Congress can't be taken seriously on cybersecurity? Wait, when could members of Congress be taken seriously on anything?

Members of Congress - most of whom can’t secure their own websites, and some of whom don’t even use email - are trying to force a dangerous “cybersecurity” bill down the public’s throat. Everyone’s privacy is in the hands of people who, by all indications, have no idea what they’re talking about.

Here I saw the headline, and was going to make the "Congress can't be taken seriously on anything" joke, and you put it right in the top post!

I spent four of the most bizarre and unproductive years of my life working as a senior aide to a U.S. Congressman. Only thing I ever missed was the incredible concentration of hot women working on the Hill. :D
 
The only thing congressmen know is how to get themselves elected, and how to enrich themselves at our expense.

I'm telling you guys, to fix this isn't all that hard. Have investigations on all of them as part of an "elected offical integrity" initiative. Have trials, and the one(s) with the most heinous, treasonous, crimes (and you know there are probably some real whoppers out there) gets hung on national TV. All the major networks, broadcast and cable, Hulu, Netflix, Youtube, etc. All other elected officials are present to watch the neck of the traitorous bastard snap and see the life drain from his/her face. Then they can look to the stern gaze of the gathered public crowds to see that if they breach the trust of the public there are indeed consequences. We might just make a few rethink their ways.

I think we would run out of officials to hang way before they started to changed their ways.
Either way it would be an improvement :)

In order to get this, we'd have to have people in the law enforcement positions who would actually prosecute said criminals from Congress. We can't even get someone who refused to answer questions prosecuted.
 
Because Congress people don't have like everyone falling all over herself to explain how stuff works for freebies so they can get their laws pushed. You people act like lobbyists don't exist and offer technical advice and like Congress peoples aren't more educated and vastly more smart than all the whiners that think their minimum wage job and what they heard on the news makes them subject matter experts on governing a nation of 300 million people on a planet covered in very hostile 3rd world dumps that all wanna mess up what the social elite enjoy as a comfortable lifestyle riding on their clueless backs.

As awesome as this is, pretty sure it would require bypassing/violating the protections under the Constitution and Bill of Rights regarding 'cruel and unusual punishment'.
So to bypass that, delcare them as 'enemy combatants' first and THEN send them to Guantanamo Bay in Cuba and THEN do the hanging, ok? :)

Can we still show it live on broadcast, cable, satellite, youtube, etc???
 
To be fair, members of Congress don't know much about most of the legislation that is proposed. It's not a new thing.

Yup that's about the only way it will be fixed. Other than making this list public and as these corrupt useless pieces of shit just start 'disappearing maybe the remaining ones will rethink their ways. Then remove money from politics and redistrict all counties without the gerrymandering, and we may actually see progress.
