Tri-Sli Questions

Hey guys,

I have purchased a conversion kit to make one of my EVGA GTX 780 SC ACX single slot with an EK block.

My questions are this;

1. What would I use for a SLi block. It appears to me to get tri-sli on this board I will be running GPUs in the first slot, third slot, and fourth slot.
I am using a mATX Asus Rampage IV Gene x79 board

2. Where are people ordering EK blocks from now that frozencpu is now not shipping parts? I am using EK plexi copper blocks for reference 780s/Titans.

3. What modified GPU bios is everyone using skyn3t? I know I am getting awesome temps and I would like to bump the voltage up a little higher.

Thanks for any and all help guys,

Look forward to messing with 4k more.

Performance-PCs if you must buy EK. Sidewinder Computers is a good place to buy parts at a good price, but they don't carry EK due to **** that happened.

I don't know if EK has a bridge for your particular configuration. However, there are generic adapters that will fit your spacing configuration.

Performance-PC's website is a pain to go through though. You can start by looking at these: http://koolance.com/index.php?route=product/category&path=62_101_135
Particularly, you will want the single slot and 2-3 slot spacers.

Tsumi I am always in your debt for giving me fast answers. If I liked people I would want you to be my friend!

Thanks again bud.

Do you have any experience with modded BIOS?

I know EK had the nickel plating problem and the terrible CS with blaming the customers. However thats why I went copper plexi blocks. I hope not to have the same issue.

Nope, no experience on modded bios. I would ask in the video card section.

Tsumi one quick follow up question to the Koolance connectors you linked. I would need 4 of them for tri sli correct? Two 1 slot connectors, and then two 2 slot connectors as these will be populated in slot 1. 3 and 4 correct?

This is when I fry my computer with water.

here is my tri-sli EK blocks and their parallel block if it helps...Performance -PC's sells EK or order straight from EK

That wouldn't work because he has single slot spacing between the second and third card.

As for the number of connectors you need, it depends on whether you want serial or parallel flow. If you want serial flow, one of each connector is needed. Parallel flow requires two of each.

ahhh....M-atx...................................................................................................................................nevermind

I think sidewinder is having issues now as well. I ordered a few things in december, and got one of my items with an email saying the rest were backordered and would be shipped within a week, never heard from him again. Didnt care enough to file a claim on $14 worth of back ordered stuff since sidewinder has always been good to me, but thought id give a warning. Also heard ppl were having the same issues on another forum and couldn't get a hold of anyone at siderwinder.

Interesting and good to know.

What other places are left to order from then? Petras is a part of Sidewinder. Jab-tech is out last I heard. I know Koolertek is still around, I have ordered from them in the past with no issues. But their site hasn't changed or updated with new products in the past several years, which isn't exactly confidence inspiring.

You could always try Swiftech Lok-Seal SLI / Crossfire connectors if you are not looking for a full, single piece, tri-bridge like Killahurtz or I use.

Lok-Seal: it's not the best looking, but it's functional and usually a lot cheaper than either bitspower or ek fittings.

I ordered most of my Swiftech kit directly from the site.

Those look pretty close to the suggestion that Tsumi made. I'm gonna go out of my way and email EK and see if they have a solution as more one slot cards are being produced all the time. I'm willing to pay to make it look nice. If that falls through those Lok-Seal's look pretty nice and I since my video cards are vertical I wouldn't see them from my computer chair anyways.

I do want one like you and Killahurtz :(

If i went hard acrylic lines that would work alternatively as well correct?

Thanks to everyone, I'm always blown away by the help I get at [H].

AquaComputers solution for SLI connectors is very flexible in the slot configuration. Their bridge piece has placing for each slot, I believe they have a 6 slot piece. You just cover up the holes you aren't using with included plates. I have their setup on my dual SLI config and it works well. It is also configurable between serial and parallel.

If that center spot is removable(the stainless locking piece screwed on the underside in the middle) that looks exactly perfect for what I need right?
If I invert it would it allow me to do tri sli for my set up of 1,3,4?

I've ordered quite a bit from Performance PCs, their shipping kinda sucks and their website is clunky. However, everything was as advertised and they changed an order for me without any questions when I ordered the wrong item (before it shipped).

I went with XSPC for my 780 tri-sli configuration. They have bridges that will accommodate your unique setup. I'll admit they don't look quite as nice as the EK blocks.

I highly doubt the screws and ports will match up.

I'll email them and see if they know. I haven't lrdered blocks 2 and 3 yet so it is sti feasible I can switch GPU block manufacturers.

Do you think it's plausible that config could work with their water blocks? Otherwise I'm gonna go with what you suggested a few days ago with the koolance fittings.

It should work, I don't see why it wouldn't. 99.9% sure you will have to go with Aquacomputer blocks to use that bridge.

I checked the ACX, and it looks like it uses a reference board. That means you can use any reference 780 block.

Sweet. I will drop them a nice email as well to double check as I am still waiting for a response from EK. Does EK have a board rep here at [H]? Or was that part of the nickel plating problem?

I'm super excited to try that out!

I don't think they have a board rep here on [H]. I think they have one on Overclock.net.

I have that Kryoconnect block, I am using it for just dual SLI in slot 1-4. It should work just fine with Tri-SLI as well. All of the holes are the same. It is designed with SLOT-BLANK-SLOT-SLOT. So 1-3-4 should work. The steel plate in the middle does indeed come off, it is designed that way to give you slot flexibility. Here is one that is configurable in any setting between 1 and 7 slots: http://shop.aquacomputer.de/product_info.php?products_id=3002

Note: You are only provided with one "sealing screw" with this kit because it is intended for Dual SLI. If you want to run the cards in series you will need to get a second sealing screw, I don't think they normally sell those individually though. To run parallel you don't use any sealing screws.

Also, don't buy from FrozenCPU. I am not sure if they have their act together yet.

Nice, thank you so much for the reply. I can't wait to get started on this project.
