Da fuq. Why is Windows MC the only one.

However, it is certainly an easier solution than if you have Ceton hardware.

That's because Microsoft is paying to have the DRM (PlayReady) for premium channels

So how long until we are completely screwed out of the ability to play protected content? Microsoft is no longer supporting Media Center, and as far as I know it will not even be possible to have MC in Windows 10.

Where did you read about the lack of MC support in Win 10?

Regardless, I sympathize. It will be sad day indeed. But TBH, not a total loss. The DVR's today are pretty impressive in their own right. Its just gonna suck paying 15 a month for one.
 
They haven't officially said either way, just that if you install the preview it will be removed, and if you enter a Media Center key afterwards it will block future updates. A key thing that a lot of people haven't realized is that Media Center in 8 didn't appear until after the beta program was finished.
 
So what you are telling me is people forgot that you should never install beta version of microsoft products?
