Star Citizen - media blowout, Chris Robert's new game

I wonder if you can uninstall Squadron 42 when you're done with it. Or just download Squadron 42. Obviously there is some content overlaps but with such large sizes it would be nice if you could choose which portions of the game you wanted to have installed.

They haven't been dropping fast enough. 500GB drives still seem to be $400. :( I really do hope there is a massive break through/price drop to make them closer to $100.

Call of duty lets you install SP and MP separate so i mean it is possible to do it, and there are plans to let people buy only SQ42 and only SC if they choose so i am guessing they will allow it in some form to only install 1 or the other i do not see why they would force you to Download all the PU data for SC if someone only had interest in SQ42.

$400 was like 2 years ago. There was a $169 Crucial MX100 512GB a week or two ago, you just have to watch the deal sites. And by the time SC actually releases it'll be even more of a non issue, everyone will just have spare 1TB and 2TB USB flash drives strewn all over their desks.

i am set on ssd's, 2x 120GB OCZ's, 1x 120GB Crucial M4, 3x 120GB samsung Evo 840's, 2x 500GB SSHD's

i am fine until the game hits around 200GB with raiding and 2 drives, atm i have 2 EVO's in my PC with the OS raid 0 and then 2 of the OCZ's in my PC raid 0 for extra games, but i also have 2x 640GB hdd's in my pc for misc games in raid 0 as well for video capture or other game installs.

the cruicial and 1 of the evo's and the 2 sshd's are just extra's encase anything fails lol.

I just purchased a 1tb Samsung 850 Evo to use as a game drive for $400. There are several other models for right around the same price (Crucial, Mushkin, maybe some others?).

Getting very tempted to try Star Citizen...

Hardpoint design post comes today.
But 1.1 is not.

Also some presentation by Chris on the SC twitch channel at 6:30 CDT which i believe would be 7:30 Eastern and 4:30 pacific.

edit-
as a side note, Travis confirmed the bengal will fit in the Idris hangar bay.

jokingly obviously lol

Looks like the Idris underwent another size increase. Also top hats are CONFIRMED! All I need to know now is if there will be a pimp cane and monocle!

Gladius speed increased to 240m/s and wing mounts increased to size 2. If you wanna use size 1 gimbals you'll need a ship with a size 1 gimbal like the nose of a 325a and put that gimbal mount onto the wing mount for gimballed size 1 weapons.

Newegg or Amazon? Sure it was the 512? That is a pretty good price. Really tempted to get one at that price. But I keep telling myself I will wait and see how Win 10 is as that will require a Windows reinstall again.

Looks nice. I do wonder what kind of a PC will be needed to drive this game in the SP or PU.

Damn CIG really needs to work on their launcher/patching system. I tried updating it after not playing a few weeks and it gives a source file was corrupted error. This is the 3rd of 4th time I've had to re-download the entire game just to get it patched right.

EDIT: Oh it also auto loops too haha, I got called into work 2 days ago and left it up, I just now noticed it waits 5-10 mins before restarting the patching process.

Nice! I didn't get the 'Tali love at first, but more and more I love the lines of anything Aegis...

What resolution / video card are you using? Are the texture pop-ins and glitches because you are on the test server, or more cryengine preferring a certain brand of card?

Video was captured on the PTU via Nvidia shadowplay with quality set to high.
I'm running on a Intel 4770K with a GTX Titan Black with 32Gig of RAM on a ROG Swift at a res of 2560x1440
The texture issues are just errors in the Retaliator model.
Most ships from CIG have them on first pass/release.

in the video i posted, you can even see some texture/geometry pop in with the liquor cabinet as i went up the stairs.

The Delta has to be the best Fighter value going. Those missiles are 1-shot kills on the Vanduul, and the 4 guns rock on it. Excellent fighter.

Yeah it is really one of the best bang for the buck ships, its only issues are light shielding and it feels a little slow at 200m/s but for the price it packs a really big pinch and its rather easy to line up shots too but for the price its hard for any ship to compare.

And it was really cheap getting an AMD Omega game code, it was free to turn the omega into a gamma and then the Gamma to Delta upgrade was only $10.

Roger that, I figured as much, I have an Avenger and a Cutlass, and they are cleaner just about every patch, even if nothing is mentioned in the notes...

It wasnt much of a party from the looks of it, mostly just showed the montage.

yeah from the sounds of it, some of the people that went drove like 4 hours expecting a lot more and left right after the 5 minute montage because it was just that and mingling i guess.

Reviewing Aegis Dynamic design aesthetics I can picture the Vanguard being a cross between the Retaliator and the Gladius, more towards the larger engines (engine heavy), but about the size or a bit smaller then a Freelancer.

From the GDC presentation about Visual Effects in the game. I think this is the first official screenshot showing relative scales of all ship in the game (or at least most of them). Notice how some of them are still just boxes like the Aegis Retaliator, MISC Hull C and others

That image has actually been around for awhile. I saw it on the starcitizen reddit shortly after the Orion was put on sale. I think it is a fan made image and not a CIG made image.

umm.. sry haven't been following after the initial pledge.
Is this game ever coming out?
It seems to me they are gaining more profit by just designing new ships and selling them rather then releasing the game.

Your posts trolling about final release date about every 3 months or so in this thread make your claim of not following the game dubious....

You probably know full well that they have a steady stream of playable releases and updates coming out.

well, maybe because every time I come to this thread curious on the development all I see is screenshots on new ships and price talks.
was hoping there are something else I could get excited about.
edit : could you quote me on my trolling post?

New spaceships are the thing to get excited about :p

also around 2-3 weeks from the FPS module release.

Followed shortly by multi crew ship arena commander. Then followed by the social module (walking around with people on planet). Then followed at the end of the year (though I suspect it will slip into 2016 spring) by the alpha of the persistent universe. Where they plan on having ~5 systems and limited trading/mining/etc in place. From there it is just building out the universe and finishing up game systems. Things are really starting to come together this year into next.
