Not a good deal considering you can get 8460Ps on ebay for around the same price.

WUT?
The 8460p is almost 2x the size of the 2540p.

This is a FANTASTIC deal. If anyone is looking for a SMALL lappy with terrific performance this is it. Sure its not as thin as a Mac Air or MBP 13incher but for a rugged solid little lappy this is a good deal.

I have used 2510's 2530's and a 2540 in the past along with a 6930, 6910, 6400 and 8460p for mobility the 2540p has the win.

For desktop performance in a small package the 8460p is something to look at. (with a docking station and BYO monitor, KB and mouse.)

These go for about $140 on ebay just an fyi. Not a bad deal but most of these third party "refurbs" are just off lease machines with the hardware tested and a new $30 refurbisher COA.

I was thinking about buying one to replace my mom's HP SE DV 6000 series which has an AMD dual core Turion 2 with an Nvidia 8400GS..The only thing that sucks is the screen resolution is garbage..1366x768 is so low, even 1440x900 is a massive improvement, let alone a full HD panel...

I assume these use DDR3, so by the time you add in another 4 or 8GB SODIMM, you are looking at least $275..Are there any better options in that range that have a decent build quality with a bit higher resolution panel? I think at $200 with 8GB of ram it would be an instant buy for what she needs...

Depends on what you use it for. I have a probook similar to this that my corporation gave me. They can't upgrade its RAM because in their wonderful farsightedness they decided to put 32 bit windows on it. I hate the everloving crap out of this thing. As a dev workstation it is so insufficient that it isn't even funny. Just by having a few database programs, my browser, and an IDE or two open, I'm instantly maxed out on RAM. It's a nightmare. I guess if you just want to play a game or two and stream some stuff, it'll be alright. Just don't try to use it as a coding station or you'll hate your life.

Wow look at the size of the bezels on that thing. You could fit a 14" screen in there.
