We all knew how much demand there would be for the long awaited Apple Watch, and most were not surprised at the short time involved to have a complete sellout of on-hand stock. The rapid sell out time is attributed to both consumer demand and a predicted shortfall of inventory. Pre-order deliveries now stretch all the way into late June or early July.

Apple Watch orders are being taken only online, another unprecedented move by the company. Customers who want to actually try on a Watch -- not just look at them under glass -- must make appointments at an Apple retail store. As reported earlier, those appointments are in 15-min. increments, the time allowed by Apple for a fitting and a quick explanation of the device's features and functions.

The Microsoft Band is better and much more useful. At $199, it is already a GPS running watch that does not need to have your phone around to use it.

I mean honestly I think the apple watch its the best example of everything wrong with the smart watch idea. Yet honestly can anyone seriously say they didn't expect it to initially sell out?

Hmm.... where is my face so I can palm it at the stupidty.

I doubt anyone is surprised but the expected outcome isn't any less stupid.

Do bloggers ever write anything that is actually worth reading and not merely for SEO.

"Selling out" is a useless metric if you don't indicate how many units were available in the first place.

I'm pretty sure Apple will release a statement with some kind of number in them tomorrow or thereabouts unless the number is low which I doubt.

Either way, we get our answer. This all reminds me of the sort of stuff Chinese brands do: Make "limited" amounts, sell them and then use that to bolster their product image by reminding everyone as often as possible that every shipment sold out within X hours. Honestly, I thought Apple'd be above this kind of bullshit.

Backordered to July... Impressive, wonder what kind of numbers we are taking about.

Give me a break... All the people in here trash talking the watch are the same ones who, a few days ago, said it was going to flop. The same people who literally think that if you buy a watch made by Apple it makes you stupid or a douche. You guys are the douches... you think the people buying watches give a flying foock what you think? They don't... The watch may not be everyone's cup'o tea but acting like a god damn child and throwing a tantrum because some company released a product you're not going to buy makes YOU the retard in this equation.

Technology is getting exciting again finally, just be glad we're starting to get new ideas coming to fruition instead of acting like a bunch of turd burgers.

There are much more pressing matters you could be focusing rage on... Like getting rid of the federal reserve, or corruption, or anything really. The problem here is you...

Don't buy the damn watch if you don't like it, but please don't call people names who do, unless you're five. wtf...

If you honestly consider the Apple Watch to be "exciting new technology"...not really sure how to respond to that.

From all the store pictures I've seen there were no lines. No lines mean no interest. No one is going to buy this online either without seeing in person.

It came out like yesterday... And I think it's exciting not because of the raw hardware, but how it's being positioned. No one has put this much thought and attention to detail in anything wearable yet... not even close. So it's exciting to me... Carbon nano tubes and memsistors are exciting as well just for different reasons. And also I'm a drooling idiot too. I literally am sitting here in a diaper chewing on my forearm and jamming my dick in a light socket... because I'm so dumb... like totesies

From all the watches already out or on the horizon.. this just does not excite me at all...what does it really bring to the table that is not already out or will also be out by others?

People aren't going to wait in line to try something in. The watches are only available via online preorder for pickup on the 24th and after.

I didn't.

The same people who literally think that if you buy a watch made by Apple it makes you stupid or a douche.
If you buy anything made by Apple, you're a zombie sheep douchebag. Because you're willing to spend two or three times this year's prices for last year's technology. That makes you a zombie sheep douchebag.

People buy graphics cards at stupid prices, nothing to do with Apple.

I wish I could be as hip as you and belittle other people for something they are interested in while avoiding a product that you are entirely convinced will hurt you if you get near it.

Its ok to be open minded about things. Its also ok for other people to like products that you don't. It doesn't make them "Zombie Sheep Douchebags"

You post makes me think you are a teenager. That would make it somewhat understandable, but if you are an adult the poast almost borders on a little bit sad.

I think you might feel more at home at http://forums.macrumors.com/ if you truly Apple's "me too!" release of a watch is what makes technology exciting.

The zombie sheep never fail to be suckered in to buying the latest piece of douchebag accessory.
Remember the Beenie Baby craze? They were literally worthless stuffed animals, and people went crazy for them because of perceived greater demand than supply. Its proof that marketing matters more than product.

Hell, if you told people that there aren't going to be enough coffee beans anymore, all of a sudden you'll see coffee demand skyrocket and people that couldn't care less now have to have it. The average person is pretty dumb.

Apple loves to do the same thing, and I think Simpson's recently made fun of them where a guy asked for an iPod and they had an Apple salesman say "let me see if we have any left" and reached back through a curtain where they had millions piled up and said "looks like you got the last one". LOL! :D

I might be interested in a "smartwatch" once their batteries start to last weeks, not days. For that reason Pebble to me seems to be the only smartwatch I'd consider currently.

Or I could just like, buy a real watch I guess.

eh i just hacked a Samsung Gear fit to work on my Nexus... costed me 35$ on ebay just cause ppl dont know how to firmware flash things.... and its got a HR monitor plus Pedometer... and does notifications so WIN WIN WIN... for 1/10th the price of apples

There's already been reports about Apple only building a limited number, just so they can pretend that it's a hit because it "sold out".

I'll wait until the real numbers come out to compare the numbers to how many other smart watches have been sold, and see if they are still sold out 6 months from now.

And then you'll move on and say the next iPhone/iPad/Mac/etc. will fail. It's the same shit every single year with you guys. Everyone is crying doom and gloom about Apple and when they sell more than the previous year everyone says "Oh just watch next year guys!!!".

I don't care about the Apple Watch or any smartwatch, but let's stop pretending like this isn't/wasn't going to sell like hotcakes. Also, interesting how some of you guys are so angry with other people's decisions on what they buy. Why do you guys care so much about what others spend their money on?

Remember how the original Microsoft Surface tablet "sold out" in X number of hours after launch? Not hard to do when there's only 400 (or any random low quantity) available in the first place. The iPress is always going to be quick to grab the (meaningless) "sold out" headline. The truth will come out soon enough, just as it did for Surface.

Why do you guys care so much about what others spend their money on?

Its a fairly valid concern in society what people spend their money on. Because buying decisions effect us all. If tons of people buy macs then other companies start copying apple and that leads us all down a road of shit. This is exactly what happened in the PC laptop market, and the phone market. Tons of features I used to enjoy on laptops have simply disappeared because of the success apple same with selection in general as companies have trimmed down how many different laptops they offer. Things like normal keyboard that don't blow like Chiclet keyboards, finger print readers, removable and upgradeable parts etc..... Same for phones. If you are hoping the market will go in a certain direction and a million sheeple keep pushing it in the opposite direction you can end up with years of disappointing devices. Case in point the galaxy S6 which has lost a ton of functionality because Samsung didn't get the sales they wanted out of the very competent galaxy S5 and apple didn't have any problem selling more iphones than ever when they were hardly any different than an HTC one. IMO watches are not a bad thing but they aren't a $300+ item, smart watches as accessories to smart phones should be $100 max, that puts them in the range of a blue tooth headset and just about any other expensive accessory.

So I know its all PC to say it shouldn't matter what anyone else does but its just that PC, what other people do does and always has mattered as it effects us all.

$300 additional to do what my phone does on my wrist and if I want to send/receive messages or know the time during a meeting I set my phone on the table.

Forum complainers are sheep.

Standard.

That's this year's technology at this year's prices. Whereas, again, Apple is last year's technology at this year's prices. Plus an extra thousand for the logo. All to make the otherwise empty lives of the zombie sheep douchebags, well--still empty.
