I thought this was a solid price of the entire Ultima series. Click the link and then there should be a Add To Cart button on the right side for the entire series (except Akalabeth, if you consider that part of the series).

So many good memories here. Great games, all (even Ascension is worth playing IMO).

Wish they would port these to Android...

DRM-free digital copies that you can download anywhere, any time.

Ultima underworld was the first truly immersive adventure game I played. Many good hours playing that one....

That was a good game. If they upgraded the graphics, I'd buy it tomorrow.

If they upped the graphics on all the originals (1 through 5) I'd buy just those tomorrow for $20 Kind of like how they updated Dragon Warrior on the Nintendo DS. Ok I don't care about 1 or 2, those were very rudimentary games, but 3,4,5 were great!

4 was the first one I played on my C128 back in the late 80's, and from there I was hooked on the series.

5 came out and I was amazed with the storyline - entering the underworld via the whirlpool, then following along with Remoh's Journal...that had my heart pumping at times.

6 was released and I loved the new interface and pseudo-3d graphics. Anyone remember Marney's poem?

7 was a blast. The expansions - well, well worth the extra cost on release day.

8 was...ok. A bit different and rather strange traversing a world outside of Britannia, but it is still an Ultima game, after all!

9 is my favorite. Revolutionary graphics engine, game world design, and game play...and it wasn't even at the level Garriott wanted it because EA forced a rush order on it in order to quickly refocus resources on the development of the first Ultima: Online (boooo!).
I still occasionally play it to this very day, as I've had my gog.com copy installed for about 2 years now.

I had to go look up a video for U4 on the C64 just for fun. Looks and sounds just like I remember it.

Though my load times were far longer on a real C64 and not an emulator running a sped up 1541 drive!! :p

you are right, it was VI.
I just watched the intro,

the sound was much better on the Amiga too.
here is the PC version,

I liked how your character was based on questions that had no good answer. That's another one where it'd be cool to see upgraded graphics. They don't even have to be great, but it's gotta be a lot better than VGA (or whatever it was then)...though they graphics looked great at the time

The good old days.. I had hand drawn maps, pages and pages of notes, etc for these games. It was awesome having the time to play though those the proper way.

I did that with I, II and maybe III, but I don't think I drew anything with VI. Probably did more drawing with Wizardry than I did with Ultima (not that it helped much when I was in a black dungeon with 1 way doors).

Same here. Had enough notes to fill a small journal for each game: writing down key NPC names, words of power, mantras, graph paper for handmade dungeon maps...the whole schmear. Best days of my PC gaming life. :D

Garriott's latest project seems to be coming along nicely...and I can predict another game that makes note-taking mandatory. :)

how is it shaping up? 2 years in and his site still says "pre-alpha," which is way to early for me to pay 45 bucks (especially with Garriot's sketchy record post Ultima VII)

I'm following both SoTA and Garriott on Facebook, and both are posting regular updates. It's looking pretty good so far! Come a long way, but they admit there is still a long way to go. I think the end product is going to be well worth it.

My brother purchased a founders pack for me for Christmas, so I have access if you guys want to know specific things.

Latest screenshot posted on SoTA's FB page for Release 16. Could this be the "Ultima IX" that Garriott envisioned before EA rushed it? I think so!
