Grand Theft Auto V

So the GMG keys wont work on Steam?
GMG will tell you on the page if what they are selling you is a Steam key. GTAV on GMG is not a Steam key.

From the main GTAV page on GMG.
This game will be delivered as a Rockstar Games Social Club redemption code. Customers will require a free Rockstar Games Social Club account to play.

Oh OK. Thanks for the heads up. Sort of wish I'd of ordered it on Steam now :\ Oh well, not a big deal I guess.

Dumb question for anyone already pre-loaded. When you open the launcher, do you notice your GPU usage spiking? My GPU, without the launcher open, idles with 0% load. With the launcher open, its showing a consistent 61% usage. It seems a little excessive for a simple game launcher.

No key will register on Steam. It's not a SteamWorks game. If you want it on Steam, you'll have to buy it on Steam.

Bummer, I prefer having my games on Steam, but not enough to pay 22% more.

NVIDIA Game Ready drivers are out for GTA V - http://www.hardocp.com/news/2015/04/13/geforce_game_ready_driver_for_grand_theft_auto_v#.VSv_lvnF98E

I have word that AMD will release a driver as well for GTA V today sometime.

Get your drivers updated, and have fun everyone :)

LoL @ AMD users who have to pray they get a driver update.......:p
The Nvidia driver was just GeForce Experience and SLi profiles.
If the raw performance is fine, then who cares about the drivers? If they're just going to add a CrossFire profile (god willing) then I won't even waste my time on it.

I'm very happy that there was a new Nvidia driver out today. Hopefully my 2x GTX680 will serve me well at 1080P.

One thing I was very surprised to see on the official system requirements is a Radeon 4870 listed as the minimum card. My secondary rig is still rocking 2x 4870x2 in Quad Crossfire, which amazingly, still runs just about every game I care about very well. I'm excited to see that the game actually supports the 4870 at all. Unfortunately, the most recent drivers for the 4870 date back to October 2013. I'm guessing 98% chance only 1/4 GPUs are going to work but who knows, miracles can happen.

For anyone that never played on console, you're in for a real ride - the writing alone is movie quality, some of the dialog is like Tarantino caliber, maybe better. Particularly the Trevor character. Some of his lines are laugh-yourself-stupid amazing.

I'm fact, it was the top notch writing of all things that convinced me to just wait for the PC version no matter how long it took. Because playing it on 360 with insane jaggies just felt like wasting a really expensive bottle of scotch. So about 10% into the campaign I quit the 360 version- "this shit is worth waiting for".

The robber-bank-heisty storyline seems unappealing to me.
I rather enjoyed Niko's story, despite how cliche it was. CJ's as well.

They were character driven games, seems like GTA 5 spreads thin on that.

Our monthly LAN party is this weekend.......will be playing the shit out of GTAV at it.....shens will ensue!

Except it is character driven. and they are doing far more than robbing banks. most of the missions have nothing to do with that. just wait to play it.

I will play on my sofa with a 360 controller.
The game is designed for consols so the controls will work well.
I don't see the benifit of a mouse in this type of game.

Having played through the console version I honestly think you're over-hyping it. Good game overall but ultimately it felt like the same old GTA to me.

I'm definitely rockin' a 360 pad for this one, too. Charging up my black Eneloop batteries today to be ready. Those things last for weeks in a 360 controller. I only had to swap them out once during my 100+ hour run through DA: Inquisition.

I think the first thing I'm going to do is a comparison of 1080p vs. 4K and what settings I have to lower to hit 60fps in 4K mode. For that matter - figure out if it's even worth it.

I don't quite understand why a driver update is required for each game. What happened to stable APIs and stable drivers.

I haven't experienced a single second of the game, myself. Sounds like I'm in for a treat, and I'd expect no less.

For me, GTA has always been a finely crafted experience where so many things are so well done. Sure, there were little things that I didn't care for in each one. The turf battles in San Andreas, the bro dates in GTA IV...but overall, the humor and quality of writing and attention to detail separates GTA from so many other games out there.

Also, the fact that a lot of people were "meh" about GTA IV while this one seems to be universally praised is a bonus. I liked IV a lot, so this one should be pretty epic. Particularly considering the fact that special attention was given to the PC version.

It's mostly about SLI and Crossfire profiles. For single card configurations, you're right, a new driver should not be required. That is shown, in-fact, by the minimum system requirements which list cards from both manufacturers that have long since been moved to the legacy drivers (Geforce 9800 and Radeon 4870) - meaning anyone playing the game on those cards WILL be using old drivers, but as they are specifically listed in the requirements, I have to imagine they will work.

Pretty sure it would be playable even without a driver update.

I mean yeah if you want to use crossfire then yeah it likely needs it but just to play it you are likely fine.

Friend gifted me it on steam a few minutes ago, 20% complete going at 5.8MB/s. 2 hours 20minutes to go.

I already have it for 360 so was not going to pay full price for it. But he wanted me to play with him tonight so this works lol.

You will when you give FPS mode a try and start shooting..

I know that with shooting, especially sniping, the mouse will be preferred with me. For all driving, controller for sure.

Maybe getting a 295x2 and thinking AMD would keep their crossover profiles as current as NVIDIA does with sli wasn't such a great idea in retrospect.........

:(:(:(:(:(:(:(:(:(:(:(:(:(:(:(:(

EDIT: xbox 360 gamepad for driving/flying and keyboard/mouse while on foot. I played this on my xbox one and whined like a dog whenever shooting on foot with a gamepad. Its not going to happen, I will never

Good point. It will really come down to how good the FPS mode is.
If it's a better experience than third person I will go keyboard and mouse.
Driving will be better with a controller.

Sorry if this has been posted, but I'd rather not go back through 44 pages to find out. Will I be able to drive without a steering wheel?

I'm competent enough where I think I'll do fine shooting with a pad. I'm no TSquared or anything, but I'll be okay in a more passive shooter like GTA.

In terms of GTA4, I actually really like that one. While the game itself is a bit clumsy, I really enjoyed the atmosphere, music, time period, etc.
Plus, I feel that NYC is such a cool place for an open-world game. GTA4 was a blast in spite of having very shaky game mechanics.

Auto Aim is in PC I heard.......you can disable it though and online pairing is somehow tied to it - ie: if you have it on you get to play with other nubs. If off - you play with others with it off.

Not 100% on this but pretty sure I heard correctly.
