Refurbished: RAZER Blackwidow Ultimate 2014 Mechanical Keyboard is $65. @NewEgg

I dont see that price, and your link goes to the home page

I also see $80. Anybody have an opinion on that Blackwidow Chiclet keyboard for $40?

I see it at $65. It's a refurb. The $80.00 one is new. That said, I'll stick with my old Logitech split keys. The oldest one is close to 15 years old and the only key that died was F10. The other 2 are newer and work great. If I really need a mechanical keyboard, I've got a 25 year old northgate (which hasn't been used in 10 years).

better to get a good build keyboard for more money that lasts many years then a junk razer that lasts less than a year and have to replace multiple times a year

What do you guys do to keyboards? I've got keyboards that I've used 8-12 hours per day for 5-8 years and aside from a single f10 key, they they all work fine (and they're not mechanical either).

I'm with you. I'm in IT and can honestly say, unless the keyboard was abused, they pretty much last longer than the PC they are attached to.

People here must be like:

It's not the physical build quality that is the problem. It's the quality of the electronics used inside them. These keyboards are notorious for losing keys, double typing and other issues.

My left Shift key sucks on my older BlackWidow. Sometimes you get capital letters and sometimes you don't. Also if I play a driving game with the keyboard like Euro Truck Simulator, suddenly the truck will pull erratically to the left or right. You can't do anything to correct it other than pray that you get control back before you hit the wall. It's like holding W and tapping A and D confuses it.

I'm just saying, my current keyboard is probably 8 years old and I've got a another that's 6 and another that's 15. The only one that has any issue is the 10-15 year old one and the only issue is the F10 key doesn't work, which is a non issue except with MB's that require the F10 to get into the bios.
My mother has a MS keyboard that's at least 8 or 9 years old, and she's on her PC at least 6 or 7 hours a day.
If your killing keyboards, you're doing something to them that most users do not.
I will say that the logitech I'm using right now is missing the C and most of the V, M, < and >, but I touch type, so it doesn't matter to me.
The only advantage I see to some mechanical keyboards is the ability to change the caps, which might be particularly nice if you swap them out for custom keys for a particular game (though custom caps always seem fairly pricey).
Like I said, I have an old Northgate. I suspect it's more sturdy than most of these newer mechanical keyboards, but I don't see myself switching back to it anytime soon. I wish Logitech would make split keyboards again. MS has 'em , but they're mushy by comparison.

I've never personally owned this keyboard, but one of my closest friends did and he said he was losing keys (as in the keys would stop working) every so often. All he did was game and type. He didn't hammer in nails with it or anything...

Weird. And it's strange still that it's mechanical, which is supposedly more durable than my membrane keyboards.

But it's Razer which isn't the most well liked around here in terms of product quality.

A good mechanical board won't have those issues, so it's unfair to judge them all based on a Razer product. That's like me thinking that all computers are crappy because I heard that someone had an issue with their eMachines PC.
