to 4K than when I run it at 1080p. It's like the game is still designed for 2GB video cards. It's competent enough that I can play, but whatever...

Cage I just noticed that at 1440P with all these settings maxxed out its only using 1750Mb of video ram, that's really low.

Does the same thing on AMD hardware. Wish they would allow high end cards to do their jobs. :)

I still don't get why your so convinced this has anything to do with GTA.

If they didn't want to compete with another game... May is worse. The Witcher 3 in may rolling out on three consoles is going to sell a hell of a lot more copies than GTA V will on just PC.

Because that's what the developers said last year and this year on the forums. :)

Odd. That seems like an incredibly strange release to be avoiding competition with. If it were GTA V launching for the first time on all platforms, I'd totally get it. For the guys that can only afford one game in a given month...GTA would be their game. But how many copies are they honestly expecting GTA to sell on PC to make a noticeable impact on this games sales? I maintain that Witcher 3 is more likely to steal sales mid-May than GTA V would mid-April.

I can't help but wonder if the game simply isn't ready, and they are using GTA V as a scapegoat instead of owning up that they just didn't do a very good job calculating when they would be ready to release.

Being that I can't read whatever is being said over on their forums, I can only guess. But something just doesn't seem right about letting this game continually get delayed because of another game that's releasing on one of their four launch platforms, and the one that typically sells the fewest copies at that.

Oh the game still has some bugs too. Like hazard cones that will fly through the windshield. Game literally updated at 9am and I noticed that some of the billboards have flashing textures now. So whatever they fixed just broke that. ;)

Nvidia keeps updating GameWorks which in turn breaks AMD performance. This week we got CrossfireX working again, but I bet it will be gone again before release due to a future GameWorks update.

I requested an E-Brake animation be added to the game for a particular car. If anything blame me and the other testers for finding new bugs and asking for additional features. :)

Tracks! Some have over 100 turns for you to memorize.

California highway? Awesome. I've been craving some real roads to race on in a game like this.

Looks like the list at the end might be missing some tracks. Nordschleife was in the video, but not in the list. From the list, though, I'm really excited. Some good tracks that don't get a lot of love like Zolder, Brno, and Oulton Park.

Interesting that they're worried about GTAV. I can wait for a sale for GTA, but PCARS is a day 1 buy for me regardless of the release schedule.

Well the perfectionists decided to make really positive camera changes today. In short you're going to love the new fluidity of the cameras. So SMS is really turning the polish on the title. They are bragging about 12k resolution support. Yes, I said it right. 12k resolution out of the box on day one for you Titan X users.

Now if they can get AMD performance back up again. /sigh

Is that the pacific coast highway? I would buy the game just to be able to cruise around on that. :p

That right. The 1.
I wonder what part though. The area around Malibu or south, below Newport Beach, or all of it including the city areas from Santa Monica to Long Beach... Anyone know?

Seems that SMS is going to do monthly updates to the game and some of these may add a new car to the game.

For those of you playing the pre-release, I have a few questions about this game that hopefully someone can answer.

1.) Does this have a driving line? Is it dynamic like Forza, or static like Assetto? I don't play these games enough to really learn the tracks so this is something I like having, and I am not overly fond of Assetto's implementation.

2.) How does shifting work with a wheel? I really like how Assetto does this, where you are required to use either the H-shifter + clutch or the flappy paddles based on what the car requires in real life. I'd be very pleased if PCars did the same thing.

Can anyone that's played the beta confirm that the buttons on an Xbox One controller can be remapped? I gave up on Assetto Corsa after not being able to remap the "A" button to accelerate and the "B" button to brake.

11.8GB update. Will see if the XBOX 360 controller can be remapped like that afterwards. ;)

The driving line is static as far as I remember. Last time I had it enabled it floated slightly above the road. Really and truly there is only one fast way to get around a race track that doesn't involve cutting corners. If you're having to pass cars, fight for position, etc, then you're losing time. After the update I'll check for you, and break out my wheel to test the shifting options.

I remapped my XBOX 360 controller just like you asked. Worked like a charm and the driving was spot on! In the options screen it shows the XBOX One controller now after the latest update so I am sure that it will work for that controller also!

The game install folder weighs in at 17GB when I scanned it 30 seconds ago. ;)

Awesome, thanks! Looking forward to trying this one out.

is this a legit website?

Yes, absolutely. GMG is a reputable, first-party digital distributor. They get their keys issued directly from publishers. They are not a gray-market, russian, VPN nonsense, or anything like that.

Basically any game that I intend to pre-order, I get it from GMG. The only exception I can think of is Witcher 3 because it was discounted on Steam anyway. Pretty much every AAA game release can be pre-ordered at 20-25% off through them. I've always gotten my key in time to pre-load before release, and I've always gotten the same pre-order bonuses as ordering directly off Steam or Origin.

how does this compare to forza as far as car customization?

There are no part modifications at all. You can extensively tune your vehicles, but you cannot actually purchase new parts that alter their performance. I have no idea if this includes cosmetic modifications, liveries, etc.

http://www.projectcarsgame.com/faq.html

Can we upgrade the cars?
Since the game covers such a variety of motorsports, each with their own performance restrictions, all vehicles are non-upgradable and come pre-installed with the best parts possible.
Can you tune the cars?
Yes! Project CARS has a deep tuning system with full control over all aspects of the car's performance. Troubleshoot common problems by checking with the in-game Engineer, get useful hints on technical details via the Digital Manual, and visit the dedicated Test Track to see how your changes perform out on the tarmac.
