Would the ASUS PB278Q be a good choice for a new 1440 monitor? I see that it is used to evaluate video cards here on {H}ARD|OCP. I just got a new GTX980 and want to get a new high res monitor. Any advice would be welcome.

NCX has a thread on the best 1440p IPS/PLS/AHVA monitors you can probably PM him for details. As far as I can tell though the new revision of the PB278Q is a pretty solid monitor.

Thanks for your response the PB278Q is what I was leaning toward.

What do you mean the new revision?

Edit: I found it. Are all the ones being sold online now from places like Amazon the new one?

Hmmm if I remember correctly, the new PB278Q uses an AHVA panel and not PLS, seeing that Amazon is listing it as PLS makes me think it's probably the old revision.

I purchased ASUS PB278Q last week from Amazon and got it this Tuesday. While they're still using the old pictures, mine indeed was the newer version with AHVA panel. The most obvious difference is the newer menu control icons on the bezel & the updated on-screen menu.

Here's the link with pictures for your reference: http://wecravegamestoo.com/forums/m...-semi-glossy-pwm-flicker-free-8-bit-ahva.html

Hope this helps with your decision.

I got my new ASUS PB278Q the newer version. What cord are you suppose to use to be able to enable 2560 x 1440? There was no manual to tell me this info.
